hello everyone,
When I file AOS, is there anyone from the immigration would come and do inspection? Because we are in our in laws house right now. I am worried and they might say that we are just staying with her and do not have our own house to stay.
I hope to hear from you.
Thank you

I was informed by one member here that k1 visa holders are eligible for SSn? is that true? if yes, how?
Yes. Just take your B.C. and passport with the I-94 attatched, and visit your local SSA office.
I just got here last monday and will get married today. Is that fine?

when i file for the EAD (I-765, Application for Employment Authorization) and the I-131, Application for Travel Document, do i need to pay it separately?
-
Hello,
I just arrived here in Honolulu and would like to know what to do next. I know I have to get marriage liscense at the Department of Health then once i have the liscence, we can get married already. Please tell me what to do next. I want to file for the EAD, the advance parole and adjustment of status. I heard I can file it all together so that I wont have to pay it separately, is that correct? I appreciate your replies.
Thank you.

You only have yourself to be blamed, you didnt do what you had to do before.your child is considered an alien that's why you were asked to pay for his overstaying.you're not here yet in the USA and yet the way you talked seems like you hate your birth country...
everythin in the philippine govertment ofc is currupt. Its not that I hate my birth country as a whole, its just that things never did change. Remember that I asked them when I got my son's CRBA and they didnt informed me of such to mislead me as well. That was confessed by a friend of mine who happens to work there as well.

hi guys,
just want to share my unpleasant experience. I got my son's CRBA last 2006 when he was just 3 months. When I got that, I inquired when should I apply for his Exit clearance, the department of immigration said I can apply for it anytime just be sure that the kid leaves not over 1 month and it only cost 1500 somthing. My fiance and I was in the processes of fixing issues before filing his petition to me that time. So I did not get his exit clearance yet. They told me that my son would have a overstaying penalty if he returns from the US and stays over 1 yr but will not be charged any penalty if he hasn't left philippines yet. SURPRISE SURPRISE. I finally got my visa and now will be flying to US on June 8, so I decided to get his exit clearance certificate last Friday May 29, 2009 and at window 35 of Department of Immigration, they told me that howcome his CRBA was given 2006 and I am applying for his exit clearance only now?? I told them what I was informed way back. So I was instructed to fill up some forms and go to the other window.
This is the window that will give you the quotations on what you will be paying and how much would it cost. It came to my surprise that my payment slip totalled to more than Php 7,000!!! I got so mad and told the girl what I was told before, and she gave me instructions how to waive the penalty costs over Php 4,000. I was instructed to go get a letter of request called 'UPON FILING" and give it to a certain officer at the back of the main immigration building. You have to go to a super dirty place and see alot of fixers around typing documents, photocopying docs also and notarizing as well. My letter costs Php 300. When I came in I dont have my kids 2x2 pics so i had his taken for Php100. I went to the same bulok building again to give my letter of request so that they can waive the penalty. The 'officer' granted my request. (wow thank you ha.. corrupt filipinos)
Anyway, I went back to the counter that gave me the quotation and told me to go straight to the cashier. The cashier stil wants me to pay the full amount despite the letter granted. It seems that he doesnt know whats that for. So i called the girls attention who instructed me to do the waiver. They recomputed it and now was down to more than Php 2,000 plus express lane fee of 500. I felt like I got no choice so I paid for it instead. I went back to window 35 to verify what I paid for, had my sons thumbmark and here's the funniest part, I was asked to come back after 5 hrs to get the certificate! Remember that I paid for express lane fee for 500 and now I am asked to go back after 5 hrs to get it! #######! This is why I hate Philippines. So beware you guys. If you guys got your CRBA, be sure that your kid will leave the philipines the same year or else, every month its a penalty of Php 300.

Try to check your insurance coverage and their policies if they indeed can cover for a new patient with pre-existing disease. Also for a new patient here in the US, it is not that simple to get and find a doctor that will accept him. And you cannot go directly to a specialist (Cardiologist), patient will need a referral from a primary physician. For new patients, the Doctor need to accept the patient and it may take 2-3 months for them to check about the patient's case and status (also of they think patient will be able to pay them, etc..).
That happened to my husband (and he is a US citizen), he is under my insurance coverage since I work in a hospital here in CA. I was looking for a Doctor to accept him as new patient and they told me that it would take 2-3 months and that is how it works. So what I did is talk to the Doctor directly. I talked to an Internal Medicine specialist that works in our hospital to accept my husband, and I got him scheduled for an appointment within a week. Then he was referred to a Cardiologist within a month and then referred to a Cardiac Surgeon within 2-3 weeks.
When he had his Cardiac Catheterization done, the cost was $37,000.00 and that is just for a procedure (and they can also do stenting during this procedure). My husband then underwent an open heart surgery for a valve replacement (which will be the same procedure= open heart= for a Bypass surgery). Lucky for my husband he don't need a bypass but only a valve replacement. But I don't want to seeor even think how much it cost.... My insurance paid for it all, but that is because I have a good Insurance coverage and I work in a hospital as an RN.
If you are worried that the cost of a bypass in the Philippines is 500K, that is way a lot cheaper than doing it here in the US. Just imagine a Cardiac catheterization is already $37K (which is p1,776,000), how much would you think an open heart surgery would cost here if your insurance will not cover for the opeartion? For your father's case, he will be needing work-ups prior to operation, like EKG, 2d-echo/doppler and cardiac cath to determine if he will be needing more than a bypass. Even if these procedures where done in the Philippines, they will have to repeat and do it here again because that is how the procedure works here. Doctors will not do things like surgery without having to check the patient themselves, and they need to do what is required before the operation.
Check your insurance coverage first then find a doctor that will accept your father and if you can do this, then I don't see anything wrong for your father to have his bypass done here in the US. But if you will encounter problems, then might as well have the surgery done there in the Phils. We have good/excellent cardiologist and cardiac surgeons in the Philippines. Don't know who your father's cardiologist is, but Dr. Tamayo is a Cardiologist in St. Luke's and she is also the Department head of Cardiac Rehab there, and she was my mentor during my Residency Training, she is a very nice lady doctor and they do cardiac surgeries at St. Luke's.
(Just an advice)
thank you for that advice. his cardio is Dra Pastores of Makati medical Center. I'll talk to him about this. and also my fiance about the coverage. thank you

is there a way for the US Citizen to bring his brother' son and daughter to the US? they are both 2 yrs old right now. What visa category is it? Thank you
-
I say if you can get a good doctor there an get the bypass for that kind of money you are by far better off, to do it there, the only way they would let him have it here is if he has insurance here. What you say it cost is cheap compared to here,
Steve
Insurance here would never pay for a pre existing condition. They would have to pay cash for the operation and the hosiptal stay.
hi guys, the reason why i ask is not to be able to get free operation for my dad. It just so happen that i get insurance from my fiance's family's business and that can cover up to my parents degree. but the thing is he is in the philippines.

hello,
im wondering if there is a way for my father to be in the US for his by pass operation.. He had a heart attack 2 yrs ago and was adviced to prepare himself for a by pass operation. I just got my k1 visa and will be leaving on june 8. Im really worried about him. he's scared going to hospitals to see a doctor. by pass here in the philippines costs 500k. i told him to go have his by pass operation already and he said, he want to have it done in the US. He tried to apply for a tourist visa so that he can go with me on june 8 but was denied.
im having mixed emotions of leaving right now. im excited to be in the US but sad because il leave him here. when i get to the US, is it possible to request to bring him there and have him do the by pass operation? I want him to be strong and healthy as i will be far from him for a while. i understand that i can petition him once i become a citizen but thats gonna take 4 yrs before i can file his petition. im realy worried about him.
thanks.

Hi all!
My fiancee was approved for her K1 Visa on Monday, April 20th! I'm just wondering how long it usually takes to arrive? She has one friend who claims her visa arrived the next day, while another friend said it took over two weeks. What are your experiences? Oh, and she lives in Zamboanga City, Philippines if that makes any difference. Thanks in advance!
if she had it delivered, it takes 5 business days since she lives outside the manila. that is if theres no review on her case. if you are on administrative review it takes normally 6 weeks to 2 months. i requested the consul if i can have mines picked up. and he approved it. i got a call after 2 business days and picked it up on the 3rd day.

After we get married, I file for the AOS, EAD, and for the application for travel document right? I have a kid with me with a K2 visa. does this mean that I pay the AOS twice, Advance Parole twice also? Is there a payment for the affidavit of support? should I include a money order for that one also and include it with the applications? If yes, there should be 7 money orders on the envelope that i will be submitting (AOS money order for me, AOS money order for my daughter, EAD money order for me, Affidavit of support money order for me, affidavit of support money order for my daughter, Advance Parole money order for me, Advance Parole money order for my kid) on to them?
If you are not planning to work right away you don't need the EAD unless you can't wait for your GC.AOS yes for you and your child, EAD not necessary if you don't have to work right away coz you don't need it anyway once you get your GC. Application for Travel Document??WhY?are you planning to go out of the country while your AOS is pending? You can't d o that unless you will have the Advance Parole...AP is only needed if you are going out of the country while your AOS is pending. If not then you don't need it that saves you a lot of $$$$.
Not correct advice... AP and EAD are NO CHARGE if filed with or after the I-485 so there is NO $$$$$$$$$$ savings
so i only need to send money order for the AOS for me and my kid and the EAD and AP is no charge for as long as it is filed along with the AOS is that right>
yes
i've seen your timeline and it says you got your passport stamped with EAD on your POE. How did you get that? Did you asked?
