Ha, honestly Kip, it sounds more like the problem is you and not Russia.
Have your documents in order, don't try to start s#!t with people no matter how much you want to rep your home state, and you won't end up zip tied with no money.

You could actually make a ton of money, more than you would in the US, if you could find a company that wanted to hire you and send you to Russia. It's considered a "hardship post," and companies will pay for private schools for the kid, a driver, etc. Expats in Russia are the highest-paid in the world.

Sorry to be the pessimist and the paranoid one, but I wouldn't send her money so often. Why is she not working? Has she been out of work for a long time? Is she able to work? If so, she should. A good fiance won't want to be a financial burden to their partners.
I apologize if I crossed any lines, but to me this has a larger effect on your future relationship rather than the approval process.

Or 0. If they had a budget of 0 we could stop taking 20 billion a year from hard-working Americans who earn it.

I think abusive relationships and women staying in them have nothing to do with "American feminism" at all. Lest we forget, RUB fares about a hundred times worse in that department.
And you don't lose your right to be interested in BDSM once you have been a victim of abuse. Perhaps it's something you should explore with a therapist, but let's not remove any more agency from domestic abuse survivors.

The fall of the Mubarak dictatorship has changed the power dynamics of the entire area.
"The New Egypt" is stepping out of the shadows of three decades of stiflement and oppression under a U.S.-backed thug, and reclaiming its historical role as a leading political and cultural power in the region. In the few months since the revolution, it has already brokered the reconciliation between Fatah and Hamas, and will now effectively end Israel's 3-year blockade on Gaza. It's also re-evaluating the price of the natural gas it sells to Israel.
Obviously, the 1978 peace treaty that Israel signed with Egypt (the "Camp David Accords") is under the microscope. This agreement stipulated that as part of the deal, Israel would withdraw from the West Bank and Gaza, and that the Palestinians were to be granted full autonomy in those areas within 5 years.
Israel has been in violation of these commitments for nearly 30 years.

That said, the other side of the coin...
We let people from quite a few countries come here with no visa whatsoever. A K-1 does not grant anything except a 90 day visit. What is the problem? There can be no AOS without a marriage, so no real benefit is granted without a commitment. As far as income requirements, there should be NONE. Why should there be? Simply make family visa immigrants ineleigible for any public means tested benefits until they are citizens. Job Done. The income requirements have nothing to do with whether you can actually support anyone anyway. They are about being able to collect means tested benefits if they are granted. Simply eliminate the possibility and that is that. I really do not care if you want to live under a bridge with your foreign wife. Have at it.
I am a US citizen, I have a right to marry anyone I want from anywhere I want and you do not have to like it. The government has an obligation to protect you from my choice and needs to be assured that my choice for a spouse is of no threat to anyone else and that she will not cost you tax dollars. Other than that, it should be no one's business but my own.

which is... not have sex ever?
Excellent solution. Not. And if schools did a better job of educating kids about educating kids how to have safer sex than the abstinence-only programs that the same people who try to limit access to abortion advocate, and if we had better access to things like birth control and plan b (although I do think we should emphasize condom use for STI prevention purposes and too many girls get put on the pill automatically IMO), there would be less need for abortion. But no method of birth control is 100% infallible.

Screw your benefits package. That's still the rest of my life that's going to be affected. Men do not bear the burden of raising children. There are plenty of men that can and do step up, but for them, it's optional. Ultimately the burden of care is on the woman. Sure, there are child support laws... but if you just don't go into that state you're home free.

You don't trust girls to make decisions about whether or not to have an abortion... yet allowing them to carry a baby to term and then make a decision about whether to put the baby up for adoption or to raise it themselves is something you can trust them with?

Let's not forget that requiring a sonogram 24 hours before makes obtaining an abortion immeasurably more difficult for women who live far away from the nearest abortion clinic and cannot afford to take several days off work.
