Good Afternoon VJ.. it's been a while since I've been on the website. I want to update you on some things. I'm still waiting for my fiancee to arrive in the States.
She will arrive next month. she wrapped up things with her stores, which took some time to do. but all in all.. everything is well

do you know of any reputable companies that offer this service? Thanks so much for your reply!I will include the court records for sure and also police reports as required.
You can do it yourself. Just find the counties where your arrest was at. Call the county clerk's office and ask them for a certificate of deposition. Simply it would cost you more $10 buck per certificate

At present time (until April 1st) the AOS fee is $1225 and includes I 485, I 130, I 131, i 765
after April 1st the I 485 goes to $1440 without other forms( bio is included)
I 131 will be $630 and I 765 will be $470
there is a long discussion on this issue 2 days ago
Summary of fees is in section D
Thank you

( AOS question ) I'm sure those who do know that, there will be an increase in fees. I spoke with someone today and they indicated that each document will have its own price come April 1st 2024 Has anyone heard of this because I called USCIS today twice, and they said that there will be just increases. my point is that. ( just being transparent) (I only would have to pay for my fiancee and daughter's AOS and Bio for the mom.. not the child bio.. and pay for the child's AOS ) Now USCIS also said that I won't have to pay for any EAD or Advance travel because I'm doing all 3 together

Good Morning.. just following up on this post. Most of the VJ ( veterans know their stuff ) But just based on the small amount of knowledge I know ( and that is small )
The revoke had to do with some kind of documents.. something did not add up with what was present with the documents and most or less what was asked of him.
It could have been a simple question.. and it drew a red flag, or why else it would have to go back to the uscis? if it was a quick fix, it would have stayed at the embassy.

What u do need to understand is Nigeria is well known for having false documents and u can not overcome those if any were submitted.
This is very important and could have been the reason for sure.. ( just a guess based on my fiancee's interview in Ghana.. they made sure she had original documents.. her interview was less then 10 minutes)

AOS is Adjustment of Status, a process all K-1 visa holders will go through once they enter the U.S. and get married - to be filed within 90 days.
Fees will be increasing from 1500 to 3800 in March/April.

Every couple has their own priorities, and each couple must decide which visa is better for their situation.
K-1
More expensive than CR-1
Requires Adjustment of Status after marriage (expensive and requires a lot of paperwork)
Spouse can not leave the US until she/he receives approved Advance Parole (approx 6-8 months)
Spouse can not work until she/he receives EAD (approx 6-8 months)
Some people have had problems with driver licenses, Social Security cards, leases, bank account during this period
Spouse will not receive Green Card for many months after Adjustment of Status is filed.
A K-1 might be a better choice when 18-21 year old children are immigrating also
In some situations, marriage can affect certain Home country benefits, making a K-1 a better choice
A denied K-1 is sent back to USCIS to expire
K-1 entrant cannot file for citizenship until after having Green Card for 3 years.
Once an I-129F has been approved, delaying the case is difficult to impossible if the need arises.
CR-1/IR-1
Less expensive than K-1
No Adjustment of Status(I-485, I-131, I-765) required.
Spouse can immediately travel outside the US
Spouse is authorized to work immediately upon arrival.
Spouse receives Social Security Card and Green Card within 2 or 3 weeks after entering the US
Opening a bank account, getting a driver's license, etc. are very easily accomplished with GC, SS card, and passport.
Spouse has legal permanent Resident status IMMEDIATELY upon entry to US.
The clock for citizenship filing starts immediately upon entry to the US.
A CR-1/IR-1 case can be delayed indefinitely at NVC if the need arises.
Crazy Kat.. Here is Virginia it's not that much of a worry for a (K1) I regularly talk to a person at the bank I'm with. she tells me. ( that an immigrant arriving here would need their visa, passport, and ID ) I'm not sure about other states.

Awesome!
Thank you.. even tho it's a 5-hour layover at least she won't have to think about rushing to catch a flight (the fact is I can drive up and be back here in Richmond in 4 hours )

Another issue with IAD is that international flights usually do not arrive at the terminal. You deplete into a "people mover" which does not leave plane-side until it is full. This can easily add at least 20-30 minutes to the stated arrival time before you can even begin the official papaperwork and baggage process.
Good Morning.. I found her flight.. and she will have a 5-hour layover.. so she will have plenty of time

Coming into Chicago , Adil did not have to pick up his luggage and take it to customs and immigration and recheck it in
the luggage was sent all the way to Nashville from Morocco
when flying back to US from Ecuador and landing in Miami also i didn't have to pick up bags and recheck them
when coming from Peru to us thru Fort Lauderdale, i had to get bags and have them with me to be xrayed and then they were rechecked
seems each airport has its own procedures
My problem is that my fiancee is arriving with her 9-year-old daughter.. typically the flight from Ghana would arrive at JFK.. and there will be a 4-hour layover.
The flight would arrive at 6:am and depart around 10:0am.. my problem is that there are no arriving flights coming on the morning of the date that we choose
all other flights have her in the airport for over 6,7, and like in some cases 10 hours.. and then she would arrive in VA .. like 9:00 pm.
I don't want them in the airport for such a long period like that with a child. I can get then to DC. but there is only a 2-hour layover and that won't be enough time to catch her connecting flight.

I'm trying to book a flight for my fiancee and her daughter, the connecting flight will be out of (IAD). Her flight will arrive at 6:30 am. She will have a 1 hr 55 min layover.
Has anyone experienced long waits to go through customs and TSA? Her flight leaves at 8:30 am.. do you think she will have enough time to catch that flight.. ( Thanks in Advance )

Suggestion to any in the process of getting the K-1 Visa .....
Based on our Brazil case ....
1) Ensure you get a fresh police report just before traveling to the USA .... you may need a newer one for the AOS filing
2) Ensure you get a fresh certified copy of the birth certificate - And triple check it for typos.
That second one is giving us plenty of headaches now as we can't register our wedding with the consulate until the document is corrected for the typo and for Brazil it has to be within the last 6 months or they won't accept it outright.
We can't get passport updated until we get the wedding registered (which requires the corrected Birth Cert)
And that is limiting our ability apply for Global Entry (based on wrong name in passport) as well as updating her accounts like United......
The fun continues once they are here .... but at least they are here (so worth celebrating once it happens for you guys)I'm at the stage in just waiting for my fiancee's visa to be issued.. it's been a long journey

Sometimes it takes many months for medical bills to be mailed. This is normal in the US healthcare system. Don't assume that the bills will not be sent eventually. You could also contact the hospital's billing department to ask again, make sure they have a current mailing address for you or your partner. These bills will have to be paid as part of your immigration journey so be ready for a big payment.
She won't have to pay as much as one might think or nothing at all under her circumstances. All she would have to do is ask the hospital for their debt relief program or any other kind of programs they have and they will help.
She will not be the first or the last who has asked about these kinds of programs.. all she has to do is ask. simple
-
Good Morning...I'm one of those people waiting as well.. and all they needed was her original BC... it's just as simple as that. Question tho.. when the consular officer requests further paperwork. does the same officer review it or will another officer be doing it?

Thanks, but could I get a new SSN issued to me if I can't find my previous SSN (it has been almost 20 years!)? I read somewhere here that SSNs are "for life". What would the SSA do if I say I don't know my previous SSN and request for a new card to be issued - would they issue a new number or look up my previous number?
