US Entry was a breeze. It took less than 30 minutes from getting off the airplane to being in the baggage claim with the bags... the Immigration Agent only asked to corroborate the address and said WELCOME and that the green card would arrive at a later date. |

I entered LAX on the 20th of May 2021 at about 1930. Luckily I got to the border in time as three large flights just came in after me. I waited for about 20 minutes before approaching the CBP officer.
When I got there, I said I was arriving on a CR-1 and handed over my passport. The officer was silent for a bit as he entered my details. After a while he asked what date I was married, to which I confirmed 4th of May 2019. He said he was going to upgrade my CR-1 to an IR-1 and after a few more minutes of silence, he simply said Welcome to the United States!
I was taken aback a little bit, as I expected a bit more of a fuss due to the fact I was immigrating. But no, it was incredibly smooth, he didn't want to see any documentation, even my negative covid test that I was told on the plane to get out.
I walked through customs without a bag search either and left the airport qith my husband within an hour of landing. |
