Tick Tock got a reaction from Saylin in No Kinder Surprise Allowed!
"They have been determined to present ... a choking hazard to young children," said Mike Milne, a spokesman for the U.S. department of customs and border protection. Milne said the U.S. Food and Drug Administration supports the Kinder Surprise ban.
I had been wondering for a great long time why Kinder Surprise was nowhere to be seen in the US. I am glad that I've never asked my parents to bring some over when visiting to help combat home sickness/ for the sake of nostalgia. I can only imagine them having to explain, "no, officer - these are going to my twenty-something year old daughter. I assure you, she is very aware that she should not put little bits of plastic in her mouth and swallow them!"
Banning such an item is right up there in the "herp a derp" echelons alongside coffee cup labels that proclaim beverages may be hot. The toy is in a little plastic bubble that's a pain in the butt to open - not floating around loose within the chocolate.
Clearly it is impossible for a young child to choke on cheerios, baby carrots, apple slices... or any other food item. We need to ban solid food! Baby mush for all until you reach the age of 10! Parents, no need to supervise your kids.
    ... Yeah, I'm a little dumbfounded.

Tick Tock reacted to Rebecca Jo in HELP! He suddenly has the worst pre-wedding cold feet and we're falling apart!!!
The OP states the relationship has suffered at least twice prior to this incident. So this does not seem like the average case of cold feet to me.
It seems the two families know each other. What part does that play in this situation? It seems like there is something cultural going on.
And I've got news for both the OP and her fiance. Marriage is supposed to last a long time. In that time, you both meet other people who are either attracted to you or to whom you are attracted. It's starry-eyed nonsense to believe that over the course of a lifetime you will only have desire for your partner. But a man (or woman for that matter) who is not mature enough to put their devotion to their spouse over those little fatal attractions will not make a good partner. My initial reaction to the OP's story is that her fiance's ego is so weak that he will (over the course of time) betray their marriage for the attractions of other women. Frankly, having only spent 42 days together, I doubt she knows him well enough to supply the answer. I truly hope he's not the type who wants a woman he can always return to while he dallies with others. Even though this relationship is two years old, it has been fractured by breakups in the past. OP, there are people out there who want a relationship but don't have the nature to keep up their end of the bargain.
I would only urge the OP to come over to the US if she can easily pick up her career and life in case she returns.

Tick Tock reacted to Dakine10 in When does a religion stop being evil?
Religion is a little bit like Twinkies.
Do we need to ban Twinkies? Of course not. Twinkies are not inherently good or evil. Twinkies can be beneficial or detrimental, depending on how one chooses to use them.
Myself, I've always found the occasional twinkie to be a good thing. But too much can often be sickening.

I am tired of being told to cut him some slack. You can, if you'd like. That's your choice. How others react is their choice. Nobody, not a single person, is undermining what he's been through. We all empathise. However, I have no respect for people who just play the race card when things get tough and don't go their way. Nor do I have respect for people who feel the need to brag about how successful they are and how much money they make, and act like that somehow entitles them to have things handed to them without working for it.
I am all in favour of blowing off steam and venting to a group of people who will understand my situation. However, I'm not in favour of going about it in an insulting, condescending way.
React however you'd like, but let others do the same.

Nobody is discriminating against you because you are a Native American. This country has policies and rules that need to be followed...why you brought Arizona into this is beyond me. I'm sure everyone on VJ is against Illegal immigration after we have all spent time and money bringing our loved ones here legally. Also, if you hate this country so much...give up your monthyly check you get from the U.S. Government that is paid to all Native Americans for the injustices carried out against your ancestors. The U.S. Governments has done nothing to you or singled you out in any way. Have fun in China, I'm sure theirs is a more just and free society.

Tick Tock reacted to trillium13 in What do I bring to the I-485 interview?
As we went along in our process, we made 2 identical packages-one we kept, and one we sent to USCIS. That way at interview time we just had to grab the binder with all of the originals in it to take with us. It also included copies of forms and other things we sent. Everything was in the exact same order. It kept us organized and on track.
So yes, we brought everything that we had already submitted, just in case. They do ask to see original documents at times. They also lose things.

Tick Tock got a reaction from Justine+David in What if my family lived in the US illegally (a child at the time) from 92-2002 and wanting to get married.
    Hi there, Stingy.
Please do not take offense in the reply given by Bob. Though it is a very straight-forward reply and though it seems to have rubbed you the wrong way, I believe it is the best reply given so far.
One thing I am learning about the immigration process is this: if you start thinking about hypothetical situations, you may cause more stress and worry to yourself than necessary. I do not know if you are stressing or worrying but I feel this is worth mentioning. As an individual who has spent a great deal of time in limbo, worrying about things... I can tell you that my health has suffered.
I am afraid I cannot give any advice directly relating to your own situation, however I felt I ought to reply in the hopes of helping to keep things calm and on topic. I'm rather new to this forum and generally speaking, some folks will be more to the point and down to "brass tacks" than others. In most cases, such replies are not to upset others but to remain clear and concise to avoid confusion.
The first step in your immigration journey, in my humble opinion, is that you need to know where you stand. In this case, yes, a definite explanation from your father would be best. When you know where you stand, the folks on Visa Journey will be able to help point you to the path you need to take to get to your goal.
    Best wishes to you!
