Hi,

As you know in Ukraine we do not have a middle names like they do in the States. There we have a Patronymic name which is just the name of your father. My fiance and I will be going through the K1 process and I have already filled out some some of the paperwork. In her Ukrainian travel passport she only has her First and Last name, no other names.

My question is this:

Did you use your middle name during the K1 process? (in the G-325A, I-129F. etc)

Would there be problems if we didn't use her middle name in the forms?

If a person does not have a middle name, just put dashes on the fields on the forms that ask for it.

September 8, 2011: OPTIN email accepted, GZO number assigned
September 10, 2011: Emailed AOS package
September 12, 2011: IV bill invoiced
September 13, 2011: Paid IV bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 14, 2011)
September 14, 2011: Emailed IV package
October 3, 2011: Emailed checklist response (checklist generated due to typo on Form DS-230)

Use the names as shown on the passport. The Embassy deals with this all the time and it should be a non-issue.

Put it as in the international passport, so no patronymic. Patronymic is not the same as middle name in the US. We did not put it on any forms. When we went in for the interview in the embassy, the Ukrainian person collecting the forms told us to put patronymic into the middle name field, but the visa did not have the patronymic anyway (this was before they switched to using online-submitted DS-260). So you can just ignore the patronymic and nobody will care.

1/10/13 - NOA1 to VSC | 1/11/13 - Text/Email | 1/17/13 - Hard Copy Received
1/16/13 - Alien Registration Number changed
5/24/13 or 5/29/13 - Case Transferred to TSC
7/2/13 - NOA2 from TSC! (173 days from NOA1) | 7/6/13 - Hard Copy Received
7/18/13 - Shipped to NVC | 7/26/13 - Received at NVC and case number assigned

I know some people use their patronimic name as a middle name and I haven't heard about problems they had with it. Other people use only first and last names. I used only first and last name in K-1 process, but then applying for GreenCard I added my patronimic name as a middle name in application. Didn't have any problems either, and my GreenCard states my patronimic name as a middle name. My experience is with Russian Embassy, but I don't think it's any different in Ukraine.
