On Friday, U.S. District Judge Chutkan approved Smith's motion requesting additional time, granting Smith until August 30 to lay out his case against Trump following the U.S. Supreme Court's July 1 ruling on presidential immunity. …. Smith's one-page motion pushes the joint report required by both the prosecution and defense until the end of the month. It was originally supposed to be submitted on Friday, with a scheduled court date for August 16, but that has also been delayed until September now. https://www.newsweek.com/jack-smith-signaling-judge-chutkan-donald-trump-case-1937384

Then again, the administration may have taken a page from the history of Reagan and the very real struggles that beloved President faced during his second term. Was it not remarkable, what an administration not fractured by internal schisms, fired and/or convicted advisors . …staff accomplished in that second term. ..yeah, history teaches us all. Hats off to Joe Biden….hope he enjoys retirement . Excellent move . Well played hand.

When I read this, I shook my head in disbelief ‘’Has anyone noticed that Kamala CHEATED at the airport? There was nobody at the plane, and she ‘A.I.’d’ it, and showed a massive ‘crowd’ of so-called followers, BUT THEY DIDN’T EXIST! She The Republican presidential nominee claimed the crowd at the airport hangar “DIDN’T EXIST” and that “nobody was there” in multiple posts to his Truth Social platform, sharing a post from a right-wing former congressional candidate known for spreading misinformation The crowd did in fact exist and the rally was attended by thousands of people, many of whom posted their own pictures and videos of the event, which was also live streamed by dozens of news channels and attended by a slew of prominent politicians While some AI-generated photos and videos have been circulated in right-wing corners of social media, it appears the photo Trump posted was in fact real, though it’s possible it was digitally edited https://ny1.com/nyc/all-boroughs/politics/2024/08/11/trump-kamala-harris-michigan-rally-ai

I adore you ! 😇 But America loves its guns, so a total ban is unrealistic….just yet 😂 ..although there are countries that took drastic measures when faces with just one devastating mass massacre . They banned guns…and guess what…no Chicago weekend shootout-bangers in their land… They still have their bad guys, mind you, just not the loss of human life to gun violence, as we face daily. ‘Statistics do back that up…but unlike war theaters, where strategy has a built in ratio of acceptable casualties , I find it daunting that we still allow assault weapons…when it’s clear as day that loss of life would be exponentially diminished. Yes, the mental health crisis is real, it’s big and sadly not a social discussion. Shoul be,

Karama …karma 😂 Back in 2016, the felon-who-can’t-vote Donald , was laughing when his opponent was hacked . …today, not so much. ‘ “I love WikiLeaks,” Trump said while campaigning against Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in October 2016, after the organization had posted online tens of thousands of emails hacked from the account of Clinton’s campaign chairman. “This WikiLeaks stuff is unbelievable,” he said two days later, as the site posted daily troves of internal Clinton campaign emails. “It tells you the inner heart; you gotta read it.” Trump campaign claims it was hacked by 'foreign sources' Trump’s campaign on Saturday said in a statement it had been hacked. The Trump campaign statement cited a report published by Microsoft on Friday, which said, "In June 2024, Mint Sandstorm—a group run by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) intelligence unit—sent a spear-phishing email to a high-ranking official of a presidential campaign from a compromised email account of a former senior advisor. The phishing email contained a fake forward with a hyperlink that directs traffic through an actor-controlled domain before redirecting to the listed domain." https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/live-updates/election-kamala-harris-donald-trump-vice-president/?id=112568134

Chutkan in charge: Judge ignites flurry of activity in Trump Jan. 6 case BY REBECCA BEITSCH - 08/08/24 6:00 AM ET Just hours after the case was handed back over on Friday, she scheduled an Aug. 16 conference to chart the course for handling numerous unresolved issues in the case — likely teeing off a discussion over whether to hold what some have deemed a minitrial. And Saturday, she ruled against Trump on a pending bid to toss the case, determining he failed to demonstrate any prosecutorial bias on the part of special counsel Jack Smith in bringing the case. The public will get their first look at Smith’s thinking on the matter by Aug. 9, when Chutkan has ordered both sides to jointly lay out their vision for how they think the case should proceed. It’s possible Smith could ask for an evidentiary hearing — something some Trump critics see as a “minitrial” that would allow the public to learn more about the evidence prosecutors plan to offer The Supreme Court’s ruling last month determined former presidents are immune from prosecution for actions they take in office that are part of their core executive functions, and that they are presumptively immune for all other official acts. In doing so, the justices called out one specific element of the indictment, barring use of Trump’s pressure campaign at the Justice Department as the basis for any charges. But it’s now up to Chutkan to parse out the rest of the indictment and determine where else Trump might be protected from prosecution — and which elements of his plot to stay in power can still land him prison time. That process could take two routes: arguments on paper, or a hearing featuring live witness testimony. https://thehill.com/policy/national-security/4816762-chutkan-judge-trump-jan-6-case/

Alternate reality…some called it creative fiction others simply called bs 😂 The helicopter story was certainly bizarre. This is what Trump said, verbatim: “I know Willie Brown very well. In fact, I went down in a helicopter with him. We thought maybe this is the end. We were in a helicopter, going to a certain location together and there was an emergency landing. This was not a pleasant landing. And Willie was — he was a little concerned. So I know — I know him pretty well. I mean, I haven’t seen him in years. But he told me terrible things about her.” Willie Brown calls Trump helicopter story ‘creative fiction’ https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4820173-willie-brown-trump-helicopter-claim/

Durbin Reads Out Death Tolls of Deadliest Mass Shootings in Last Decade, Calls on Colleagues to Pass Gun Safety Legislation in Wake of Nashville School Shooting In speech on the Senate floor, Durbin calls for banning of high capacity magazines, emphasizes horrors of mass shootings WASHINGTON – U.S. Senate Majority Whip ####### Durbin (D-IL), Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, today took to the Senate floor to discuss the devastating toll of mass shootings and the dangers of failing to implement proper gun safety legislation to regulate the ownership of assault weapons, including AR-15s. Durbin spoke about the heartbreak the families and community of the Nashville school shooting are feeling after a shooter killed three children and three adults earlier this week. “The events this week in Nashville, Tennessee, are still fresh in our minds. The thought that a shooter went on the campus of a Christian school, a school for children, little children, this person who went on that campus blasted her way into the building and then took the lives of three, nine-year-old children and three adults… It is heartbreaking to think that we are reliving this scene over and over again where our children who are sent by their loving parents off to school, lunches in hand, never came home,” Durbin began. “Never came home.” I’m going to read the names of these communities into the record, as they should be,” Durbin continued. “Las Vegas, Nevada, 2017, an AR-15 was used, 60 people were killed… Newton, Connecticut, Sandy Hook Elementary School, 2012. The shooter had an AR-15. The shooter killed 27 people, including those beautiful little children.” “[In Highland Park], Fourth of July, 2022, an AR-15, seven killed, dozens wounded, including an eight-year-old boy who will be paralyzed for life. These are the realities of the AR-15 as it is being used. It was designed to do just this, kill massive numbers of people, of human beings,” Durbin emphasized. https://www.judiciary.senate.gov/press/dem/releases/durbin-reads-out-death-tolls-of-deadliest-mass-shootings-in-last-decade-calls-on-colleagues-to-pass-gun-safety-legislation-in-wake-of-nashville-school-shooting

Ah …I see you are on board with that ..again, really 😂 The Real Reason Donald Trump Is Making Racist Comments About Kamala Harris …this attack line against Harris wasn’t a slip of the tongue or a product of an undisciplined politician. Questioning the identity of Black politicians is what made Trump into a Republican darling, and later the party’s standard-bearer. “There are parallels between this and his attacks on Barack Obama,” said Donald Earl Collins, a critical race, gender and culture studies professor at American University. “It’s about going after voters who have problems with [candidates’] identities.” Trump infamously and baselessly claimed that Obama, who was born in Hawaii to a Kenyan father and white American mother, was not an American and therefore ineligible to be president. He spent years rallying conservatives around the so-called “birtherism” theory, pushing for Obama to publicly release his long-form birth certificate. The fact that Trump was invited to NABJ, a space for Black journalists to connect and network, was controversial. During his interview with three prominent Black women journalists — Rachel Scott of ABC, Kadia Goba of Semafor and Harris Faulker of Fox News — he reportedly refused to be fact-checked, thus holding up the event. Trump relied on his same old talking points, yet called Scott “rude” and “nasty” for daring to ask him about his past comments. He lied about Democrats’ views of abortion and stumbled over questions about the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection. And he used the fact that Harris is biracial to attack her. Being mixed race is a simple concept, and according to 2020 census data, approximately 10% of Americans identified as having more than one race. So why is Trump acting like Harris’ identity is confusing or something she’s lying about? “What Trump is attempting to say is, ‘She doesn’t meet your litmus test for being truly Black,’” Collins said.

Kamala Harris Campaign Mocks Donald Trump On His Own Social Media Platform Kamala Harris campaign mocked Donald Trump on his own social media platform, comparing the number of attendees at the Democrat and Republican rallies on Truth Social Harris' campaign has a verified account on the platform, and used it to post a jibe at Trump. "Harris rally vs. @realDonaldTrump rally. Same arena in Philly," they posted on Tuesday, alongside two photos of Temple University's Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where both presidential candidates have recently held rallies. One photo shows Harris and her newly announced running mate Tim Waltz on stage with the crowd filling the blue-decorated space. The second photo is a lot more blurry and appears to show Trump onstage during his rally with the top tier of seats empty, a visual that raised questions at the time. The post was also shared on X by the Kamala Harris campaign on Wednesday, along with a quote of the post saying, "Yes, we posted this on Truth Social." The post has accumulated more than 1.7 million views and 61,000 likes. https://www.newsweek.com/kamala-harris-campaign-mocks-trump-crowd-size-truth-social-1935697

Can’t see real men of service slinging that kind of shade at poor Vance😂… JD Vance’s Marine buddies back his service over his politics Critics call his about-face on Trump an affront to the military’s most basic values. His friends say attacks on his service are out of bounds. If elected, Vance would become the first to serve at such a senior level from among the generation of men and women who went to war after 9/11. He spent four years in the Marines, from ages 18 to 23, deploying once to Iraq for six months in his capacity as a public affairs specialist, a job that entailed writing news releases, taking photos and interacting with journalists. He did not face combat. Vance’s rhetoric, however, has puzzled some who served with him, as he has shifted from a moderate Republican sharply critical of Trump just a few years ago to a hard line ally who has echoed the former president’s falsehoods about the 2020 election and made demeaning comments about “childless cat ladies” and prominent Democrats. Cullen Tiernan, who served with Vance, said he was not interested in assessing Vance’s statements about past elections, adding “a lot of this election chatter is looking backwards.” Asked if he intends to vote for his friend, Tiernan, who identifies as left-leaning, said he was undecided. “I love JD, I really want to vote for him, but it’ll take me some time to get there. I want to hear what Harris has to say,” he said. “I’m going to take my time and give it a lot of deep thought.” source Washington Post/link not available
