On-line form took about 3 days for answer. >>Consulate interview in Rio de Janeiro, we arrived 1/2 early and immediate bypassed 2 long lines of 100 or so people, we asked doorman if US fiance could enter and they said it usually not done but they checked by radio and let US fiance inside. We gave cell phone to person in vest for storage that we later retrieved at place a block away ($R10). We went to room with about 20 other people, arranged our documents according to sheet and had convince person that we need certain documents, and others we not needed (relationship photos and Financial support documents, it seems they only interested in Tax return). We waited 1/2 hour to be called for interview. Interview takes place at glass window while standing, lasted 3 minutes. Questions they asked: >>How we've known each other, ask to confirm when I proposed marriage >>Do we have date for wedding >>When was last time saw fiance (me) >>Question asking to confirm that we had previous marriages | 2024-01-28

Bruno & Aimee | Brazil | California | No | Rio de Janeiro, Brazil | 2021-09-23 | 2021-09-27 | 2022-12-02 | 2023-01-31 | 2023-02-14 | 2023-02-15 | 2023-03-09 | 2023-05-23 | 2023-05-29 | 2023-06-16 | 2023-07-01 | 607* | 4 | 431 | 172 | My fiance said all in all the interview was much easier than he expected. We looked at what other people had to say about the Rio Consulate and it was all pretty much true. Especially the part about them being unorganized. We heard mixed things about them letting me (the petitioner) in the embassy with him, so, even though I was in Rio with him, we decided it was best for me to stay at the hotel and for him to go alone since I didn't want him to worry about me staying outside for hours by myself if I was not able to go inside. When he got back to the hotel he said I probably could've gone in with him. I think it always depends on how many people are there that day. Points that my fiance wants to share about his interview experience: 1. They did not need his X-ray. They didn't even look at it and they said it was mainly for the people at customs. 2. Make sure you bring a copy of the petitioner's Passport bio page, as they did ask for that and luckily we had a copy even though it was not on the list on their website. 3. They also didn't ask for the CRV payment receipt although it might be good to bring just in case. 4. Stay calm because everyone is very nice and it's much easier than you think. Just tell the truth even if they ask you the same question multiple times. 5. Everything is open and you're not in a private room so everyone can hear everything. They also did the interview in Portuguese without him even having to ask. 6. The I-134 forms are the most important. Make sure that form or forms are filled out correctly and you have supporting documents to go with each. 7. There is an older guy who is very nice who keeps your electronic devices right outside the embassy. It costs 10 Reais and he only takes cash or PIX. Questions they asked you: 1. Have you ever been married before? Has your fiancee ever been married before? 2. Who proposed, you or your fiance? 3. Have you ever been arrested or gone to prison? (they asked him this question multiple times) 4. Have you lived in another state or country before? 5. Have you ever had a problem where you had to go to court? 6. Do you know your rights in terms of domestic violence when you get to the US? 7. When exactly did you meet your fiancee and how? 8. When is the last time you saw your fiancee? Then they said, "You're visa is approved!" and they gave him a small paper that had information on how to track the status. The most important thing he wanted to note is that he was very nervous before, but he felt much better when he arrived and realized that it was much easier than he thought. He said don't worry as long as you are honest and you have God by your side, you have nothing to worry about. As the petitioner, I would say, it's better to have more documentation than you think you need than not enough. As long as you are not trying to hide anything from them, stay calm, and have all your required documents, you will be good! | 2024-03-27
