I had the same situation. I entered illegally in 2005 via Mexico. I have applied for my vawa in 2016 and then 3 months later i have received my EAD. My lawyer told me to leave the country and re-enter again to have a legally enter. My re-enter was smooth without problem.  Then a year later i traveled twice and then again . 4 travels  before Green card arrived. 

On my interview the officer looked my re-enter stamp in the passport and asked me when and where i first came in to us.  

MY EX- WIFE IS A GREEN CARD HOLDER and soon i walked out the PLAZA NEW YORK. A update in my uscis account was made to " Card being produce" 

2 weeks later my GREEN CARD arrived!   

Good luck to everyone.  The journey took 3 years

The tracking information u can find when they update your case about something being delivered to you.

I did share on my previous post. 

RFE Good moral character 

Proving the abuse was her text message. Ive printed them and sent it attached to my case. That was it!

Thank you.  I did my medical but my lawyer sent it to vermont as requested.

There was no update yet in the case. My lawyer sent me a email last night saying that the letter arirved last Saturday in his office. So  far no updates! Vermont is the local office.

What i know is that my vawa case was sent to Vermont. Not sure where my i-485 was sent after my vawa approval. 

My vawa case took 19 months to be approved

My approval letter date is different than my online approval. 

In the letter, it was approved on May and online, it was approved on October.

Case transferred on November 26

Courtesy letter,2 weeks later of case being transferred.

NY average for interview is 9 to 12 months, right?

im a man too and had my vawa approved last November. With just one RFE Of good moral character. You should look to another lawyer. Good luck!

My vawa was approved a month earlier than yours. October and still waiting for the interview! Its killing me. My vawa took 19 months to be approved.
