Other than the super long line at LAX my immigration officer was pleasant. He asked me what was bringing me to the United States and I finally got to answer - "to marry my fiance"
He then asked if he was a US citizen and I handed in the yellow envelope.
He opened it, and it had a copy of our original petition as well as my medical, he just flicked through it and made a few notes. Asked a few questions, like how we met? if we had a wedding date set? What he did for work? and then he smiled and said Congratulations, welcome home! Surreal feeling. |

Spent the night before entry in Estevan SK so we could POE early am at Portal ND. Unfortunately very inexperienced dealing with the K1 and K2 visas and we were delayed for three hours. They were all very pleasant just a long wait as they figured out how to process the K1 and K2 visa. Most of the time we sat in the waiting room. Both my daughter and myself had biometrics done - fingerprinting, photographs, signature etc. Finally the wait was over and we both were called up separately. Unfortunately after all the wait they had spelled my name wrong on the I-94 and had to redo mine all over again. I actually felt really sorry for the officer as she seemed overwhelmed. So I had to redo the complete biometrics again etc. and then we were on our way. I'm just glad I arrived early with the expectation that this may take awhile and we weren't planning to travel too far that day after POE. |
