TGregorio Maribel & Greg K1 Washington DC 2019-06-18 2019-06-25 2019-07-26 2020-10-16 2020-10-20 Yes No 2020-10-26 Received letter from USCIS, 04/03/2020, cancelling the interview scheduled for 04/13/2020 due to COVID-19. We attended rescheduled AOS interview on 10/16/2020 @ 8:40 AM. We arrived at the USCIS building on Prosperity Avenue for the interview in Fairfax, Virginia (Washington, DC office), 20 minutes early. By the time we walked across the street to wait in line and pass through security, it was already past our interview time. When we checked in on the second floor, we waited maybe 10 more minutes before the USCIS officer called our name. It was approximately 9:10 AM when the USCIS officer swore us in. The Officer dialed up our Spanish interpreter for my wife and step-daughter. The USCIS officer was very pleasant and very professional. The interview went very well and lasted about 25 minutes. Most of the questions asked where for my wife, with the standard questions coming from the I-485. The USCIS officer asked my wife my birthday, and she almost got it wrong, but self corrected and the officer appeared to smile underneath her mask. My wife was a little nervous. The officer asked if we had any updates to the I-485 and I provided the changes associated with the birth of our son, born 02/14/2020. The officer said, "Oh" and appeared to smile again underneath her mask. The Officer asked me, the husband how Maribel and I met, and when I told her that we met 14 years ago, she said "Wow!" The officer then ask if we had anything else to give her, and I said no, but then she changed the question to specifically ask for joint utility bills, bank statements, credit card statements, etc., with both my wife and my name. I then gave her a binder (2-1/2" thick) of additional evidence. We also provided the sealed medical envelops (I-693) for my wife and step-daughter. We also provided original documents/copies of birth certificates, pass ports, and marriage certificates. The Officer then said, that she's seen all that she needed to see and proceeded to hand my wife and step-daughter "Notice of Interview Results," stating that their case was under review. The Officer then proceeded to tell us that she will make a decision in two weeks. The interview went very well and lasted about 25 minutes. Although the officer did not tell us that we were approved after the interview, I sensed that we would be approved based upon all the new evidence provided, and a slight head nod from the Officer. My wife and I agree that our AOS experience was much more pleasant in comparison to the U.S. Consulate interview. 2025-12-26
