My interview experienced for Global Entry:

My appointment was yesterday at 4:30pm, I arrived at the JFK airport an hour early than my appointment.
I'm hesitant to get in since I'm an hour early to my appointment. I approached the lady at the door and asked if that is the right location for the Global Entry application, she said yes and asked me to get in.
I told her that my appointment is at 4:30pm, she said it's fine and I can seat inside as long as I have an appointment, I showed to her my appointment and she said you're good please log in here.
After I logged in she told me to go at the waiting area with some people waiting as well. After 10 minutes of waiting an Asian guy called my name and told me to follow to his office.
After entering his office he asked me to show to him my US passport and driver's license, he checked my passport information versus the one on his computer, he did the finger print and took a picture as well.
He asked as well for my complete name, birth date and current address.
He then discussed about the Global Entry program which I 'm already aware, then he asked couple questions:
Did you violate any federal law?
    Did you commit any crimes?
These are the only questions I remembered but I believe it was 4 questions which I responded NO to all of them.
After the questions he said, I will approved your application today, you can start using your GE once you got the email approval.
I thanked him and he asked me if I have questions and I said no and he escorted me outside. I got the email approval after 30 minutes of my interview while I'm on my way home.
It's like less 10 minutes interview which is mainly a verification based on your application. I was out at 4:00pm though my interview was set at 4:30pm.
So far it's a good experienced and workers are nice and friendly.

I wasn't sure where to post it where it'd be the most use to people, so I'm putting it here.

We had a very stressful situation for my husband's oath ceremony. His oath was at the end of August. That week, his mother fell gravely ill and it was necessary for us to book a flight to the UK as soon as we could, which was basically immediately after his oath. We may hold the record for quickest departure from the US after an oath ceremony. Anyway, I knew you aren't meant to travel outside the US without a US passport, but we were left with little choice. There wasn't even time to get an emergency one at a passport center before we left, which I've heard can be processed anywhere from 12 hours to 2-3 days at best. We flew 2 hours after his oath. Anyway, all was fine leaving the country and then we made an appointment with the local US consulate when we got there. We went in and told them about our emergency, brought the death certificate although that was not required, and they were able to issue an emergency limited use passport for him. We then updated the airlines and used it to go through US immigration on the way back. There were some extra questions about why we didn't get it before we left, but ultimately they were understanding and it was all fine.

When we got back, he filed to convert it to a 10 year passport and there were no issues with doing that. I just wanted to post this in case anyone else has an equally horribly timed emergency.

Sorry for the delay, I am still recovering from celebrating last night . Yes, I got approved. Here is what happened:

My husband and I got at 972 Broad St, Newark Rodino Federal building at around 12:15 for a 1 pm interview appointment. We pass through security that is a tsa like security (removed shoes and put all the belongings in a bin). Got the elevator and went straight to the 15th floor. There was another guard at the door, she said I couldn't go in until 12:30, we went to the cafeteria on the 2nd floor for about 10 minutes. When it was 12:30, we went back to the 15th floor and the guard let me through and I went to window 1. At window one, the lady asked to see my appt letter and GC. She found my name on a list and sent me to the 14th Floor. There, I checked in on a n400 window and the lady said "have a seat and we will call your name". At this point it was 12:45. After a loooooong wait, I was called in at 2:15pm by a very sweet lady (Ms. Sudha Yeragudi). My husband remained in the wait room. I went to her office and she told me to put my belongings in a chair, remain standing and raise my right had. She said "Do you swear to tell the truth...so help you God?" "I Do", Have a Seat.
She then took a picture of me, and took finger prints digitally (like in biometrics) only of index fingers and thumbs. First question: What is you maiden last name? (I have changed my name during my GC interview to my married name). I told her, she was very confused looking at her screen. She asked me: "Can I please see your passport?" I pulled out all of my expired and current passport, she wanted to see the most current one (which has my married name) then she said "Why doesn't your passport have your maiden name?" She was so confused and I deep inside was frustrated with her concussion but then I said "After I got married and got my green card, I also got married in my home country and therefore updated my last name in my passport as well, here is my old passport with my maiden name". She moved on. Next she said "I don't understand why your application has a lot of blank answers..." I said "I applied online and I noticed that the system prompted me to skipped a few questions as they don't apply to me". She said "We can't leave it blank, so I'll ask you anyway". I said "Ok, I understand". So she asked:
"What is your address" -- I told her
She casually asked: "Where my town was located, I never heard of it" -- So I explained to her ( I believe she was just accessing ability to speak English)
"Are your parents US Citizens?" - -No
"What's the name of your husband?" -- I said his name
"How many times have you been married?"  -- once, to my current husband and never been married before and the same applies to my husband.
"Do you have any children?" -- No
     "How tall are you?" -- 5' 4"
"From 1933 to 1945 have you been a member of the Nazi group?" No (in my head: uuuhhh I wasn't even in this world!)
"Have you been arrested before?" --No
"Have you assisted anyone in committing any crime or offense?" - -No
"Have you assisted in anyway anyone to immigrate to the United States illegally?  --No

She asked a few more of those silly "have you ever" questions which the answer were all NO

Then she asked the "yes" questions:
Do you support the constitution, Would you be willing to bear arms on behalf of the United States, do important work for the nation if needed, etc...
    All Yes answers.

She said lets move on to your test, the questions were:
Name one of the senators of your state -- Cory Booker
What is the capital of your state? -- Trenton
Why does the flag have 13 stripes? -- Because the stripes represent the original colonies
Who was the president during WWI - Woodrow Wilson
Who the United States fight during WW2? -- Japan, Germany and Italy
What's the name of the Vice President now? -- Mike Pence

    Reading portion:
a sentence popped up in an iPad in front of me and I had to read to her:

    "Who elects congress"
Then the next screen on the Ipad showed lines where I needed to write the answer that she gave me, so I wrote:
    "The people elect Congress"

Then she was silent for a long two minutes (this was so awkward)
Then she asked me: "Why did it take so long for you to apply for citizenship?" I said it was a hectic year for me with moving states and school when I became eligible.
She said: "At least you're here today, I was just wondering if at any point you had any doubts on becoming a citizen of the US"
I said "Not at all, I just wanted to devote my time into applying with no distractions, I wanted to make sure I did it right"
She said "Congratulations, I'm sending you to approval, go back to the 15th floor, give this letter and the GC and You will be sworn today!"
Then I got my husband and we went back to the 15th floor, waited for a good 45 minutes and we went to another room with about 50 people plus their relatives. Applicants we interacted to sit in the front of the room and relatives in the back, but they could watch the whole ceremony. We did the whole thing - Watch a video, swear the Oath of allegiance, Nat anthem, pledge of allegiance, watched a video of our clown of a president read pathetically from a teleprompter words that he didn't mean... The nice IO explained the contents of our packages: Passport forms, voting and SS info. Finally they called each one of us to give us our certificate. They stress the importance to check our info in the certificate because in case it was incorrect they could fix it right then for free, but if you leave the building and realized something were wrong it would cost us $500 + to fix it and it could take months. So we did a double, triple check and were sent on our marry way! We left the building at 3:55pm.

Overall, all the people working at that office that I interacted with were really really nice and respectful, all of them said congratulations!
My husband and I celebrated at our local pub and I had a big burger and several beers!

    What a Journey, you guys!

    Here is my timeline:

    24 hours old US Citizen
Got my interview and same day oath (only perk of NJ).
Arrived 20 minutes early and interview started 20 mins late, IO V. RODRIGUEZ was very professional.
Right hand up and oath that all what I'll say is the truth
Personal data verification. Name changes if any (denied). supposed to be updating the application but system was acting up, so she so professionally skipped to the next step. Civics (not in order) What is freedom of religion. What is the age for males to sign for selective service. Who is the chief of the Military. Name a part of the government. During the cold war what was the main concern,  When do we celebrate independence day. Read: Who is George Washington? Write on the tablet ahead: Washington was the first president. Generic No/Yes questions Back to update the application, corrected the destination of my travels after the application that they got wrong. Asked for my spouse's original birth certificate (3 yrs rule). Check and sign how my details would look like on the naturalization certificate. Recommended for approval. Time: ~20-30 mins mainly because system being slow.

Back to waiting area, with pre-oath documents that I checked boxes saying nothing has changed since my interview, signed and dated.
Got an message from USCIS, status changed, checked and it said, oath ceremony has been scheduled and we mailed you the notice.
Got called to a window where I gave them the pre-oath document, signed a copy and the original naturalization certificate after verifying sure information is correct and gave me a flag and an envelope with passport application and oath copy.
Back to waiting area where I relentlessly chased my son around and everyone saying he is cute and how come he is white and I'm brown-ish and me smiling socially while my wife sat in the back literally having contractions for our baby#2 (real story) that was delivered 7hrs later.

Got called to the oath room families sat in the back 99% citizens up front, watched a video, national anthem, oath, watched Mr. Trump welcoming the now 100% citizens cause we swore the oath, got original certificate, darted to the hospital.
    Whole thing took ~4 hrs.

Applied for passport 3 hours ago, so I can come back to my country if I had to leave for any reason.
Mail man, stapled through the $555 certificate so carelessly.
When it comes back I'll then update SS, DMV(MVA) records and register to vote.

    I'M DONE

First time posting in this thread. We had are biometrics this morning so we are one step closer.

I have seen many of you posting that you are uploading bank statements and tax returns etc. None of those were required when I filled out the "online" form through USCIS. Completed the required questions, paid the fee and submitted everything. Within 48 hours received confirmation that it had been accepted. 10 days letter received our appointment letter for biometrics which were finished this morning. To this day no request for the documents that you are saying you submitted.

Can anyone shed some light on this because I don't have an answer to what the difference is.

To me it seems like you got one of those "bogus RFEs" that they sent out just to postpone working on the case.
We sent almost exactly the same stuff (except I did not include any pictures whatsoever).
Definitely 2012 IRS Transcript along with many bank statements (covering all of the month of marriage, at this point) would be the best evidence. Send more joint bills.
Another thing: do you have any credit cards together? If you do, get a letter from the CC company saying the account is joint (or you are an authorized user).
Pull credit reports for both of you (from www.annualcreditreport.com - it's free once a year and does not affect your credit). It will show addresses and any co-mingled finances.
Other than that, nothing else comes to mind.

David said I should post this. It might help some who are still waiting on NOA2s. I did not post this months ago for a reason. There is always some self proclaimed internet genius that will make 80 posts if there is any error in this. First, this is my second rodeo. Wait times between NOAs was about 150 days. Much shorter now. Why are the wait times down. Economy. With the world economic slowdown, fewer people are getting married, even domestically. Okay, this information was given about two years ago from a former adjudicator from the Nebraska service center. I will not write anything except what I am certain he said.
My disclaimer. It was two years ago and I might be wrong with a detail or two, but I am trying to give yall a general overview. I am also sure that I left something out, by mistake.
An application gets sent to VSC. It is received, put in a box with other like applications, gets moved to a location for inbound processing. Within a few days the application is processed. What does that mean. Basically put in a folder, assigned a case number, given a barcode label, and a contractor types your information into a computer and you receive your NOA. Now, your box with others basically is put in a warehouse, collecting dust.
Most adjudicators work remotely from home. Here is what they do. They go to VSC basically once a week. They drop off completed applications and pick up new ones. I will start with the new ones. I am not sure how many boxes they take home at a time or how many applications are in a box. Your box is picked up by the adjudicator. It comes from the wearhouse. A contractor goes back and gets the adjudicator said boxes. They try to pick them up in order, but with a constant flow and things moving around, your box might get passed over a couple of times. It is not a conveyor line where everything is in perfect first come first serve order. Yours is lucky enough to be in a picked box.
Adjudicator takes it home with the other applications. The adjudicator works on all the applications in their boxes. Some approved, some needing an RFE. The next week the adjudicator takes all of the applications with them back to VSC. The ones requiring an RFE are seperated from approved ones. The RFEs are given to a contractor, data about what the RFE is about is entered and the letter is sent out to the petitioner. Now that application is waiting on the evidence to be returned. What I am about to say next I believe is accurate. Once they receive your evidence that is needed, it is put with your petition and it waits for the original adjudicator to pick it up. The original adjudicator works on the RFE case. Another adjudicator does not work on it. Once they are assigned a case, one person works on it from start to finish. Supposedly, when an adjudicator picks up another load of applications, they work on the RFEs first.
Now with the approved petitions. Adjudicator drops them off. Now it is up to contractors to process and do the data entry. Contractors are the ones who do all of the moving around and data entry. Your petition could be in the bottom of a box, another box gets put in front of it, data entry person goes home, your approved application could take a couple of extra days for the information to get entered. Once entered, another contractor takes your box and puts it on a pallet of like applications to be trucked to NVC.
Okay, in initial processing, a bar code is put on your folder. What is supposed to happen always does not. Anytime your application is moved it is suppossed to be scanned. Hence the famous touch. Why are some people approved without ever getting a touch. Shear volume of applications. Adjudicator 1 says they need 3 boxes. Contractor B goes and gets 3 boxes and returns. Contractor B hands over 3 boxes quickly because Adjudicator C who is in a bad mood wants his 3 boxes. Don't want to annoy adjudicator C anymore then needed, get him his boxes and get him gone. No scans, no touches. Why do a lot of people get their touches the day before or the day they receive approval. It actually gets scanned like it is suppossed to. Not all adjudicators work at home, there is some office space at VSC, so some do work there.
Basically, I call it luck of the box. You don't want other boxes put in front of yours, your box goes home with an adjudicator who takes a few days off. Now boxes are marked with dates. They do try to pull boxes in order by date. Like I said, things are always moving and getting shuffled around. Your box is at the mercy of gods.
Some adjudicators are also quicker then others or the adjudicator who has your box also is proficient in other visa applications and gets told by a supervisor, here take these and do them first. Your box is neglected again. Your application will get looked at, but these are some of the explanations that I remember hearing.
The former adjudicator said some other things but it was over 2 years ago, so I can not be accurate with that. I hope this helps some. Just be patient. I know that is hard. I wasn't my first go round, but I understand the process a whole lot better now so I am now. There is a massive volume of petitions that get processed at VSC. I just hope they don't screw mine up.

solmarc reacted to Gary and Alla in K1 Visa: Marrying outside U.S. once approved?
A K-1 is not "APPROVAL TO MARRY YOU" He does not need approval to marry you from the governemnt. He needs approval to enter the USA, marry you and apply for a green card. You can marry him today, or maybe tomorrow, depends how long it takes you to travel there.
That said, you are young and inexperienced. Read the guides.
YES, you absolutely can marry him outside the USA after he gets his K-1 visa. Then throw away the K-1 and start over by filing for a spousal visa. A K-1 is a finace(e) visa for fiance(e)s, it is not for boyfriends or husbands. K-1s have cerain advantages and isadvantages when compared to other types of visas (CR-1 for example) Do not make a choice until you understand all about each one and decide what is best in your situation, it is not the same for everyone.
