Confused about a question on the DS 260 application

Hi,

I have a quick question about the DS 260.

My wife's peruvian passport has a passport number AND a "documento de identidad no." aka DNI which is her Peruvian national identification number.

On the personal information page 2, for document type I put passport but underneath it is a field that asks for a document ID.

Do I need to put my wife's passport number there or her DNI ie national identification number?

I looked at the screen shots of a DS 260 but that field was blank.

She holds no other nationality.

Thanks.

DOCUMENT ID IS THAT PASSPORT NUMBER?

Yes, (and no need to SHOUT). That's what the previous poster just said. If the "document" in question is a passport, then the "document id number" is the passport number. The latter identifies the former.

I'm assuming the other nationality's passport should be an unexpired passport? right ?

Yes, once you get your case number and IIN, you will eventually be able to sign in on the CEAC website, and pay your fees, and fill in the forms. You will need your case number and IIN to do those things. The DS260 is the new, fancy, online version of the DS230, and they will have you do what they refer to as an "online signature," in which you will check a box that says everything is checked and correct, and then you'll do one of those "type in the numbers and letters you see in this box" and that is considered to be your signature.

Yes, you will need a passport that has at least 6 months of validity from your visa issuance. They'll put the visa into your passport, so it needs to be valid. I recently got a new one that shows my new married name, since mine might have been getting close to expiry by the time I actually got the visa, and also I wanted all my ID documents to agree with eachother as to what my name is!

No that's not my question. I'm Canadian, but I do have another citizenship.

In the DS 260 they ask you if you're a dual citizen, and if yes, they ask you about your "other nationality's" passport.

Obviously I do have a valid Canadian passport that will expire 3 years in the future; this is the passport I will be using for my IR1.

however, I haven't had a passport of my other nationality for over 15 years; meaning that passport expired 15 years ago.

I'm assuming that since that passport had expired, I should not mention it on the DS 260.

I would've called NVC, but honestly, I don't think the operators are that knowledgeable when it comes to these things.

Yes you mention that other nationality.

I agree. The nationality I will definitely mention. That wasn't my question:

My question is: Do I mention the expired passport of my other nationality ?
