Original Signatures for Letter of Intent and G-325A

Can someone confirm that the original signatures are absolutely required for the letter of intent and the G-325A form? I'm just worried with the post office that things will take such a long time. He lives in Romania, and when I sent him a package for Christmas, he received it in March, with priority shipping! If original signatures are needed, then I guess we have to just stick it out. I just wanted to make sure. Thank you.

It's better to use his handwritten and original signature for the form so it would not cause more delay. I had to make my own form and send it to my fiance. It took 1 week for him to receive the form. But I didn't send letter of intent to marry. I didn't know that I need to send one.

Yes original signatures are required. You can send him the documents by email, he can print them out and sign them, and just mail them back to you.

I signed and scanned the docs (letter of intent and G-325A) with my signature and emailed them to my husband. He printed them out and sent them in with the application.

Yes on the original signatures. Some have reported receiving RFE for not having them originally signed. As for sending them to you, courier services like Fedex, DHL and UPS are the reliable ones. It can only take less than a week, and should be not that expensive for some ounces of documents.

This is what is keeping us waiting to send off our petition. I emailed him everything he needed to sign but their mail service is no where near as quick as ours is in Russia, according to him. So now we sit and wait for me to finally receive everything so I can mail it off. I feel your pain! I wish there was some loophole to this original signature thing like maybe having them notarize everything they sign so then a copy would work. But, everything I've seen says original signature so we're just stuck. Waiting sucks when we have so much more time ahead of us to wait!

Some had mentioned that they have included a note stating that the beneficiary would sign at the date of the interview. I am not sure whether or not this is still valid, but check here

Also, there is always fedex/dhl/UPS that you can send with. It's awfully pricey, but if you are that worried about getting it there what is $120.

I may have not been clear above.

My signed, scanned, emailed documents were accepted with no problems. I signed in blue ink and my husband printed them out in color so you could see the difference in ink color if the appearance of any original signature is important.... Either way, it was accepted. $120 is not an insignificant amount to be sending a few pages of paper around the world.

Here's a thought I had from another thread about using a Notary. Why not have the signatures notarized and then scan them in and print them out. The Notary is stating that the person whose name appears on the form showed them ID to prove they are who they say they are and signed this document in front of the Notary. So even a copy of the signature and Notary stamp and their signature shows that the first signature was witnesses and thus original.

Just a thought to hopefully save time and money. (This assume the USCIS person does not take it upon themselves to not accept the Notarized signature because in their judgment it is not original).

Wow, really? I think that's what we'll do! It just takes too long to mail! I'll have him mail me the originals in case of a RFE but I want to go ahead and get this sent off! Thanks!

When did he mail it to you? This is just stressing me out so much. I was there in Romania in February with him, but we didn't look into the process until I was back in LA.

What if I submit with the scanned documents while he mails the originals to me? If I receive the RFE, then hopefully I'll have the signed documents by then? Has anyone done it this way? If so, was the process much longer than just waiting for the originals?

He only mailed it today. The lady told him a minimum of 10 business days, no matter how much he pays :(

Depends on how busy the adjudicator of your case is. In my case, the delay was about 3 weeks, after they received our RFE response.
