Comments : I first sent my package on 03/22/23. They got it on 03/28/23 but they reject it “due to incomplete information and/or the credit card information you supplied was denied.” (That’s what's written on the rejection notice). I got this notice in the mail on 04/04/23 and I resend the package with a check on 04/06/23.

Very frustrated cause they didn’t even attempt to use the card (I talked with the card and they didn't see any attempts) and u revise the info more than 5 times and the lawyer did too. Everything correct. They simply didn't accept it. And now i resent it with a check so I will be sure that it will work now and I wont lose another 2 weeks.

Consulate Review: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : February 2, 2023
Embassy Review : I arrived at the Rio de Janeiro embassy at 6:30, and got in around 7:30. My interview was scheduled for 8:20.
I sent an email asking if my fiancée could be with me in the interview and they replied saying yes. I printed the email and brought that with me and even with that, they didn’t let my fiancée come inside. I was very frustrated.
I already had the documents in the order they ask and I put everything together very quickly but the guy followed the list according to the scheduled time. So it was no use having everything in the right order very quickly. I waited for quite the same as my scheduled time. It is very cold there (bring a light coat).

Inside, we waited a long time for the interview. I only left the consulate at 10:20

Questions:
1. Have you ever had problems with the police?
2. How did you meet your fiance?
3. When was the last time you saw each other?
4. When is the wedding?

Congratulations, visa approved.

My ticket is bought for Feb 10th, I asked him if he thought the passport would be ready on time and he said yes.

POE Review: Atlanta
Event Description
Entry Date : 2023-02-10
Embassy Review : Going into immigration in Atlanta was pretty fast and simple. It took around 1h the whole process from gettin out of the flight to leaving from the little room with CBP agents. The flight arrived at 5pm local time. I went through the citizens line because my fiancée traveled with me. The officer collected my fingerprints, took the picture and asked if I had any type of forbidden food with me. Asked for my package, opened it and look at some documents on it. Then, another guy took us to a smaller room. We wait a little and they called me, explained about the 90 day wedding and the adjustment of status. Gave me a sheet with these infos and my passport back and we were free to go. They were very chill and even made jokes about gyre marriage haha. My WAC number from USCIS came with a wrong number in the visa (instead of WAC21901 it came with WAC201901). But they didn’t even mentioned that. I don’t even know if they notice that actually.

Thank you for posting your review. I would like to know what method you received your passport with the visa. Did you pick it up at the consulate or did you pay to have it mailed to you? I have also purchased airplane ticket and worry a little if I did not give enough time to received the passport.

I will pick it up at the CASV. But I still didn’t get the email to pick it up.

Thank you for responding. I have paid for the passport to be mailed to my address in Sao Paulo, but given your experience, I am it may be better to stay in Rio longer and wait for passport with visa to be ready for pickup. I am most interested in when you actually receive your passport with your visa so if you don`t mind, will you please post when you actually pickup your passport?

Yes. It is safer to pick it up here. But I have a friend with a CR1 visa that had her interview Tuesday and got the passport at her house yesterday. But it varies. I will let you know when I pick it up.

Just as a quick follow up to you. I was investigating how to change the method of visa receipt, pick up or mail, and I see that their is a web link for you to track the status of your visa after your interview. Here is what the website says- After attending the U.S. Consular Section interview, you may track the status of your visa application at https://ceac.state.gov/CEAC

Hey, quick question. How long did it take you to receive packet #3? Apparently we can't book the interview until we receive it from the consulate, even though the case says READY. Did you want for packet #3 before scheduling the interview?
blank avatar Rick & Tais on 2023-02-04 said:
In response to EdwinShinobi question regarding packet #3. I don`t actually know anything about packet #3, because the consulate in Rio only sent an email notifying that they had received my package from the NVC, therefore was authorized to fill out the DS-160 online and proceed with the rest of the process for applying for the fiance visa. The time from NVC case # assigned to Consulate receipt was 10 days. Consulate email after they received the package from NVC was maybe 1 day.

Rick & Tais I know about the website. Thanks for sharing! It is the same time you use to see if the case is ready or in transit. I am following up there. Still shows approved (it needs to show issued). Hopefully Monday it will be issued. To EdwinShinobi: my case was ready on 12/08/22 and I got the packet 3 email on 12/20/22. But I scheduled my interview on the Wednesday (12/07/22), when it was still on transit. As Brazilian embassy doesn’t have interviews right away, you can schedule it even before being ready, cause there will be enough time to the case get physically to the embassy (packet 3 email).

Thank you very much. I feel at ease now. Please let me know how long it takes for your Visa to be picked up. Hopefully less than 10 days. Thanks.

I got the email to pick it up yesterday (Tuesday 02/07). But they only have spots to schedule the appointment for Friday (02/10) at 9:30a. And my flight is 9a. So I called them and they told me to show up with my tickets and I would be able to get them before the appointment. I spent the night awake worrying about it and refreshing the website then out of the blue it showed up a spot to pick it up tomorrow (02/09) at 9:30a. I changed my scheduled time and now I’m at ease. I will be able to catch my flight in the 10th 🙌🏼

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
