  1. There are a few things to look for before you get married in another country.

--Marrying in Morocco means, your husband's interview for k-3 will be done in Morocco, given you do apply for k-3

--You can apply for CR-1 in which interview would be in Pakistan.

--According to Pakistani culture and norms CO might have his/her suspicion about you NOT meeting with the family of your husband, unless they are also going to travel with him to Morocco. If not then be ready for added scrutiny.

I personally would suggest you going to Pakistan and meeting with his family, that will show family approval and also you will get a first hand idea about the life in Pakistan. You don't have to marry in Pakistan, you can do the engagement ceremony and file for k-1.

  2. my rings are white gold and I don't think they look cheap...

I don't think its cheap per say, just when I think of gold, it has to be yellowish in color you know :P May be because in India you don't see white gold, you hardly ever see gold less than 22k, though personally I prefer 18k yellow gold because it is more sturdy compared to 22k.

  3. yellow. white looks like silver to me and cheap. they dont call it gold because its silver in color do they?

 Thats what I think about white gold. Sorry no offense to anyone, but I would rather wear silver than white gold, or if I want quality I would get platinum instead of white gold. My small mind can't fathom white gold at all.

  4. Did a fedex shipping to my hometown in India, all the books my dad wanted, some winter gear for him (he has been talking about traveling Eastern Europe, I say he will never go, but still) and some small stuff.........eeeeek had to pay $210 for shipment :dead:

  5. You will have to have a good reason to expedite your interview date. Since you are CR-1 applicant, NVC will allot an interview date. I checked your timeline and according to it you have received your DS-230 instruction package on 3rd of Dec. Have you sent it out yet?

There really aren't many people who had their interview expedited, what you might be referring to are people who got their K-3 interview date and changed it to CR-1 interview.

But either way, you will need a good reason, something like medical emergency of sort to expedite and it will be done by NVC.

  6. sorry, i dont know wht is I-751..........

    why should i get it??

    where can i get tht?

I-751 is for removing condition, which you will have to file at 90 days mark before your 2 year GC expires. So you don't need it now, you have time for it, relax and enjoy your holidays for 2 weeks in India.

  7. hopefully it is better than your biking skills, just sayin

j/k! good luck on your endeavors ;)

I know right  for some reason Joe thinks I would be much safer in a car than a bike. He doesn't drive after a near death accident, so we really need a car to commute. And plus he is tired of my everyday nagging.

I think I should start a thread later this month asking how long it took people to really get hold of driving properly.

Oh and mister has left me alone tonight to party up with his friends. Ok not party up, but he is out with his masonic lodge meeting and I am home alone bored :sigh:

  8. A big big biggggg congratulations to you Third  so you going out with a married man now :o what the world has come to. Hope you have a wonderful life ahead girlie and make some cutsie babies and oh make sure to dominate your husband ;)

I have been pretty busy lately which is a good thing, I hate the cold though. I am hoping to start driving classes once spring comes, wonder if I would be able to commute well enough or not. Yes that's right people, moi is upgrading from bike to car, thanks to one generous being I am married to. I just have to prove my driving skills to that being.

  9. There doesn't seem to be the same sort of sex-selection in cities. Ostensibly, sonograms are not allowed because of this trend, but anyone can get around that. Still, urban couples seem to be more accepting of female babies.

There is already a high imbalance in rural areas, and there are thousands of stories of fathers selling their daughters into marriage or women being kidnapped.

Sounds like the exact stories coming out of Indian rural areas. Also heard of stories of polyandry because of bride shortage, 3-4 brothers married to the same woman. More power to the woman I guess.

Would be funny to see the dowry system scenario in India, groom paying to get married.

  10. well i am happy.. woke up by a txt from my atty. and we got the date for our pre-trial hearing..!!!

now ready to go to work again... :star:

godsgift, I am happy that you are happy :luv: but I got a question, why are you resurrecting all the old threads at Poll section :P

  11. Amby - I think will be yet another breakdown there, sometime in next 2 years, and homosexual couples will be given legal status in China.

Also - lots of Russian and Indian women getting married to Chinese men (if their families have money :D ) so - is nice balance for them.

Of course, USC males are helping to drain the female populations there, too , but is really less than 1 percent of all marriage-able females ;)

India is already going through its own male-female population ratio imbalance 1000:880 or something like that; wonder what will happen to Indian men

  12. sorry to intrupt, but i hv one que.. i'm indian citizen and here on 2 year conditional green card cr-1 visa...

i wana go back to india in june.. do i need visa or any other paperwork done??

for how long i can stay in india??

No, you don't need any visa, you are an Indian national. For how long you can stay, India won't stop you for however long you want to stay but since you are a Green Card holder, you might have problem entering US if you stay in India for more than 6 months.

Being a GC holder of US, you will have to satisfy the residency requirement of US govt.

  13. It doesn't matter that your mother's maiden name hasn't been documented anywhere, you still have to put Radha instead of Rani for question 24.

I just checked my DS-230 form, it was question #17 in my form, may be the forms have changed now, but anyways I did put her maiden name.

  14. Someone from Germany might be able to tell you if that group is genuine or not, but for now that may be your best bet.

    What nationality your parents are?

You are worried about if your family members will be charged or not, the thing is till the time you don't put a complain against them they won't be charged. So you can talk to the IO, just stating you need a safe refuge to the nearest German consulate and they will provide you with that. You will have your passport in your hand, because you will have to, when you go to meet up with IO, you have to have your passport, so your relatives have to hand it over to you. So there is no point in worrying about duplicate passport.

Consulates/Embassies over the world are known for protecting their citizens, every consulate has a citizen helpline office. There have been many cases where Indian consulates around the world have helped Indians to get back to India, consulates paid for plane tickets, so I don't think German consulate would be any different either.

At the end of the day its your choice to make. I hope you make a wise decision.
