Interview location: Doha, Qatar

I believe it is legally possible. Practically, CBP might say no. What would you do then? Refuse to enter the U.S. on your EB-2s or enter on your EB-2s?
Whereas, https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/employment-based-immigrant-visas.html#requireddocs says:
When traveling, the primary (or principal) applicant must enter the United States before or at the same time as family members holding visas.
USCIS
Thus the principal and spouse derivative can enter first on EB-2, do the anniversary celebration (and stop at SSA to order SS cards, and the DMV too). The other derivative can enter later.
Another consideration is if the principal EB-2 enters on ESTA and takes ill, the derivatives cannot enter on their own immigration visas.
i see no practical reason to do what you are planning.
Thanks for your reply. No I agree there isn't a practical reason why this is our plan, its just worked out this way that our IL has come so close to a trip we've had planned for a long time and would now unfortunately loose every penny for if we cancelled. Just trying to work out the best solution.

Spouse visa @Kw1097
We have just received our IL last night so they are defo scheduling appointments. Ours is EB NIW.
-
Just received our IL for Sep 20th. Myself and my husband already have an anniversary trip booked 10 days later and are not taking our daughter who is included in our petition. Can we still enter the US on a ESTA visa just as a tourist and then enter again later all together as a family later to activate the visa or will this not work?

Hi guys and gals,
Just wanted to start this post and see if anyone is able to get appointments in these embassies. So far all I have been getting is "There are currently no appointments available." I have been checking for about a month
Hi, which type of Visa are you? we are also waiting for our IL in Doha for EB NIW.

Congrats on moving forward to an interview! I'm still hoping for some progress in these next bulletins 🙏
Can anyone answer one thing I'm wondering? At the interview for an EB2, is the visa "yours to lose" so to speak? As in, the embassy officer is verifying the documents are correct, you are who you say you are, and that your NIW endeavor is the same as you sent to USCIS with your I140. Or, is the officer questioning the endeavor itself and you have to prove it is still valid and worthy of a NIW? Does anyone know?
Thanks
Great question... would love to know the answer to this too!

Do you mean DQ date?
My full timeline:
PD 13 Jan 2022
AR1 19 Jan 2022
Approved 6 Feb 2023
DQ 5 Apr 2023
Expedite request 11 Apr 2023
Expedite approved 13 Apr 2023
Consulate received 19 Apr 2023
Interview received 1 May 2023
Interview date 12 May 2023 (next week)
Hope this helps. Without expedite I would not be getting an interview until October November. Our consulate just keeps going further and further backlogged.
Thanks for the info. Just curious as the PD date for EB2 has now retrogressed as per the May bulletin to 15th Feb and ours is after that so we are now not expecting a IL anytime soon 😔 so annoying, feel like its one step forward and 10 back all the time. good luck for your interview, sounds like your finally at the end!

Hi everyone
How long does it take to get a welcome letter from NVC after i-140 is approved.
My i-140 was approved mid March 2023.Case sent to DOS end of March.
Haven't received a welcome letter yet.
This was our longest wait unfortunately, we waited 7 months before the case was sent to NVC after approval and then another couple of months before we got the welcome letter. Hop yours doesn't take that long 🤞

So from the 1st of May my PD will no longer be current, does anyone know how long it usually takes for them to update this? I need a new passport but don't want to send it off to be renewed and then get the IL 🤔

An update on us, too. We got our IL on 4/4 with interview in Taipei scheduled on 5/2.
Side note, based on @Kw1097's timeline, EB cases are taking as little as 20 days to process from time of delivery.

Still waiting on @snm2212's mailed case for updates. @Kw1097, @NasUK, and @Damiores should be up next.
We still haven't heard anything, although since reading another post on here ours is also an EB2 visa so the documents had to be mailed and the received date was March 15th so we may have another couple of days to wait. Another thing that may cause a problem, hoping not, is my husbands teenage son (lives in the UK and not coming with us) name appeared on the list yesterday but said N/A next to fees due. We have contacted the solicitor and they've said its a mistake and confirmed we ticked "not coming with us" on the forms so not sure why he has appeared on the list. Really hoping this is all ok and we get DQ very soon 🤞

Hi everyone.
We had our interview last week so I thought I would put a little update on as I franticly searched for something similar before ours.
We arrived at the consulate (Doha) about 45 mins early but sat in the car until 30 mins before. Went through a few different rooms with various security before reaching the final room that looked like a doctors waiting room with 4 windows/desks. We had taken a number from the first pre check room and she had given us a list of original docs we should have with us. Called to the first desk about 30 mins after and asked for original docs, he seemed to just process those on the computer and stapled a few things together before asking us for our fingerprints. Told to take a seat again and that we would be called again shortly. We then waited around an hour before we were called to a desk (you can hear everything in the room too) by this time I was feeling the stress and wanted it over and done with. This time it was a different man who seemed happy and had a friendly face, he asked my husband how long he had been in his profession? Where in the US we planned to go? If he had a job offer? to which my husband replied no, we don't need one with EB2. Happy with everything we said he then just gathered the big pile of paperwork infant of him and said "looks like your all set"
He then said the visa in the passport could take up to 2 weeks 😱 my husband needs his passport for work so he explained that and the guy kindly said come back tomorrow at 2pm and we will try and get them done for you.
The next day we all went again around 1.30pm worried that we wouldn't even get through the door without an appointment but we did. The lady on the desk in the first room said only my husband needed to go any further, myself and my daughter just sat there and waited. Around 30 mins later my husband appeared with 3 passports with visas and 3 brown envelopes 💗 fair to say this was a huge relief.
We are flying to New York next weekend to enter. Its been a rollercoaster ride and we are glad its all done.
Good luck to everyone on here, this forum has helped me a lot!!!!
