lbounds got a reaction from OldUser in Passport renewal Approved then “in process” again
Well I finally got my son’s US passport today. They received the application on March 29 and we didn’t get it until June 3rd. I paid extra for expedited when I applied.
This was a frustrating experience when I tried to contact the phone number for any status. One time I was on hold for 3 1/2 hours. Other times I would call and the automated system would just hang up on me because of too many calls in the queue. I did contact my representative to try and assist.
For anyone that needs a passport renewal I would definitely do it 4-5 months before your travel date.

thanks for the helpful and humorous replies  After some further thought I went ahead and booked his own seat. More expensive however I know it will be more comfortable for my wife and son that way anyway.

lbounds got a reaction from JKLP in Confused about CRBA appointment system Manila
I need some help as my wife will be mailing the CRBA paperwork to Manila soon. We are waiting for the NSO birth certificate which is needed which we will have on Nov. 18th.
I want to go to be with my wife and newborn son (who I have not yet seen in person) but I need to know:
    1. How long after the CRBA paperwork is submitted does it take for them to give you an appointment schedule?
    2. Typically when they give you an appointment how many weeks is it from the time you get the notice?
I'm asking because I don't want to burn my vacation time just waiting with my wife in Philippines not knowing how long CRBA appointment time and processing may take.
Any info would be much appreciated. Thank you

lbounds got a reaction from Pamala Bull in GED
I don't know what its like now but as a high school dropout I took my GED in the 90s. I was worried at the time because it had been many years since I was in school but I needed a GED to go to technical school. The GED study book was huge and a bit overwhelming to study. Someone encouraged me to just take the tests on each subject. If I failed I could just study for that subject. I actually ended up passing them all without study.I hope it goes as well for you

lbounds got a reaction from calibob in Fiance' Family insists on wedding in Phil after USA Wedding
As someone mentioned Filipinos are a very family based culture. I saw nothing wrong with my wife wanting a second wedding in Philippines which all her family, parents, brothers, sisters and relatives could attend. Most women dream of having a church wedding with family members in attendance. If you do a k1 that's not possible.
Also if your wife wants a Catholic marriage they view you as unmarried as they don't view any marriage outside of a Catholic one a real marriage. Doesn't matter if you have a marriage certificate and report of marriage.
In any case it does cost money for a wedding ceremony but if you had a civil one in the US like me you saved money on the first one anyway.
For me it made my wife extremely happy and it was the right thing to do for us. Good memories for that occasion with her family and friends. No regrets for spending money on a ceremony. You can do that within your budget the same as you can in the US.

I've been using globe international as well for many months. It's very good compared to two other companies we used before. We plan to stick with them long term.

What a joke, $20 or $30 is not good enough to make 90% of people think about the fine. $20 is the cost of a pizza. I see way too many people on cellphones still on the highway and everywhere else.
