Last day before Thanksgiving today! Let's hope for some touches / approvals!! (however am guessing CSC is working again on Fri??)
Have a great day everyone!!!

Hey guys!
Does anyone know where the civil surgeons for the medical examination are located in Sweden?
Just the Stockholm area?
Thanks in advance!
I was living in Stockholm so I saw the Stockholm doctor but I think there is someone in Malmo as well. If you are not from Stockholm, the Embassy can probably schedule your DR appointment on the same day as your interview (which always is in Stockholm) so that you don't have to travel twice - just send them an email or call them and ask! The staff there is really friendly.

Took my driving test today and I can gladly say I passed, it was a doddle, nowhere near as difficult as the UK one. Apparently looking in your mirrors isn't an requirement on the US driving test when you want to negotiate a junction!
Congrats!!!
I just started taking my driving lessons. I have never driven before - never needed to - but I really have to learn now! Will hopefully have my license sometime beginning of next year.
No updates from me today, no touches / emails

Hi everyone! I've been on VJ for a while but didn't know this forum existed! I am Swedish and came to the US in July on a K-1 visa. Applied for AOS in Sep and currently waiting. I live in Connecticut.

I think I have been approved....... Umm, just received an update that they have mailed me a notice that they have registered "this customer's" new permanent resident status and that the new resident card will be mailed to me within 60 days...
This better be an approval... LOL..

Hi Freyja
Bring your AP, passport and marriage certificate. I will do the same too, I will fly to my country next month. Those three docs are enough to show to immgiration. I read some posts about and also asked some friends here. That will be okay with our passports
Thank you cutedolphinn!!! Thats great news. Then I don't have to worry about getting a new passport in time for my trip!
-
Has anyone travelled abroad with their AP yet? What was your experience? I am going to Sweden first week of January. Getting a little nervous because the ticket is in my married name (since AP is in my married name) but my passport is still in my maiden name. I can apply for a new passport at the embassy in New York but they say that you need to prove your residency with green card. So if I don't get passport on time - has anyone tried flying on passport in maiden name together with marriage certificate as proof of name change?

Approved!!! Interview was completely painless. The officer person mainly just confirmed a few things like name, address, that my husband has no biological kids and hasn't been arrested and no plans to become a terrorist
Took about 10 minutes altogether. He actually approved us and then was like, "Oh yeah, do you have anything together like bank accounts?" to which I handed him the packet I brought with us. We spent an hour last night at Kinko's making copies of pictures (and dealing with incompetent employees that can't fix their own machines
) only to have him wave them away when I tried to show him them. That's the part I was looking forward to! I think it helped matters that my 4 year old pretty much wanted nothing to do with me and lounged all over "daddy" the entire interview
So, we're done with the craziness for 2 years, woot!!
Good luck to the rest of you, hope everyone else has speedy approvals!
CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!

3 weeks today since I had a touch. Hoping for at least a touch this week!!
-
Interview is tomorrow morning--I feel all panicky!! I keep telling myself we have nothing to worry about, but after all we've been through to be together, the thought that we could be denied is scary! I wish I could just fast forward through the next 15 hours!!
Good luck!!!!! We're all thinking about you
Don't worry, it will all be over soon and you'll do great!

From what I have been observing, applicants from California usually will receive an interview. Somehow I think applicants who live in certain states will get an interview. I may be wrong but that's just my observation.
Cheers...
Agree. Maybe some states have more resources and are able to interview more while others don't. However seems only those entering on K1 get transfers. From what I have seen, those on B2, H1B, J1 etc all have to have interview.

Those of you who walked in to a SS office for a number , did you receive a number that day ??
Or do they send it to you via mail ??
Ross
They send it by mail. I don't remember how long it took for mine but it was really quick.
-
Another new week! Let's hope for a good one!!!
-
Anyone know the answer to this ??
Can we use the EAC to get a SSN ?
We tried to get SSN before we applied for AOS and were turned away
Ross
Did they say why you were turned away? I got a SSN before even applying for EAD and AOS. Had no problem. However I did it before the wedding and thus my passport was in the same name as my SSN. If name change was the reason you weren't able to get the SSN, you should be fine once you have the EAD. I had to get SSN and once we were married, apply for a new one in my married name.

Today I went to my local social security office to request a card and had no problem whatsoever, even though I haven't received the letter of approval on the EAD/I-765... Just took my EAD card, electric bill (they didn't even ask for it), passport and I was done in less than 45 minutes. The nice lady who took care of me told me that I should get it before 8 days (in the letter they gave me it says 2 weeks)...
Well, today I decided to check again on my case st atus on the USCIS webpage and no update on my I-130 since Sept 11, no changes on the I-485 since they received the answer to the RFE on Oct 16 and guess what? I check my mailbox and there it was my letter for the initial interview!!!!!! We're so happy! Is for Dec 14th... And I was worrying so much for the lack of touches on the webpage as of today. My letter is dated Nov 6 and only God knows how many grey hairs I have grownth since I started all this on Sept 4th of this year.
I have a question... I have been married for less than 2 years (on Jan 2nd will be 2 years) and since our interview is in mid December will this be a positive factor to get the permanent card or will it be/work at the discretion of the interviewing officer to grant us temporary green card since we haven't met the deadline of 2 years?
Advice, anyone
Congrats!!!!! That's great news!!! Good luck on Dec 14! What a wonderful Christmas gift!!!
I don't know for sure but even though you have almost been married for 2 years, it is still not 2 years and I think your GC will be a conditional 2 year one.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Still nothing today
so that means 6 days from now I will have not been touched for a month. ugh. I hope they didnt lose our case.
Several early September filers had their AOS approved within 60 days after NOA but seems CSC is slowing down...
-
Hey guys, what is the "average" waiting time for AOS approval following the biometrics?
We submitted our AOS only 2 months ago so I'm not worried, just trying to get a general feel for when I should be expecting it. Our biometrics was 4 weeks ago this weekend and we haven't had any touches on it since then.
I already have my AP and EAD.
I haven't had a touch since 10/27 (right after my biometrics). Seems there's a lot of us that haven't had a touch in a while. Hopefully they haven't forgotten about us and are working on our cases!
(at the same time my AP says on the website it's still on initial review even though I received it a long time ago... so don't always trust the website... they might be working on our cases but no touches shown!)
