Good morning Visa Journey Friends I have a question that's not related to my case. A co worker has asked about a student visa that has expired and needed to know is it any steps she could take in order not to be deported back  especially with all the changes our President has made in the last few weeks. All advice is welcome to best assist in her case. Thank you in advance.

She can go home on her own, this way she will avoid deportation... Other than, not many avenues since she is already out of status, only one being US citizen spouse.

Have your co-worker (student visa co-worker?) create an account here with details and VJ can guide further.  But in short, out of F1 status usually means a trip home for a visa.

Expired visa means nothing. Is the coworker in status? Does she still go to school? Is she on OPT? There are not enough details in this post.

New president or not, being out of status means a possible future ban on re-entry.  Chances of being deported are very slim, but if she is deliberately overstaying, that is not a good position to be in.  Having said that as KurosawaSan stated some more details would be helpful.
