Just got done with my interview at San Antonio field office. Interview cleared. After the interview, i was called at a window and got my oath ceremony letter scheduled for June 18th.

Hi everyone, I had my interview today at the Chicago FO. I arrived 20 mins early and it was not very crowded. I waited about an hour to be called up. The IO was professional. No small talk and got straight to the interview but she was nice. I applied under the 5-yr rule and got a green card through my mother who is a US citizen. I took my residential lease and my tax transcripts, driver's license, passport and GC. 
 
She asked to see 5 years worth of my IRS tax transcripts before recommending for approval so I am happy I uploaded to the portal and also took it to the interview. The questions I was asked (got all 6 right so we moved on): 
What are the two major political parties in the United States? Who lived in America before the Europeans arrived? What is the name of the Vice President of the United States now? How many amendments does the Constitution have? When was the Declaration of Independence adopted? I forget the 6th question!  She had me read a sentence off the tablet and then had me write "Mexico is south of the United States" on a tablet. She asked me the yes/no questions and confirmed the name change on my application. She told me she will recommend me for approval, and that now my case is going to final quality review. If everything looks good, they will schedule and oath and I should be notified of the location for the judicial oath within 6 weeks. 
 
Back in 2022 my N-400 got denied because my Green Card printed the wrong residence since date and so I applied too early. She asked me a little bit about this denial and said I should have gotten my money back since it wasn't my fault. I said I cut my losses on that one because the IO during my denial told me I would not get they money back even though it wasn't my fault. Overall, I was in and out of there within 20 minutes or so! As soon as I left I got an update on the portal. 
 
 
Is it normal for it to say: "Your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, was placed in line for oath ceremony scheduling." and then after that say "Case Was Submitted For Quality Review Based On An Approval Recommendation" because I would think it's the other way around?? Can anyone weigh in on this?

I once said "scar-mangled" banner and my husband was like are you okay? 😆
 
 
No issue at all, the officer will ask you if you traveled since submitting your application, and you'll just have to give them the dates and destinations.

Alas, today I finally got my interview schedule for July 16 at 3PM.

My wife tested me on the 100 questions. It was all right until I said "The star-sprinkled banner".
 
Seriously, how many times did you use the word "spangled" in your life?

I didn’t bring my expired EAD and wasn’t asked for it - only GC

And now it is showing "Oath Ceremony will be scheduled"
 
(Appt time was 1.35, I went in right on time - was out by 2pm).
 
I took a folder full of documents including the originals of all the documents I had uploaded and was not asked to show any of them.  I did not have a State ID and that was also okay.  (I did give the officer copies of my travel information for the dates I will be out of state but was not asked for anything other than my passport and green card)

Congrats @Winbig! Did you get a little flag? I put mine in a planter in front of my window.

Oath Ceremony yesterday went well. It was scheduled for 9am but didn’t begin until an hour later. A further one out later, we were all done. It was just 16 of us. Glad to see the back of this journey. Thanks all for your constant updates. It helped keep one sane.

My interview was yesterday and I was approved! There was a long wait because Tampa is a big office but the interview itself lasted less than 10 minutes. Very friendly, no complaints. Unfortunately there was no ceremonies scheduled that day so I'll have to wait.

Hello all!
I had my interview today at 10:30 am in NYC at 26 Federal Plaza. I arrived 45 minutes early, because I was nervous and I don’t trust morning train traffic😏 I went through the security check downstairs, went up to the 9th floor according to my invitation letter, and checked in there but had to go back to 4th floor for the interview. So I was glad that I had arrived before the actual appointment time. There were about 25 other people already in the waiting room, and I went to the window and checked in again (gave them the green paper that I received from the 9th floor). Then I waited in there for about half an hour. I brought my flashcards with civic test questions and was reviewing them while I waited. Then I got called at about 10:35am. My officer was a very serious African-American lady and she would not smile or have any small talk with me. First she had me swear to say the truth and took my fingerprints, then she asked me for my passport, id and a green card. Then she asked me civic test questions, I remember just these: Two National holidays? How many voting members in the House of Representatives? WHo is the governor of your state? Why there are 13 stripes on a flag? What is the one freedom from the First amendment? And then she asked me to read the sentence from the tablet: When is the Thanksgiving day? And to write with my finger on a tablet: Thanksgiving is in November. After that she reviewed my whole immigration history. She was asking how I became a permanent resident. She asked if I work and where, and where and when I worked previously (for the last 3 years) and where I went to school within these 3 years. She asked me where I lived and when and where we lived together with my ex husband. She asked if I am still married, and I said that yes and that I am in the process of divorce and could not do it earlier because of financial hardship, and she said that that is understandable. She asked about my travel abroad and for how many days I was there. At the end she asked me to verify my current address and a phone number, and how I understand the Oath of allegiance. Then there were those “No” questions and some of the “Yes” questions.
I seem to answer every question okay.
 
At the end she made me sign biographic info on the tablet and then the oath of allegiance on a tablet. Then she said that she will recommend my case for approval, and that I will get an Oath ceremony invitation in mail. After that she smiled finally! 😄 
For the documents, I brought 4 huge binders with me, taxes for last 4 years, my previous approved petitions, and more stuff, that was absolutely not needed, because all she asked me was my passport, my id, and my green card. 
 
In about an hour my case status changed to Oath invitation was mailed, and I saw a document online: It is scheduled for June 13th, at 2 pm!
I can’t believe it is over, I am so happy!

About 6 hours after N-400 interview, USCIS account updated with my Notice of Naturalization Oath Ceremony....scheduled for June 17, 2024 in Detroit! Lots of progress in one day!!!

Ok...N-400 Interview scheduled for 10:15 am today. We were allowed to bring phones into building but had to be turned off in waiting area or not brought into interview. Able to enter building 15 minutes before interview. Went through the scanners...remove belt, watch, bracelet, and keys, and put everything in bins. Super easy to get through security. Big comfy waiting area after checking in for appointment. Saw IO about 15-20 min. after scheduled time. She was very nice and kept things easy and laid back. Brought in 2 massive binders (I-751/amendment binder; and N-400 binder) with all the docs filed and up to date tax returns, etc. The IO liked the prep with the binders and said it was nice to see all the preparation. None of the several people I saw admitted for interviews before I was called brought anything more than a few pieces of paper. She was able to pick the civics questions she wanted to ask me. She skipped over the "Name your U.S. Representative" and I told her "But I know that one!" and she laughed. Basic civics questions, such as "Who is the Chief Justice of the United States," "How many years is a president elected for," Who makes federal laws," and then had to write one sentence she read to me and wrote it on a tablet; nothing complicated; passed the first 6 questions so she didn't need to ask anymore. She confirmed the date of my divorce, current physical address and mailing address, and wanted to know the two people that arrived with me (my mom and boyfriend). She asked a few questions about my boyfriend to ensure I wasn't with my divorced spouse which she said would have put my paperwork in jeopardy. All in all, about 15 minute interview with me asking questions as well. IO said I was approved and would be receiving Oath notice in the mail in a few weeks and Oath ceremony will be at court house in Detroit given I'm changing my name. Very pleasant experience!  About 3 hours after interview, my case was updated online: I-751 approved; N-400 Oath Ceremony Will Be Scheduled. One more step to go! A very big thanks to all the folks here who made this journey so much easier by sharing good intel and helping me to understand the process. You guys ROCK!!! 

@Youssuf tough one, I would reschedule. It's probably better to do it now than at the last minute.
 
@jm06 congrats on having a baby and becoming a citizen on the same day! That was one busy Friday...
@mmv_1 do you have the interview letter in your Documents tab online?

I just came back from the USCIS office as a citizen. My appointment was 9:25am so I got there around 9am however I waited until ~11:10am.
The officer asked questions really quickly and I answered very quickly (the common questions from the list of 100) so it took less than 10 minutes. In the end, she told me the last ceremony today will be 11:30am (usually 4:30pm) so she intentionally went through things faster so I could attend the oath ceremony without an extra trip. I really appreciated her kindness and received the naturalization certificate before noon. What a journy!

In our little group, after 3 months we have 27 filers with an interview date out of 41. That's 65%. Even considering some may not have updated us, that means about a 30% of cases don't yet have an interview scheduled after 3 months. So unlucky sure, but nothing rare or unusual.

Hey guys, finally my wife got scheduled for an interview after filing on Feb 2nd, Interview will be on July 3rd.
West Palm Beach, FL field office. Best of luck to us and to everyone waiting. Will keep you guys posted. 

BTW. For who was asking if the civic questions were selected by the agent or showed randomly... My interviewer told me the system had been stuck with the same questions all day long, that it typically changes in every interview, randomly.

Honestly there's no rhyme or reason. I'm sure they're meant to process cases in the order they were submitted, yet it doesn't mean getting an answer in the same order. Maybe some background checks take longer because of a more common name or something else, maybe a case went to an officer who's slower, who knows. I only heard from one other San Francisco filer and she had her interview just a couple weeks before me, even though she had applied in October of last year 🤷🏻‍♀️
I wouldn't freak out as long as you're within estimated processing time. (And even then I wouldn't freak out, but I would definitely start calling and contacting my senator if nothing moves)

to be fair, drive through is one of the most American experience 😂. First time I came across drive through ATMs was in the States 😅😅

Hello! I passed my citizenship interview, office Milwaukee My husband was interviewed first, alone. We were not expecting that! Then they called me, my husband left the room, and did the relationship questions to approve my ROC. Then the civic test, reading and writing test, and N400 questions. I had 2 agents interviewing me, one was more like an observer. It went well even if my hands were sweating hahahaha. Now wait for my ceremony date on the mail.
