  1. The police check is good for a year. Make sure it's the Full Disclosure based off fingerprints. They won't accept any other one. Just go to the local police station and get your fingerprints. (There is a form to fill out for them. It's on the Canberra Embassy website.) You will only need one police check since it's for each 'country'. ACT will just mail it to the NSW police anyway.

The medical is also good for a year. No matter where you are, just make sure you can get your mail, in case they need to mail you the forms or results of your medical. :)

  2. I didn't read most of the replies... so if my comment seems 'isolated' from the discussion, that's why.

First, I don't see why getting flowers on Valentine's Day is that big of a deal. It's just a single day. Did she say she loved you any other day? Why wasn't that good enough?

And second... you're kind of making her sound like she's all to blame here. First it's "I love her, she's wonderful" and in this post, it's "she is cruel and heartless." So you're blaming her for pulling a 180 on you, but yet your attitude towards her just did the same thing.

It takes two... I'm sorry if I don't sound sympathetic to your situation, but it's always wise to remember there are two sides to every story and argument.

I do hope things get better for you, though. I do hope this is all just a big miscommunication and things all work out soon.

  3. I have two thoughts on the issue:

    1. Someone just grabbed one wrong box of cases (really, the cases you see in late Jan/Early Feb are clumped pretty close together).

    2. They are seeing themselves get close to the 5-month 'average' and want to tweek their numbers. By approving a few recent petitions, they can let other petitions wait longer and still be meeting a 5-month average.

I don't think we can ever really know for sure.

Or they may have hired new employees and grabbed a random box to use for training purposes! :)

  4. I would have to disagree (politely) with the last two posts. Here's why:

When I sent my form in back in September, I just JUST the I-129F and the fee. I didn't understand the directions and my 'packet' was severely lacking. There is NO way they would have approved my petition without proof of citizenship, proof of having met, etc.

So when I realized this in January, everyone on VJ said to wait for the RFE. USCIS even told me this. However, I was so stressed I was going to be denied, that I made copies of my entire packet, and I mailed that to my Service Center with a copy of my NoA1 on top.

Then, I got notice my case was updated. I was approved. I know they matched my paperwork up with my petition because there is no way humanly possible to have approved me based on just the one single form.

So my suggestion is make a copy, and mail it in to your service center with a copy of your NoA1 on top. Worst case scenario is they don't match it up, and you get an RFE for the letters. You're also out the postage price. Best case scenario is that they match it up with your petition like they did for mine, and your case does not get an RFE for those letters.

That's just my experience. It's worth a shot if you ask me. Being proactive about my missing paperwork is what got me approved and saved me from getting an RFE or a denial. :) Good luck!

  5. Okay, another question.... (sorry!)

So the Police said they won't send the Police check results to him, and they want to know where to send it. Obviously, I guess the Consulate with our case number. Is that how it works? And will the Consulate tell us when they get it so we can schedule the interview? (Or send back that 'interview readiness checklist' thing?)

    So confusing!!

  6. I can confirm for you that the NZ Police check is something that can only be requested from the Sydney, Aus consulate. Writing to anyone in NZ will not get you anywhere. The Sydney Consulate has told me personally that if they see the beneficiary has lived in NZ, they will send you a consent form for the Police check themselves. If it's not the police check from that authorization form, they will not accept it.

Know this from personal experience! Good luck!

  7. A 'civil marriage' is not the same thing as 'civil law partners'. (Common Law Marriage)

As posted above, if you don't marry within 90 days of your date of entry, the alien MUST return to their home country. There is no way around that.

I'm kind of curious why a couple would file a fiance visa that states a requirement being 'must be married within 90 days' and submit Letters of Intent saying they will marry... if they really didn't want to get married. That doesn't make much sense to me. :P

  8. To be honest, I don't have an answer for your question.

However, I can't help but think... All the people filing from Cuba were expedited. You got your NoA2 in 2 months. People were wondering why. Perhaps that USCIS knew Cuban interviews take forever to get, ... maybe this is why.

If USCIS approved Cuban petitions extremely fast to make up for the 'long wait' for the interview, I'm not sure how much your Congressman can really do for you. If there were a way to bypass the long interview wait, I don't think USCIS would have put a priority on expediting Cuban petitions.

(Not saying it's hopeless... but it seems to make more sense to me now. If you want to contact your Congressman and ask for help, please keep us posted. I'm sure there are a lot that are interested to see how it turns out. Good luck!) :)

  9. You should read the instructions for the I-129F form, as well as the guides here on VJ. (Up at the top there!)

Because both say clearly to include evidence that you've met within the last two years. Plane boarding passes and/or passport stamps. (Plane 'tickets' could technically warrant an RFE since anyone can buy a ticket, but you want to prove you were on that plane.)

  10. Just a warning, if you're filing for a K1 fiance visa (where this was posted), you shouldn't refer to him as your 'husband'. People have been denied visas for referring to the other as 'husband' or 'wife' in the interview.

If you're filing for a spousal visa, then ignore my comment!

I don't have any advice for you regarding expediting your immigration stuff, but I do wish you luck. And I hope he gets here safely! It's no fun to worry. :(
