You are really on a roll with the sarcastic comments lately. Why do you bother wasting your own time when you could just as easily close the window and let someone else answer? People post here because they're confused. It's great that you understand the process so well but not everybody gets this stuff as easily as you do. If you don't want to use your knowledge of the process (which I know you know a lot about) to be helpful, why even bother?

In all fairness, that IS a little harsh. We don't know the circumstances of why his fiancee got pregnant. Birth control isn't 100% and it's unreasonable to assume couples who are careful would abstain from sex just because of a 1% chance. However, like I said, we don't know the circumstances so it's best just not to judge at all.

    Gary,
You are being extremely rude to the OP here. He came to us for advice and support, not to be ridiculed. Why don't you learn some manners before posting on here. We've heard many different and very lame excuses for being denied a visa. If you can't say something supportive or give helpful advice without an attitude, then don't say anything at all.

MY GOD Gary and Alla ... can't you ever say anything nice or do you have to be so judgmental and harsh MOST if not all of the time... who died and made you the KING of perfection? People are a member of Visa Journey so that they can seek out help and maybe a little support.. we are not looking for condescending attitude! Yes, I am a firm believer that "if the shoe fits, then wear it" but FGS lighten up just a little for ONCE as if you haven't ever been in a pickle... and egospiers, GOOD LUCK in your Journey and for what its worth... enjoy that Baby when he/she arrives in this cruel world!
    P.S.
Use your spell check...last time I looked... BORN is spelled with an N not an M

I guess asking a question means it is ignored like the advise you have already been given. You have so far ignored the rules for filing a petition, ignored the requirements for a petitionable relationship, ignored what we have offered, ignored the question I presented in response to you request for a question about facts. You can ignore us all you want. But ignoring the rules and requirements is just causing you to throw your money out the door. I hope the fantasy togetherness is good enough for you ,because your refusal to work in the rule and regulations is going to make it so that phone sex is all you are ever going to have. Personally I think we have all wasted too much time trying to show an extremely reality challenged person where the issues are. When you really want to know come and back, until then enjoy your pretend sleeping together , it is all you are elgible for.

As a former RCMP employee who processed criminal record checks, I would advise your friend to call a few different police stations (RCMP, provincial and municipal, everything nearby) and ask how long it'd take. The detachments I worked in had a turn around time of only 4-5 business days but if it was an urgent matter, I would just do the check on the spot. So if your friend is leaving very soon, I really recommend calling a few places and seeing what they can do for him. Be aware the record check does NOT have to be from the RCMP, as long as it is a federal record search.

Colin&Lori, it sounds like you kind of take it personal when people diss USCIS because you also work in an office. The fact is, no one will ever be happy no matter how long or short the wait is. For anything. Our society wants things done yesterday and are willing to throw money at it if they think it'll make it faster.
Last week for fun I checked out the very oldest K1 page on this forum, I think it was from 2006. Back then, it only took 30-45 days for the petition to be approved. People who were at 20-odd days were complaining it was taking too long.
You can't beat 'em and if you don't want to join 'em, just ignore 'em.

The thing that bugs me about some members here is that they act like the US government is some kind of customer-service oriented business. The last time I checked, the processing times website doesn't say, "Get your approval in 5 months or it's free!" USCIS is NOT Pizza Hut, and we are not ordering pizzas here. We are paying for the cost to move to a different country and they are not obligated to process it quickly. It takes as long as it takes and if people can't handle that, they need to go elsewhere. They don't owe us speedy service, they are not a business.

I'm sorry, you can't dismiss me because I see my fiance often. I had to give up my ENTIRE LIFE to see him more often, I used to live a $2000 plane ride away from here. Just because I get to see him doesn't make my opinion any less valid. This isn't a battle of whose life is worse. Nobody here is in their ideal situation. None of us WANT to be going through this hassle but we do it because it's probably the only way to be with our fiance and for that I can't be unhappy.
If I didn't see him for this entire process my opinion would be the same. Be happy you met your fiance and that you have a good relationship and be happy that some day in the relatively near future, you will be able to start your life together. That is the bottom line and I don't care if you think I'm a waste of your time because I see my fiance. You think I enjoy this process, too? Do you think I like waiting all this time for a piece of paper? Grow up.

I agree with Yes and No.
They are as accurate as the members who post them are. Expect variances for multiple reasons. A: because some members want to keep accurate info for their own purposes and some want to to help others and are accurate. Some members update as they remember and may not be as accurate. B: it doesn't take into account the specifics of your case and any slowdowns the government may be working with. For example if the government gets a backlog with other request types they may move some staff to clear those out, causing a backup as they try to balance out all the requests. Also groupings of holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years in roughly 1 months time will distort times for those filing close to that time.
The lesson here is. Use the estimates to see if your case is being processed in a timely fashion and move forward with contacting them if its past the normal amount of time. I wouldn't use the estimates to plan anything money related, for example travel or planning weddings. If you do its unlikely even with the help of a Congressman/woman to get on track to not have to reschedule. Others here have contacted their Senators and State Representative (House of Representatives) to help and it may fix the problem if you fell through the cracks but it wont speed you up, at best its useful to get them working on something that fell by the wayside outside of 'NORMAL' processing. Not for getting you through the process faster.

People here are just trying to help you and to prepare for what's to come, which is a guaranteed denial. It isn't us judging the way you got married, or your relationship, it's telling you what a marriage is by their definition. If you were not present at your marriage or it has not since been consummated, you will NOT get a visa. You're being incredibly rude, when people are attempting to tell you the TRUTH. Not their opinion, but FACTS.

Are you old enough to get married? Yes? Your birth certificate proves that. Over 18 does the trick. Are you single? ever been married? No? You are eligible. The form asks the names of previous spouses. None? If you were previously married, then you have to include a copy of and and all divorce documents. same for your fiancee. If neither of you has ever been married, the so state. You are eligible. Did you BOTH sign letters of intent to get married? Yes? Then you are "willing". You are now "willing and able" and you get approved.
This really is not a difficult process. Read the guides and instructions here and do not imagine things that are not stated. if they need something from you, they TELL you they need it.

To enter Canada and plan to work there illegally will lead you into a lot of trouble. You will find it a lot more difficult to find an employer who is willing to hire you without proper authorization than in the US. They cannot hire you without a Social Insurance Number and you cannot get a Social Insurance Number without either a permanent or a temporary residence permit. All employers who wish to hire foreign employees need to submit the job request to the Canadian government first proving that they cannot find a qualified Canadian to do the work, and that is extremely unlikely in any sales position or any landscaping position. Only after they receive that permission are they able to apply for a specific individual with specific qualifications which are also vetted before that person is issued the necessary employment visa.
You really need to realize that foreign countries are just that - foreign countries sovereign onto themselves and with their own policies and procedures regarding immigration and foreign workers. You can't just pick up and move to another country and expect to be allowed to live and work there without going through the proper steps.
Another issue you need to remember. If you wish to sponsor anyone to the US you need to fulfill certain financial requirements from US based income. You need to prove through income tax returns (and a US citizen has to file a US tax return regardless of where they live in the world declaring their world income) and employer letters that you are earning and will continue to earn at least 125% of the poverty level for a household of your size. If you cannot do this, then you need to find a co-sponsor - someone who does meet this minimum standard - who is willing to commit themselves to a possible lifetime obligation to the federal government through a legally binding contract to reimburse the government for any means-tested benefits your partner may incur until the terms of that contract are met. If you are not working in the US, then you will not be able to meet the terms required for the Affidavit of Support. Foreign based income doesn't count.
As much as we all wish we could just pick up and move in together, a long-distance international relationship is not like a relationship with someone in the same country. Sometimes you have to move faster or slower than you would wish and you have to accept that there will be a great deal of government involvement in all aspects of your relationship - whether you are living here, living in her country or trying to live in a foreign country.

Haha yeah, I think everyone feels like that when they're first figuring it out. It took me a few reads of everything on this website related to the K1 before I finally understood it all. Make sure you read the guides, wiki (click the link at the top, then click "show all pages" and read the ones you find relevant), and the FAQs. Then read them again, and again. And then you should be good to go.

Your fiancee will need to be making at least 125% of the established poverty line for however big her family size is (you said she's a mom) + you. So if she has 1 kid, she needs to make 125% of the poverty line for a family of 3.
She and you should read this, which explains it better: http://www.visajourn...content/support
