Our local office was so backlogged, that going through CSC saved used at least 6 weeks of waiting.
Our "local office" was 150 miles away.
I personally don't think the CSC transfer is that great. I've seen people get their interviews here in Long Island just as fast or faster.

Guys.. got RFE in snail mail today... and guess what... they asked for the same taxes we sent already with first RFE!!!!!!!! We have no idea why they do all that with us!!!!!! + they told us that our Affidavit of support signature expired because we signed it 6 months ago! It is lie as we signed it 4 months ago!!!!!! So i guess you never will prove to UCSIS that you are not stupid... Just gonna sing new Affidavit and send same papers (Taxes) we sent before, but my husband is gonna attach letter saying that we already sent all that with 1st RFE in April.... AHHHHH!!! it is so stupid!!!!!!! can anyone explain me that????
That's just plain wrong. You've got to love the efficiency of government!!!!!!!
i know... i want to scream and cry....
:crying:
:crying:
I hope it gets resolved soon. I'm glad it wasn't the medical. That's what those two touches in May were for. We didn't get any RFE's for the medical when a few other people did. My sister-in-law got the medical RFE too.

Question: My husband came over on a k-1 visa, we were married within the 90 days....We filed for the change of status (AOS and EAD)...And have the biometrics appointment on July 11, 2008...
Today he received a learner's permit to drive and the expiration date is 8/16/2008 - the date on his
I-94 (the deadline for getting married)....How can he renew his learner's permit without the green card?? The green card won't be available for about 9 months...Is there anyway around having the permit expire in 2 months??
Thanks!
In New York, it shows your temporary status as the day your ID (EAD) expires. However, it is just a restriction, the permit is still good for 5 years. They remove the restriction once you get the greencard.

QUESTION: I have the receipt #'s for my forms and I can't track them on USCIS...how long does it take them get the numbers online generally?...anyone know from experience?...
It took mine about 4 weeks

#1 I highly doubt your insurance will not cover the Immigration doctor's visit.
#2 You may not need an interview if you get a California Service Center transfer. Save the info just in case.
#3 One cover letter, one package
#4 Unless you have a record with the police
#5 Use your married name on all of the forms
#6 Wait for the letter in the mail about 2-3 weeks after you file normally

Hi all,
I'm just reading through all of this AOS stuff and I would like to see if I am reading all of the guides, etc. correctly.
1) We've got to go to a civil surgeon (an approved USCIS doctor basically) in order to have the rest of vaccinations done for the AOS application (my husband entered on a k-1 visa and therefore will not need the entire medical done again; I get this part). In other words, I can't take him to my doctor once he's on my benefits and pay for them on the cheap through them. He'll be on my insurance.
2) We don't have to deal with proof of common residence papers in the AOS packet at all. This stuff we have to have ready for the interview, but it doesn't get sent with the AOS I-485. Wait, this makes sense, it's too early for us to prove all this stuff. We just got married and he's been here a month and a half...
3) If we're applying for Employment Authorization and Advance Parole (travel document) with our AOS papers, then we need to include a cover letter and probably a note explaining that we don't have to pay any extra cash for this. SHould we treat this like one big packet? Or 3? The AOS, EAD and AP. I think I read somewhere that these papers get separated at the lockbox. So, should I think three cover letters/three packets or one big huge one?
4) The police clearances for the I-485. Um... didn't we just do all this in the k-1 visa packet? I assume that they don't want us to get all of these papers again. The govt already has all of these originals from when he entered the country from Peru. I assume that we are not attaching anything for these clearances.
5) David and I obviously got married, so my name has changed to reflect that. Is my name change going to cause any weird problems from the move from my old name on the original I-129f application & the I-134 I did for the Embassy in Peru? Obviously I'm submitting the I-864 and when I submit it, I will put my new name. I've already changed my name with Social Security.
6) Biometrics, based on the instructions in the 485, are done through an appt that is scheduled with us after we file. I just wait to get some letter and David goes to his appt. Nothing needs to be done ahead of time.
Thanks for your help! Yay, another whole packet of papers to do, I'm so excited!
Jumping into phase two of the immigration process. It's funny how the K-1 visa flow chart makes it look so easy at the end there. Numbers 20, 21, 22...
To answer question #1 I highly doubt your insurance will not cover the Immigration doctor's visit.

My husband and i are really frustrated with USCIS at the moment ... we filed in Feb, recieved a RFE and they recieved all additional information on March 14th .... today is June 18th - i called the USCIS phone number (that is on your case status page) and a automated message told me that my information had been recieved and that i should recieve a letter in 60 days as of March 14th .... its been over 60 DAYS!
is anyone else having late issues with them ?
i really want to get all this over and done with, as i'm now 4 months pregnant and dont need immigration issues hanging over my head lol .....
thanks for any replies!!!
I know what you mean!!....I'm due in Sept....I got my work visa but it doesn't look like anyone really wants to employ a pregger lady...my interview is July 25th and I'm freaked out about what if they deny me... I can't fly as of July....lets hope they approve us!!
I'm hoping for some good news to come your way!!
I couldn't imagine in your condition that they would say no. That would surprise me.

Still didn't recieve RFE in snail-mail... comon... you sent E-mail saying you mailed it on Jun 14!!! 4 days ...... Ahhhhhh!!!!
:crying:
:crying:
I'm hoping it's not for the medical. Two others got it for the medical with the 5/16 and 5/18 touches. However the RFE's were on 5/19. It's almost like the first medical didn't count. We did the entire medical back in January of this year to be on the safe side.
It is not for medical as we did the entire new medical check as well and sent a new sealed envelop... as we saw so many RFEs because of medical we decided to send the new one.. also we send extra taxes papers with first RFE.... so we still don't have a clue why we got RFE as we didn't recieve it yet in snail mail!!!!!!
Now I'm confused!!! I'm curious to see what the heck the RFE is about.

There isn't a deadline. But, obviously, the sooner the better. I filed about 6 weeks past my I-94 expiry date.
Thank you, I was a bit worry because I am thinking of file sometime in July, 2008. I know the USCIS website discussed about filing during the 90 days period and shortly after get married.
We filed 4 1/2 years after our deadline. No problems at all.

Thanks english rose.. He actually called me at 1.30 last night so I feel a lot better
He's missing me as much as I miss him & definately not having a good time that makes it even harder
I'll be really concerned for you when he gets deployed. (1 year) It's kind of a rough way of starting a new life. I hope all works well for you two.

I have no idea... My husband is pissed... We received e-mail.. so can't wait to see the real mail with explanation... I have no idea what they want now... we even sent completely new medical, all taxes with previouse RFE, all pictures, letters... everything... and I am here with K-1 visa.. we sent copy of our K-1 approval... etc... I am so upset....
:crying:
:crying: SECOND RFE!!!! Why???
:crying:
:crying:
Got 3rd touch after RFE E-mail!!! Comon!!! I don't need any touches now, just send me a RFE in mail, so we can send it back as soon as possible!!! Ahh!!! My husband thinks that probably USCIS did a mistake like with some cases when they tell you that interview is rescheduled, and next thing you know it is still on, and USCIS doesn't even know about it.... anyway ... can't wait to see RFE explanation.....
A touch this early in the morning? What time do they start working at CSC?

I guess the positive way to look at this is that the applications is moving. It's still ridiculous.

How about giving a nice answer instead of a demeaning one. People make mistakes. Are you now the forum police? Stop berating people for making mistakes. Are you perfect? Maybe you can start your own forum and we can all listen to your great wisdom. Teach us simple people oh great one!
Sounds like it did not go well and you were not prepared, hope they grant you a GC despite the fact you could not answer simple basic questions, that is a major red flag. Good luck.We had our interview today, and it didn't feel like it went very good...first we left our house at 11:00 am, our appointment was at 1:00pm. We got lost and turned around and finally made it there at 1:20pm. I was freaking out, my husband was very controlled, which made me even more crazy..but this was the first time I had actually been involved in the whole thing, he's been through it...We got called back, sworn in and the interviewer went through a bunch of questions like "Do you have terrorist intentions, commited any crimes, involved in polygamy, plan on or in the business of prostitution"....that one made me laugh out loud, and I don't think the interviewer appreciated that but..really? then she asked me my husbands parents name...which he had told me a long time ago, and he had them for the marriage license, but his dad is deceased and I call his mom Nanay...so I got that one wrong right away..then she asked my husband to leave the room and she began to ask me questions, the first was about the civil surgeon letter, she asked if he was immunized in Texas, I explained about the cost of seeing a civil surgeon in our area, about how they all wanted to do complete physicals, blood work, etc...before the paper work, and that Dr. Arnold was in the list of civil surgeons. The interviewer kind of berated me, saying that wasn't the smartest thing to do, send in our documentation to a Doctor we weren't seeing face to face and how it could have turned out bad...then she let me go and brought my husband in, she went through some pictures with him, and then told him we would be notified by mail, but it would take awhile to go through everything..
any opinions of how this might end? Just wondering if anyone else got a little bit messed up or if they found out right away that the interview went good...
thanks as always

Congratulations to everyone with AOS approvals
Nothing new with our AOS
....
Ours will be soon Elmira. I have that feeling. I sent mine in on 3/03 yours was 3/04 and we both had the touches on the 16th and 18th of May. Other people with those touches are starting to get approved.

Thanks Shawna!! Good luck teaching your daughter to drive:) I remember when I learned, my Dad finally just decided to break down and get me lessons since my 16 year old back-talking and know-it-all attitude was too much for him. And his random pulling of the emergency brake whenever he felt like I wasn't stopping fast enough was pretty unnerving for me. I ave very vivid memories of that time!
Wow If I back talked my father when I was 16, I would've never made it to 17. Anyone else with an old fashioned Irish father?

I would, but i'm referring to the processing times on this page, not the actual USCIS. I know that the times on this page are an average of the majority of the people on the page and that im just one of the few people whose files is on the desk of someone who probably got typhoid fever or something and is taking off for 2 weeks. Its just that the processing times on the page here have been pretty accurate so far and then all of a sudden it jumped like a week and a half and totally passed me by. I have an infopass appointment scheduled for the 24th which is a few days after the 90 day mark. But hopfully it wont come to that.
That's a good idea to be prepared. That way if it doesn't come in during the 90 days, you don't have to wait a few more weeks for your infopass appointment.
-
this is so nervewracking. i'm sure a million people have gone through the process and a million people have waited as long as me but i just hate that the processing times now say theyre processing cases from April 1st and mine was like 2 weeks before that. I just want the EAD and then they can approve my green card in 15 years if they want to.
Watch it be in my email now and i'll be eating my words in 5 minutes. Lets hope!
Wow. I'm so sorry. I'd call them.
-
Thank you all for your congrats..for those still waiting, I can tell you the email notifications were very active for me today...2 card production ordered(each for my daughter and myself) and then the welcoming notices!
Maybe things are speeding up over there!!
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you all..but no worries..the rest of this week will be a good one for approvals!
S
Did your approval come at midnight or in the morning?
-
WOOHOOOOOOO
card production ordered on my daughter and my gc!! I'm so happy...no more USCIS for almost 2 years!!
Leafy...yours is coming this week...I know it!
S
What inspiring news!!! I got the same two touches as you!!!!! I will wait with anticipation!!!

Guys.. I feel like on;y few of us left without AOS approval... or may be i am wrong...
If I'm not mistaking, there are quite a few of us who haven't been approved yet according to the lists that float around here. We definitely had some important movement on our I-485's Elmira back on the 16th & 18th of May. I know it was to verify that the medical was in order. A few people here got RFE's on the 19th including my wife's sister who sent her papers in on January 15th.
