Saddle Bronc got a reaction from Nagishkaw in Egypt Islamists defiant over Christian governor
What happened in Egypt was roughly akin to what happened in Pakistan in 1969 (one autocratic out-of-touch dictator replaced by another--and in Pakistan's 1969 case, far stupider). My prediction: Hatami will declare "extension" of martial law in 2011, and things will quiet down for a time.

Buchanan incorrectly stated that both bumped-off Pakistani officials were Catholics.
While Shahbaz Bhatti (late Minorities Minister) was indeed Catholic (and had "tweeted" that he expected to be seeing Jesus soon shortly before his death), late Punjab (province) governor Salman Taseer was a half-English (mum's side) Shimla-born mohajir, by definition Pakistani Muslim whose native language is Urdu and who migrated at Partition from an area now in India (incorrect definition also includes their Pakistan-born descendants such as MQM supremo Altaf Hussein), the same ethno-religious group as Pervez Musharraf, Aslam Beg and A.Q. Khan.

Saddle Bronc got a reaction from chri'stina in American Christians buy millions of Bibles they seldom read and don't understand
The worst part is that most Americans' Bibles are of NIV (Americanese slang) translation--which should be a "no brainer" for them to understand (I can understand original KJV--due to my having to1 paraphrase three Shakespeare plays in HS--and Pras2 can nicely understand NKJV which is more like modern Brit).

basically, even to get a HS Diploma in Calgary required student to take Grades 10-12 English courses--and for admission to college/university, specifically higher-level (Calgary school boards have two stream-levels of HS English there--higher indicated as 10/20/30 and lower indicated by 13/23/33) given that English is neither her mother-tongue, nor (unlike me, raised in Calgary--Canadian English is a portmanteau of Brit spelling and Americanese grammar/semantics) raised in an area where English is commonest language--an excuse Americans simply don't have

DEA = excellent candidate for the bin; "war on drugs", colossal failure from get-go (especially given that CIA was smuggling in heroin 1981-1988) and laws against "grass" were basically due to lobbying from Hearst, who had stocks in the wood-pulp paper companies which supplied his presses.

and I'll back it up with a 1968 statement from erstwhile (1967/03/06-1969/02/03) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister (equivalent to any Canadian Province's Premier) C.N. Annadurai, who was himself an unabashed socialist. "Union is like onion--you can keep peeling and you won't get any different shape".

Trace Gallagher: "With the 1930s came ... the labor movement -- organization by way of strikes, votes, violence."
Accurate statement, that not even your article discredits.
Limbaugh says "government union" leaders "essentially are communists."
tell me it's inaccurate? Go head. You'd be quite wrong. It's painfully obvious when these unions want the government to take money from ordinary people who work hard and give it to other people. Perhaps more socialist than communist, but the idea that's put forth here is correct.
Kristol: "Thank God most of the workforce isn't unionized."
Another rightful assertion. If most of the workforce was unionized, we'd be in an almost completely socialist society where no one's value was above anyone elses. While I know union people are all for this and many others as well, this is no where feasible and we would get no where as a nation without ultimate freedom of benefits for those who do work hard and EARN their right to better wages rather than joining a group that fights for them.
Limbaugh: "If you want to clean up the schools, get rid of the unions."
I shouldn't even have to explain this one. My reference to how the teacher's unions in Minnesota can hold the state hostage should be enough of an explanation here.
Beck compares the SEIU to al Qaeda: The leaders get "the youth" to do their dirty work.
While the Al Qaeda reference is a bit much, the idea is the same. the union leaders usually get the grand benefits while the youth do all the dirty work outside. The leaders sit back and make 'suggestions/influence' the youth when it's the workers who will suffer and the leaders will continue to reap benefits and stay wealthy no matter what.

Saddle Bronc reacted to JohnSmith2007 in American Workers Versus the Tea Parties
Ok, I am not going to argue with you about this but I want to give you something to think about. In America everyone has the right to unionize as long as a majority of workers vote for it. So ask yourself this, why have the number of union workers gone from 30% in the 40's to around 10% today? If unions were a great thing that must be preserved why is their power going away? Because like myself most people see unions as looking out for the union and their political influence rather than looking out for the workers. You may not believe it but I have been a union member a lot longer than a non union one. In every instance I have gotten better pay, better benifits and less hassle in my non union jobs than my union ones. In a union everyone is lumped together. Those that try harder are not given the chance to advance because of contracts and rules. I have seen lazy people that do nothing sheltered by the unions while hard working people are held back. When I was in a union I had to wait until I had my time in before I could get a raise. And then my raise was limited to what the contract calls for. Today I have the ability to walk into my boss's office and say, " I have done this and that for the company. I have brought this value to the company. I deserve a raise." You know what? Every time I have asked for one I have gotten it. Why? Because I don't depend on some bargining committee to negotiate for me. A union protects the lazy and holds back the hard working. That is why they are going the way of the dodo. You are trying to blame the unions downfall on some right wing/ big business plot. That isn't the case at all. Unions are just out of date and no longer needed.
