  1. Hi Everyone.

The day for sending out is finally getting close ( I am shooting for tomorrow).

The only question I have is this: I have counted that I need 4 sets of 2 passport photos for the following:

    I 130: 2 of Non USC/2 of USC

    I 485: 2 of Non USC

    I 131: 2 of Non USC

    I 175: 2 of Non USC

Is this correct. I read a while back that some had sent in less and been ok. Reason being that is a big cost and seeing as how I am a little low of the funds (not being able to work and all, and my hubbys B'day coming up next week) I wanted to see if there was a shortcut on the photos so I can get this sent in. I'm tired of waiting.

  2. Hi! We live close to Turner Field, somewhat downtown.. :)

Hey, another Canadian in the Atlanta area! Nice to meet you Steph. Whereabouts are you located? (We're about 22 miles south of Atlanta).

Tonight was a stir fry/saute with the left over roast chicken, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, corn, peas in a garlic ginger sauce and spiral noodles, a salad and ice tea. We got into the 80s ehre today and are currently under a dark threatening sky with thunderstorms in the forecast. Right now it is that pause before the storm and it goes along very well with sitting back after dinner and just relaxing:-).

  3. Ohhh! I know I am a newbie, but OMG a food topic. Yeah! Me loves some food..all types, colors.

Ok now that I got over it, LOL not sure but its going to involve sitting outside in the Georgia spring weather with a cold glass of white wine...hell it might just be cheese. Ahhhh

  4. I am seriously thinking about going straight to them. Yeah, well I would think he would like me to get a EAD asap. (I need it, I am not used to not making my own money, i have since I was 16.)

I have to think of something!!

  5. I need to vent! I was supposed to send in my paperwork the 8th (yesterday), buuut hubby still has not got the tax records and such from his CPA. (he tells me " oh he is really busy")...I almost blew a bullet! I have been diligently filling out and gathering all documents and I ask for a small thing to help and GRRRRRRR

So i got mad this am and now feel terrible...but still GRRRRR

  6. Look what I found:

    Hope it helps!

  7. Ohhhh!

Ok I got too excited about that one! So i read it (like I should have before) and it seems the best way would be to file the packet ASAP (as I can only change address online once the packet is "pending") and then change it.

Will this make any difference as far as the bills and such that I am sending with the packet?

Sorry so many questions....I am a bit OCD

    Thank you so much!

  8. Hi there BradnKim

Yeah I was here on visitor as well when we got married I am filing an I-130 with the AOS. the I-130 is really not a hassle at all and about $335 fee.

Feel free to Personal message me at anytime as it looks like we are in the same boat here :)

    Hey there.

Yes I am planning on sending it out on the 8th if my husbands CPA can get me his taxes for 07 on time. :)

    Yeah here we go!!!! :jest:

    Hey Steph,

Just curious if you are just filing AOS from the US or are you guys going the K-3 or CR-1 route? I am trying to find others in our same situation... my Canadian husband is here in the US with me... he came as a visitor and we got married (totally not planned). Now we are wanting to just file AOS while he's here instead of him going back and filing the K-3 and waiting so long to be together again.

    Thanks!

  9. Waaah!

So it looks like I will have to wait a couple weeks in order to send out the AOS package. Everything is ready to go, buuut we just bought a house with a pool on a lake. YEAHHH, so we will be moving so I am going to have to change all the addresses on the forms.

Buuuut, another thought I had was to just send it in with the current address (becuase a good friend of ours will be renting our current house) and then do an address change later (like after I send in the paperwork and get at least 1 NOA? Thoughts anyone?

Or can I change my address online? Does it cost anything. OMG! I am so impatient but want to do this right.

  11. Hi! Did you send with a signature confirmation? If you did, the USPS will not deliver it to a po box?

Wild Guess: Processing center is the local post office "processing center".

    Hi guys,

I sent my AOS Bill to NVC in early morning on March 31 2008. It was a guaranteed delivery By noon on April 1st., according to the post office clerk. However, it was not delivered as promised. Today is the 2nd. I just checked on USPS WEBSITE aBout the status. It says: Your item arrived at the SAINT LOUIS, MO 63179 processing center at 10:59 AM on April 2, 2008 and is ready for pickup. What does that mean? Does that mean that USPS is waiting for someBody from NVC to pick up my AOS Bill? Has this happened to anyone Before. This is the first time I mailed an express item to a PO BOX. Your response is appreciated.

  12. I just want to say "WALMART S***KS"

I worked for a commercial property management company that had Walmarts on 2 of its properties. When I left that company they owed about 6 years of Association Fees!

Everytime we would contact them we would get the run around and they would pass me to another "account executive" for us to "get paid" that was 2 years ago and they still have not paid.

They take advantage of everything they can including people. I dont shop walmart or sams club!

  13. I will definitely keep this in mind, it looks as if this might not occur till I have the permanant Green Card. I just wanted to be sure I could do it before actually becoming naturalized.

    Thanks so much

Keep in mind the green card is for residency in the USA, NOT for living abroad. The conditional one tends to be more critical of this than the permanent one.

    Maintaining Permanent Residence

You may lose your permanent residence status if you commit an act that makes you removable from the United States under the law in section 237 of the Immigration and Nationality Act. If you commit such an act, you may be brought before the immigration courts to determine your right to remain a Permanent Resident.

You may be found to have abandoned your permanent resident status if you:

    • Move to another country intending to live there permanently.

    • Remain outside of the US for more than one year without obtaining a reentry permit or returning resident visa. However in determining whether your status has been abandoned any length of absence from the US may be considered, even if it is less than one year.

    • Remain outside of the US for more than two years after issuance of a reentry permit without obtaining a returning resident visa. However in determining whether your status has been abandoned any length of absence from the US may be considered, even if it is less than one year.

    • Fail to file income tax returns while living outside of the US for any period.

    • Declare yourself a nonimmigrant on your tax returns.
