Good luck to you! Check out the January filers thread in the Progress thingy... the forums area thingy. Yea. (Sorry, it's been a long day!)

I find it amusing the ones criticizing those of us who are frustrated have either already gotten their noa2, have waited less than 5 months or come from Canada or the UK where its far easier to visit your fiance than those with us who are forced to go all the way to Asia or East Europe. You can go visit them, they can come visit you it's all very simple and relatively cheap for both of you. My fiance doesn't have that option and I don't have the time or money to go to China once a month or every 2 months.
This type of comment has come up multiple times here, and I'm still not seeing it as true. For example, I haven't gotten my NoA2. Coconuts waited 7 months, I believe. And even checking United.com, it's $500 cheaper to fly to Beijing than Sydney. (Same dates, same leaving airport.) Even so, it's not really safe to assume that other people here can magically afford all this travel, or have all the time to do so. (Because in a lot of cases, it's inaccurate.)
Hell, I'm frustrated with this process, too. But am I going to turn into this steaming mad, pissed off selfish person because of it? No. I'm irritated at the system, too. In fact, because of the way the system works, I may have to completely refile and wait ANOTHER 5 months after waiting 5 already come Feb. So if anyone could be frustrated with the system, it's me. I have everything they need, and since there is no way for me to send it in before my case is reviewed, I risk denial.
I just prefer to find more productive things to do with my time than being pissed off on a forum that will accomplish nothing anyway. On top of that, I find it better for my own mental and physical health to keep a positive outlook on it, despite the fact there is more than enough reason to be pissed off.
However, that's just me. To each their own. I wish you guys good luck, though, cause being constantly angry about something you have no control over just simply isn't good for your health.

I think a few people here somehow believe that choosing Haitian TPS visas over Fiance visas means they must hate us or love them. I am of the belief that choosing to process one visa first does not reflect on how the 'USCIS' feels about either group. I don't feel the USCIS warrants labels such as 'evil' or 'uncaring' just because they made a choice as to which paper to work on first.
If your house was burning down and your two kids were inside.. one kid is in a room unaffected by fire right now, but the other kid is in a room half filled with fire... Are you uncaring or evil for choosing to help the one in a more desperate and immediate lfe threatening situation first? Does it even reflect on your feelings for either child or mean you are playing favorites for just picking one first, especially since you will be helping them both eventually? (Just that one get dragged out of the house first before you go back to help the other.)
Now a burning house analogy may be a little different in that Haitians are not in burning rooms... but they might be risking their lives by returning to Haiti.

Well here's a realistic option for you..when someone asks a question or makes a statement how about if you have nothing constructive or helpful to say you don't say anything at all. Sarcasm and rude responses are not needed here.
I think you have me confused with the author of another post. My reply was not sarcastic in any way. I was pointing out that there are three options and I named them. I find naming the only real three options we have as 'helpful.' I'm sorry you do not. There was nothing rude about my post.
If you are talking about the post which named six options, three being 'keep waiting', then you are not talking about my post.

Where am I berrating anyone? I'm asking for an explanation for a term used. And not once did I say the system was not flawed. I just thinking a lot of people are bashing workers that are not to blame.
And Al, I don't think you will ever understand that these officers are not 'choosing'. They are following orders given by a superior. I certainly don't fault them for that. To me, that is like blaming the soldiers for doing what the General tells them to do. Fault the General if you'd like, but it is not the soldier's decision. There are serious consequences deliberately disobeying the orders of a superior.

So they are just 'deciding' to hold our petitions for five months? Here I was thinking they were workinn on a backlog. If I had known they were sitting around 'deciding' how long to make people wait just because they can, I would have been upset about it.
They aren't 'deciding' that five months would be the amount of time they are going to 'make us wait'. It just takes that long to get to us. How is that a mockery?
Haven't any of you guys done paperwork processing as a job? If You're overwhelmed and cant get it all done in a single day, you do what you can and come back to it the next day. That forces you to prioritize them. When your boss says, "These are to be done first" you listen and do those first. Does that mean you are mocking the ones you didnlt get to that day?
And I really wish people would stop bashing the uscis workers as if they have a choice. They are Just doing what their boss tells them. They are not brainstorming lies or how long to make you wait. They are not laughing at the wait. They are doing what they are told. And that goes for the phone center people, too. Even though they are in a completely different category of employment at uscis.
A 'mockery'? Really?

So what option did u take Kiwi Bird ??
I'm still waiting. Been waiting since early September (for just the paperwork so far). Been waiting for two years before that to be able to mail it in.
-
Hehe, scanning your cell phone. That's cute!
-
To those of you who say "it works, just not fast enough for your liking", what if it took 10 years? And what if you told me it doesn't work? And what if I told you "Just wait 10 years. It works, just not fast enough for your liking". Does it work? Or do you now see a point where passage of time makes it not work?
Let me pull out the area I'm pointing at:
"Even ten years is better than twenty years."

It's worth a shot to try, though. Worst that could happen is she doesn't get a visitor's visa.

Wow...I and wondering if you even know what a crusade is...because people standing up trying to hold their government accountable is not even close to a "crusade". I am held accountable at my job...as I would suspect most people are...why can't the government be held accountable?
They should, but unfortunately, it is difficult to hold the government accountable. Simply put, they have no competition. And you have to get a LOT of people to stand up before something is done. And even then, it takes a while.
As for the 'crusade' attitude, I was going with:
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/crusade
Third definition.
"any vigorous, aggressive movement for the defense or advancement of an idea, cause, etc."
I would say this counts as a 'vigorous, aggressive movement' for the 'advancement of' a 'cause'.

Well if you say the same thing as him then you must be just as rude..I'm pretty sure the OP didn't expect a response from someone which stated he has six options four of which were "keep waiting" especially from someone whose visa was approved over a year ago.
If you want to call me rude for pointing out realistic options, then I guess I'm rude. So the OP got a response of '6 options' from someone already approved, and a response of '3 options' from someone not approved. They are realistic options, though, since there really isn't much the OP can do.
Unfortunately, all of our hands are tied when it comes to USCIS. Even talking to a congressman doesn't get USCIS to jump all over your petition, and that's just the way it is.
-
My post was quoted, so I assumed it was directed at me. My mistake.
-
Hence why I said it was "My opinion". I'm not making the judgment call for everyone else.
You could think that my fiance doesn't need a visa as much as yours, or whatever. It doesn't bother me, because that's your opinion, and you're entitled to it. My opinion isn't going to change what's going on at USCIS, so there is no point in getting upset over it. Besides, I'm sure that there are a million differing opinions as to who 'needs' what.
That's what makes people so great: We are all different with our own opinions. And the even greater thing: It's noy my judgment call. Or yours. It's USCIS'. And there is nothing we can do about that.
-
Just my opinion, but I don't think you, or me, or anyone else here NEEDS that visa as bad as a Haitian who will be returned to Haiti.
If your (general 'you' here, not any one person) fiance is fed, warm at night, and doesn't have to worry about being shot at, then it's of MY opinion that they do not NEED that visa as much as the starving, homeless, and those in extremely dangerous living conditions that threaten their life.
Again, my opinion.

As it's been stated, they may have been expedited for military service or another reason, they may have been pulled for training purposes, or a number of other things. They don't just toss them all in a big open room and just grab them from any date. Otherwise we'd see extremely random processing. As you can see from Igor's, they have a general timeline. It's not like we are seeing October, then July, then Nov, then a Jan petition, then back to August, then July again.

Congrats to you!

You guys do know that VSC is gonna wake up one day soon and just pound out all their petitions in like... a day. I think they are just building up a bit of steam and pressure, and then they're gonna skyrocket. Just wait, you'll see!
Then everyone will be saying "Poo on CSC!" They'll do this just to keep us on our toes.

That''s admirable, BUT:
You can't save the entire world. You can't even make a dent in saving the entire world. For every person who lives well in the world, there are 5 people who live in poverty and despair. You can't save all of them.
No, I don't have the delusion of being able to 'save the entire world'. However, I would like to try to 'save' as many people as I can. If stepping aside in line to let someone else experience maybe tiny bit less suffering is what is being asked of me, I'll gladly do it. Besides, if it is worth it for ONE person, it's worth it for me.
It's a lot like stepping aside for that little old lady at the market who has two items and is in line behind you with your cart full. I'd let her go first. It's not going to 'save the world', but at least for that one little old lady, it may have made her day. And we're talking about human suffering here, not standing in line at a grocery market. I'm just confused how it's even a question whether or not it's the right thing to do to try to help suffering people. (Mind you, they are not saying they will never ever work on our petitions. They are just 'asking' us to wait a bit longer so that a few other people out there will not have to suffer in awful conditions, or be sent back there to suffer.)
And in the long run, it will breed hatred and contempt for the Haitians, not only for the select few that were saved but for the millions who were not saved.
Hatred from whom? I'm not hating them. I can point out others here that agree with me.
You can't possibly hope to get people to accept your point of view by cramming it down their throats, no matter how correct you feel you are. You will accomplish just the opposite, and boy did the Supreme Court ever do that with Brown.
Perhaps people should remember that when they are getting angry at others on this board who are disagreeing with them. Shouting and screaming about things won't help, and there are some people here on the forums that are attempting the 'cram down the throat' approach. I'm not seeing it working either. Perhaps those people should try a different approach?
I, for one, have a responsibility to myself and to Elena to get her visa in the minimum possible amount of time. Attending to that responsibility does not allow me the luxury of saving Haitians or promoting or championing any other moral cause. I have a job to do, and I intend to do it.
And I understand that. However there are things you can control and things you cannot. Since you have minimal control over how fast your petition will be processed, it might be worth your time to focus on something you CAN control. (Besides, I don't think being so angry '24/7' is good for your health.)
This post wasn't a personal attack in any way, but just putting some ideas out there for others to see. All the statements made in it are general statements and are not meant to attack any individual here.

These government workers are doing a job and following a process. While they may "care", they can't be personally invested in any of the individual cases. I think the issue that causes the most confusion is the misconception that "processing" a case is like "eating a raisin" or inspecting an apple. Instead, it's a multiple step process that can introduce delays at any and all steps. So, when two cases are consecutive on a stack on a given person's desk, one may take significantly longer than another and some need to go to somebody else's desk for one or more steps of the process. This kind of thing introduces additional delay. They process in order but they do not hold back the processing of any case so they can "approve", deny or reject the cases in order.
If your case is taking longer than somebody else's at the same service center, there's a reason. It may or may not be a good reason but it's certainly not a conspiracy.
I think your reply was directed at the wrong person, as I don't believe in the "conspiracy", "USCIS is feeding us lies" and the "they don't care about us" arguments. In fact, my post was laughing at some of the outrageous claims I've seen floating out on the forums.

real easy to say when your already approved
I say the same thing. And I'm not already approved.
It's so funny how the first thing people jump on is "are you already approved?" as if people who are waiting do not share the same thoughts.
You can keep waiting, pull your petition, or move to another country. And no, I am NOT approved yet. Thanks.

I dont care who you are or how long it takes: when you get your approval, I am happy for you. I am not a completely selfless person, but saying you aren't happy for others just goes to show how this process makes some people extremely selfish. As shown in examples of people saying they don't care if Haitians return to poverty, sickness, violence and even death in Haiti... hat they would rather their fiance visa processed first.
Yes, I am envious.. but I am still happy for those that got good news.
Sorry, but some of you people amaze me.
