I am Gemini
I can never decide on one thing
-
it is 9:30 pm central, 10:30 eastern. val, i am not sure what time zone you are in
. he cannot bring his phone in, so i will either have to wait until he goes home, or gets to the office to talk to him
i hope he goes home first
going to church. will be back later
You should ORDER your husband to use one of the telephone booths near the consulate to call you as soon as interview is over. He can't torture you enough with the wait

I looked at xoom just now. I am the ignorant one, so let me ask this. I clicked on choosing which country to send money to, the thing is my money is in Indian account and I need to transfer it to US account. I have taken out $6k so far, would be nice if I don't have to pay any more ATM fee on that. Anyways on xoom.com I don't see sending money to US, I do see options of sending money from US.

You can declare it when you do your taxes once he gets his W2. Usually, the interest amount earned if it is a CD account is what you need to declare. But, yes you do have to declare it.

Thanks a bunch Starlight

I loved Samantha who?
Did anyone catch Eastwick? I feel like I am missing 1 episode, but I checked with T.V guide and according to it I have been following all the episodes, they butchered the story short

Want to add, when I said consulate in India needs only 1 PCC, I meant 1 Police PCC, they do need another one from Passport office too.
-
We didn't do anything really, watched movie together (Memoirs of a Geisha), I drank wine while Joe drank brandy. We discussed big plans for 2010, reflected back at 2009.
Didn't go to the German restaurant because it was too cold and also decided to be cheap this year, got other big plans to focus on
. I actually started cooking after midnight, Joe decided to help, by help I mean standing there and opening can of tomato sauce
.

Since you are going through CR-1, I assume you did send all the documents at NVC right? So NVC will forward those documents at Islamabad consulate.
What I am wondering is did you send NVC original PCC from SWAT or a photocopy of it? Do send your husband the original if you have it with you, if anything at the interview they will ask for the original and VISA will be on hold till the time he doesn't send the original.
I am not sure about Pakistan but in India consulate needs only 1 PCC and that is from the present address. I hope everything will turn out for you.

Well I will share one, a really silly one which cost me a decent office job.
So I went to the interview, they asked me a question with American slang-- Have you ever gone cold turkey.
Hmmm what???? Now I am thinking fast fast, what the hell that means, and I gave an insane answer (which will remain secret till the day I die).
Anyways came home asked my husband what the hell "cold turkey" means......
there goes my job.

For those who didn't actually tell their parent's they hated them as teens when they were frustrated over some ruined scheme or another, did you think it? If you didn't, I don't think you can actually be human
I didn't really think of "I HATE MY DAD" but yes it might have been upsetting and I hated the situation, but you wouldn't dare to throw tantrums over it. If you slam the door, you slam the door, no one is going to ask you to come to dinner, see how long you can go without food. Your dad will not give you any pocket money, and remember it is NOT common in other countries for kids (from middle class at least) to work while they are schooling; so you are out of any money at all.

I call my FIL -- Dad
My MIL-- ######
ok, don't really talk to MIL, did talk to her on thanks giving, I just didn't address her at all, said "hi" that's it.
-
seriously? have they never told u that u couldnt do this or that and u screamed i hate you, slammed the door and didnt talk to them until dinner was served?
No you just can't do that. Although my dad never slapped me or anything but I can remember 2 distinct examples of how my parents wouldn't take my tantrums by any means
--Was having dinner I wanted a certain piece of meat from the curry, my mom couldn't find it but she did find it once the dinner was over and she called me to have it, I showed my tantrum saying how I don't care anymore and blah blah, she didn't care about me either, she threw that piece to our dog
--I was 7 or something, I don't remember why I was upset but I was upset about something and was threatning to leave the house; my dad held my hand, took me out of the house and shut the door, said I can leave whenever I want to
I don't think its really is common in Indian culture to yell or scream at your parents, smacking isn't illegal out there, so if you scream you will get the smack.

Happy new year everyone one

Do I squirm when I see someone who isn't aesthetic enough? Sure I do. I have always been the chubby kind all my life, but my first few days in Midwest actually made me feel like I am normal in size.
The thing is I personally don't like making mockery of someone because of their looks or their life partner. Hell if someone has an arrangement where the 20 year old woman is going to serve the 50 year old man, its between them. I am not going in their bedroom, I don't care what they do. Why should I even be bothered about whats going between 2 or however many consenting adults.
-
And what will you say to those "ugly" people walking down the street? Please don't get out of the house because I can't stand you?

This year passed by really quick. I enjoyed every moment of being together with my husband after 4 long years of LDR. I enjoyed adjusting to US, it didn't take a lot of effort but I was happy to be doing things on my own.
Job wise it wasn't a good year, been through a lot of disappointment professionally but hoping 2010 will finally get me somewhere more secure and something which I would enjoy doing.
I can't complain much though, I really had a good time all and all. I feel I connected more with my dad in emotional level now that I am living far away from him, so that has been a plus.
Here is hoping for a healthy and prosperous new year for everyone!

I am not hot, so I substitute it with humor hat

I was thinking if others agree to it, we can do something like MENA girls do and be all with you in the chat room at 3rd Jan night (US time)/4th Jan morning(Indian time) to support you and calm your nerves a little twisted
All who agree to this please raise your hands

glad I'm not going to be around stupidstitious, I mean superstitious people and have black eyed peas served to me...yuck!
I am not superstitious by any means, I didn't even know black eyed peas are meant to be fortunate during NYD; being a new immigrant I am trying to learn American culture and cuisine, one of the youtube channels I subscribe to showed hoppin John the other day and said its a traditional thing to do on NYD, so I will follow through.
I don't think black eyed peas are yuck, if you don't like it, you don't. There is no need to call others stupid.

I don't send money, my dad sends me money
But about package yes I do send cards by regular post and they get it. I will be sending a big package in a few days (dad ordered 8 non-duality books and I will add in some Belgium chocolates and a snuggie for gramma), but I will send it through either fedex or dhl because I just want to make sure the package reaches them in time or my dad will make me buy another set of the same book.
And Twisted
I am not from the same hometown as your husband is, but I did get married at the same town. Your husband is from Jamshedpur (beautiful city and got a whole lot of relatives living there) and I am from Port Blair.
I have sent some money to my brother but they were from western union, I don't really trust Indian postal services with money matter or valuable items.

The Walmart out here sure sells guns.
I didn't have much expectations about US, one controversial thing that caught my eyes was teenage pregnancy. I didn't realize it would be mmmm so common.
-
HOLLER!!!! Send some our way kthxbai!
sure, will do that on NYD
-
Will be cooking Hoppin John, cabbage rolls, spinach with paneer (Indian recipe) and cheddar cheese biscuit. I was going to bake pumpkin pie but I changed my mind and bought it from deli.
