hmh33 got a reaction from Harpa Timsah in Question about i485 Part 3a Place of Last Entry Into the US
Might be worth an asterisked note to explain that, so the USCIS officer doesn't get confused.

hmh33 got a reaction from Hypnos in F-1 student visa to H1b while waiting for priority date?
Yes, assuming you can find an employer willing to sponsor your H-1B.

hmh33 got a reaction from Hypnos in Working Without Employment Authorization
Yes. Any legitimate employer wouldn't let you start work, because you would not have the required documents to fill in an I-9. Working under the table is illegal.
Whatever you do, do NOT claim to be a US citizen on an I-9 (or in any other situation) as it leads to a lifetime bar from the US with no possibility of waiver.
Depending on circumstances, you may be able to apply through your international student office for some form of work authorization. This page has a reasonable summary of the options: http://www.isso.cornell.edu/immigration/f1/F-1work.pdf

hmh33 got a reaction from Hypnos in AOS, do I qualify for financial aids?
Depends on the state and the college. Ask them.

hmh33 got a reaction from CaroSL in 9 years in the US. time to do something about it... (J-1 spouse)
The only special thing that you should do as a J-1 not subject to the 2 year home residence requirement is to include with your I-485 a photocopy of your DS-2019, clearly showing the checkbox that indicates you are NOT subject to the 2-year requirement.

hmh33 got a reaction from sciencenerd in US citizen entering the US with foreign passport
If you did try to enter without a US passport, CBP still have to let you in. They won't revoke your citizenship for it. But it will be a big hassle and they'll probably fine you.

hmh33 got a reaction from NevermindVz in I485 is under extended review!!!???
That's true, but with a Muslim name it seems like a reasonable bet.
Sara's comment about the VWP entry has no basis in fact.

hmh33 got a reaction from seth2013 in Filing I-130 and I-485 together
At this point, that's really not relevant.

hmh33 got a reaction from bsd058 in Canadian, what's my status ?
If I read you right, your USC boyfriend has overstayed in Canada. The US government won't care about that.

This is a very big problem. You need a good lawyer.

hmh33 got a reaction from Blue Bianchi in Applying for i-485 on my own
To be clear: her future in the US is in grave peril. Falsely claiming US citizenship is just about the worst possible thing she could do in terms of immigration consequences. You need a top notch lawyer. Many don't have what it takes. Choose one with a great track record and directly relevant experience - don't choose one just because her brother used him/her and they seemed to do okay with that case.
