You wait till you get the RFE.

You can think about what it might be so you can collect what you might need.

You can look through your copy of your IR-1/CR-1 that you made and see if you can locate what might have caused the RFE.

Check your mail box often so you get it right away and can return it asap.

You wont know what the RFE is for until you get it.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

Different for everyone because it can be ANYTHING they are requesting. Not everyone forgets the exact same thing. Hence why I said you have to wait till you get the RFE in the mail. Or you need to look at the extra copy of your package you made and find the mistake.

You will get a letter indicating what they want. You will send that letter back along with the info required. They will forward that info to the officer reviewing your case. There is no exact answer as to when the review will be done. The RFE in my case added two months but I have seen some here on V J that said theirs added only two weeks.

Yeah I got an RFE because my mom did the date wrong.... instead of signing it like 5/21/2011 she did 5-21-2011 and that was an automatic RFE... :(

I have to say I got pretty lucky though. someone told me for the checklist to come it takes awhile..... Mine came the next day....

this is what they have sent me and I had to figure out where the mistake was

Part 1 Information on the Household Member

[x] The sponsor has not signed and/or dated his/her name on the appropriate line.

[x] The sponsor's signature must be original.

[x] The sponsor's signature must be in blue or black pen.

I figured it was the date cause I know she did sign it and date it..... and it was in black pen so yeah...

Once you get an email from them.... You will figure out where the mistake was.

I sent it the next day... so I hope now it will be all ok....

Hello sashiku01,

One of the reason you will hear the experts suggesting to keep a twin copy of everything is for times like this. Just like me, everyone thinks they did everything right, still some get ref and some don't. Most of those who did it right won't get a RFe where as some may silly mistakes and ended up with something that may not be that complicated. So if you have a twin copy go over the the form and try to find out if you have left any part of the form blank or missed your signature.

In case you don't have the twin copy of the set, try to remember if you sent all the required documents (copies) with it? There aren't too many documents, but I believe the following should be good:

1. I-130 (signed)

2. Documents as a proof of citizenship

3. Copy of marriage certificate

4. Passport size photo of both

5. Completed and signed Biographic Info (G325A) document

6. If you have any other document that may prove the marriage (financial, affidavits, tenancy, joint ownership of property and etc).

I believe I didn't miss anything serious and this would be good enough?

Hence, if you knwo it's not regarding incomplete forms, try to collect more evidence for the marriage and I am sure you will come out of this jam soon. Has anyone called USCIS and got an accurate answer on why one got and RFE? Just curious!!!!

Thanks alot for your response.. i appreciate it. I forgot to make a copy of my I 130 when I sent it in..that was dumb on my part..but I made sure everything was sent in with it.. I even made my mom look it over for me but we may have missed a line or something who knows they are just so picky..I just cant wait till i get the letter in the mail and fix this problem..

When I tried to call USCIS i couldn't get through to them... i was on hold 25 min.. and then I gave up because I had to go to work.. but I heard people who tried to call to find out what the RFE may be they just said to wait for the letter.. ugh dealing with them is so aggravating!

Ohh wow that is so not fair just for writing the date wrong you got held back that is so ridiculous..I sure hope I have better luck.. how long did they end up holding you back for?

What did you have to do??? Did they send the forms back to you or did you have to refill everything out??

No it isnt unfair when you understand how all of this works. We just had to wait until they had time to forward the info to the officer & then wait for the review. It has nothing to do with the volume of info that needs to be sent. We had to send two pictures!
