My K-1 Visa status changed to READY today. had a 221g on my interview on June 27 with no additional documents or information needed. Today completes 9 weeks and been refused for the whole time since the day of the interview with few updates. It still shows Immigrant VISA. Is this a good sign? I just don't want to get my hopes up and get disappointed. anyone has a similar situation with being refused for a while then changed to ready?

Hello just a heads up for everyone, just consulted with lawyer who handles these cases, when asking about timelines  was told more and more the US attorney is starting to fight back with motion to dismiss, after asking for multiple extensions.

This delays things. This is a new trend they are seeing this summer. Just keep this in mind. It seems now it won't be  easy to just get an approval with WOM.

    Very depressing.

In the regional forums we keep things country specific. If you would like to see something for every country pop on over to https://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/113-waivers-i-601-and-i-212-and-administrative-processes-221g/ if one is not already started feel free to start one.

Thanks everyone who has so far filled out the spreadsheet. It would be great if we could also get some people who have already been all the way through the process (if they are still following) to add in their info as well. This will grow to be a great resource for us and those in the future who come into the group!

    Hello,

I have created a spreadsheet for us all to use to track our progress. Another group used this type of sheet to track when their meetings would be scheduled from DQ date and it was really helpful to see approximate processing times. Please see attached online Excel Sheet. Let me know if you have any questions or think I missed anything that should be added. I've went ahead and added my information on the first line. Thanks!

Congratulations @Tikitch!  I had to send in the email requesting my passport, the courier slip and updated passport photos (they are only valid 6 months from date taken) and as an added measure I sent in an updated police background certificate as others were asked for that.  I wasn't, but didn't want to give them any excuse to turn around and have to ask for additional things delaying the process even further.

    Hey everyone,

As some of you older members know, I had gotten AP (DS5535 almost a year ago) and the consulate finally asked for a new medical and to send in my passport. For those who have sent their passport with the courier service, I just want to double check what documents we need to send. In the email, it says include list of documents, but I dont see anything besides the courier-in authorization certification. Am I missing something?

I'm going to talk very general here and not necessarily to you  or the other member who asked this.

So here goes, planning to go to the US and AOS is fraud and against the TOS of this website.

YOu would have to start all over and the AOS is taking even longer. Will there be any issues because of the pending file and the DS5535 I do not know. But at this point it will not be easier.

If a case is refused, it would have been refused anyway, with or without the WoM. The notion that a WoM will force a refusal because they can’t finish their checks is nonsense.

Hi @SGtoMurica, the group I was referencing in that post is inactive now as we have all been issued our visas.  That group was formed back in early 2022 when there was a large number of us all filing WOM's at the same time.
Here is the spreadsheet for anyone who is interested in seeing timelines of the various WOM cases from that particular subset of 2022 Montreal K1 & CR1/IR1 filers:  https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1oh7cj_1HiWa-JH82xOeRtYb6gJWjU3KcF7ALuyQmV4w/edit?usp=sharing

It may be helpful for all those currently on this thread who are filing WOMs to start your own chat and spreadsheet to keep one another updated.  I know we all found it extremely helpful while we were going through it.

Hi all, just wanted to update. Brief recap: my husband interviewed in Montreal on April 27 and was given 221g and sent a DS5535 the same day to which we returned promptly. His case received several updates early then an update in mid July. Other than that we have heard nothing else from the consulate.

I reached out to the US senator's office from my state and requested they contact the consulte for any information and possible expenditure to which they promptly did and received a lengthy response from the consulate the same day. The main part of their response is as follows:

"Unfortunately, due to the national security nature the U.S. visa process, the Department of State will not disclose why a case has been placed into administrative processing, and issues can often vary greatly with regard to complexity. For example, the consular official may simply need to verify additional biographical information. However, it could be much more complicated like verifying previous travel itineraries or needing a foreign country to provide criminal records, etc. That being said, there may be no issues with his application, but it may have been flagged for an internal quality control review or audit.

Most administrative processing holds can be resolved very quickly, but some take a substantially longer time. During this period, no congressional office can request expedited review or appear to influence the outcome of the application."

The two big and disappointing takeaways from this are that you may be placed into AP and your life put on hold for absolutely no reason other than "quality control" and that no one may intervene on your behalf. I found the quality control statement particularly interesting as I've never seen that mentioned as a reason on any forums I've read in regards to this process. Anyway just wanted to share and good luck to everyone out there stuck in limbo.

Hey folks lets keep this thread about Montreal only. I know it seems helpful to hear from other Consulates but this will derail this thread and cause much more frustrations. Joining groups for other WOM in other countries will not benefit you. It will just make things much more frustrating. You can not compare other places with Montreal for any of the process. Not WOM and not with scheduling and not contacting/replies from Montreal. Certainly not AP or the dreaded DS5535.

The Canada forum has it's own forum for a reason, it does not share any traits or commonalities with other countries. When it comes to Montreal, the process is like no other.

Folks that are joining this thread please do not offer advice that applies to your consulate and do not share outside groups. They are not permitted on VJ.

I see. Thank you for the info @ALC. I just checked their visa status and they got issued!
I hope that your case will be processed sooner rather than later and this nightmare will be finally over.

~~Hijack posts and replies have been split and some removed. Please understand that comparing your experience from another consulate does not help members who are dealing with Montreal. It is like apples to oranges. Experiences will not be anywhere near the same.~~

This is such amazing news!  FINALLY your Mom can join the rest of you (permanently).  Out of all the cases, I always found yours the most peculiar.  And without a WOM!  Hurrah!  @BatmanFlow!  The end is near.
