Hi, I am willing to share my experience with you. My receipt date is March 2020. It has been longer than the processing time, so I submitted the inquiry on July 13. Their response email said "Expect a reply by August 4, 2021," but I did not receive anything.

So on August 14, I emailed through dhs.gov to them and ask why I did not receive a response from my inquiry. They replied "The processing of your N-400 is within our current processing time. Please see our Web site at www.uscis.gov for processing times."

I don't really understand their reply because it truly has been over my processing time in my local office.

When I tried to submit another inquiry after 30 days, after filling out all data, it still showed as following message even after 30 days from my first inquiry. I tried many times after 30 days, but still showed the same message.

    "Existing Inquiry Found"
"We have located a previously submitted inquiry with confirmation number ( SRXXXXXXXXXXXXXX ) for the same issue. You may not submit a new inquiry at this time. You can expect to receive a response to your previous inquiry within 30 days of the date your inquiry was submitted. If you do not receive a response within 30 days, a new inquiry can be submitted at that time or you may call USCIS Customer Service at 1-800-375-5283 or 1-800-767-1833 (TTY). You will need to provide the inquiry confirmation number when you call."

I am currently in the 15th month, having applied May 2020.

I appreciate the share. If that was your experience, I guess I'll just wait the 30 days and see what happens.

    Thats great!

I just looked and the Atlanta office processing times went down by 4 months and so did the receipt date.  It's still in April of 2020, but it was Nov 2019 last week.

    Fingers crossed for us all.

I hope I'm doing it right.

Just providing the info they are asking for on the form.

This is what I have so far:

"I received a Biometrics Reuse notice on Jan 20th, 2021. That was the last action on my case.
There has been no update since then.
This week will be 15 months since I filed. "

  3. Sending in an e-request.

    I filed online May 6th, 2020.

Bio reuse notice Jan 20th, 2021. No update since then.

I am an Iowa resident so I'd be going to Des Moines for anything further, I would assume.

The receipt date for an inquiry is July 30th, 2020, so I'm safe to do so now.

The "estimated time range' is 8.5 Months to 12.5 Months. I'm now in month 15.

I just want to be done.

  4. Well everyone, a week has passed and we're still at "Things are taking longer than expected." It was counting down the days 10 days ago, now back to waiting. *eye roll*

Is it worth to send an e-request/inquiry asking what's going on?

The state where I reside - Iowa - has an estimated time range of 8.5 to 15 months. We're now in the 15th month.

The receipt date for a case inquiry is April 24, 2020. I applied May 6th, 2020. Does that mean I should wait?

Is it just me or do Canadians get longer processing times than any others? lol. I keep seeing Canadians having to wait like a year and a half for citizenship, and I had to wait over a year for my IR-1 even though I had been married to my wife for 3 years when we filed from Canada. She moved about a year before me, because of it.

I don't know, the whole system, especially since the start of COVID, has been so unpredictable.

Some of us have been waiting over a year and others that applied this year are already done! I don't get it.

I procrastinated and waited 10 years to apply so another month or so doesn't really bother me.

  6. Hey all.  Just checking in with my progress, or lack thereof. *grumble*
Applied online under 5yr rule: May 6th 2020
Bio reuse notice: Jan 20 2021
No updates since receiving bio reuse. I'm thinking it might be time for a case inquiry.
When I do log in I get the "Things are taking longer than expected. You do not need to do anything at this time" message on my case.
It's frustrating as people who have this year are already finished and I'm here waiting over a year for any movement. *sigh* 😕
I know COVID is still affecting things, but jeez.
    *Apologies for the mild rant*

It looks like it depends on the way that you file as well...3 yr or 5 yr!  I did get this update yesterday (Filed May 15, 2020- Bio Reuse Jan 20, 2021)

    Estimated time* until case decision:

    approx. 5 months

*These completion projections are based on case processing for applicants who have been lawful permanent residents for at least 5 years. For all other applicants, completion projections may vary.

That's the message I have on mine as well.

Except the "taking longer than expected - you do not need to do anything at this time."

Thank goodness my card is good til 2023.

    Applied May 6th 2020

Nothing yet!  I am in the same boat, I filed on May 15, 2020 and recieved my resue January 20, 2021.  I am two days over the 1 year mark.

I am hoping I wil be in the the 13 month windo wand not the 23 month window (The processing times for the Atlanta office).

    This is me as well.

    Filed May 6th, 2020 - online

Bio reuse dated Jan 20, 2021

    No update since.

I'm from Iowa and the processing timeline is 8 to 13 months for the Des Moines office. Or 8.5 to 13, whatever. 😋

So.... I guess I'll keep waiting.

    Filed N400 online : May 25 2020
    Biometrics reuse : August 08 2020
since then : zip! No status update and no official notifications/documents

I did for a while have an estimated completion date mid march 2021. That date blew through with nothing happening, since then I've had no updates or new estimates. However, like many, I've seen various odd banner messages and displays briefly appear on the website - including lack of all case info(!), "Request for evidence" and other strange messages - all of which came and disappeared without explanation or fanfare. Watching this forum, I've seen others with similar messages, so in absence of other correspondence, I put these down to technical glitches. For example, I currently have the "Your N-400 personalized processing time is down for maintenance" message like others.

After the last odd message (the RFE) I reached out to the technical desk at USCIS asking if it was a website issue, or an issue with my application. They couldn't check anything, so they opened a case. Somebody did call me back and raised a service request with my local office (Memphis). I got an email back from the local office for the SR, and it says:

    <quote>
    What We Have Done:
USCIS has reviewed your Service Request and determined that your application is currently in the pre-processing stage. After the pre-processing stage is complete, your file will be scheduled for an interview. No further action is required from you at this time. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by delays in processing.

    What You Can Do:
If you do not receive a decision or notice of other action within 90 days, please contact the USCIS Contact Center at the phone number below. In the interim, if you need to replace or renew an existing Permanent Resident Card, please refer to the Form I-90 (Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card) instructions for further information.

We hope this information is helpful to you. We appreciate your continued patience.
    <end quote>

Anyone have any clues what this really means or where it leaves me? And does "pre-processing" just mean my case is now in the "In-tray" on the local office desk, and they just haven't gotten to me yet? I guess I just wait it out until mid-June at which point my case is outside of normal processing (unless USCIS change the processing times again, which has already pushed this date back for me twice in the last month). Then, I could at least raise a SR to that effect...

Any knowledge/experience anyone can give, very gratefully received!

I am in a similar boat:

    Filed: May 6th 2020 (online)

Bio Reuse Notice: Jan 20 2021

    No updates since then

I did call back in September after not hearing anything, and I was told that there was no issues/red flags with my case, that it was being processed normally - whatever that means these days - and told that I just have to wait.

I wonder if I should call again as now I'm past the 90 day window since the last received notice.

Yep the same, everything is back no updates!

Just checked mine a few moments ago and still the same.

No update in case status, just that my application was received and a notice sent.

In documents, my bio reuse dated Jan 20/2021.

*sigh* that's been almost three months.

No point in calling, I'll just be told to keep waiting.

Fingers crossed something will happen soon.
