    He is incorrect.  USCIS accepts hyphenated names.

    Chapter 5 - Verification of Identifying Information | USCIS

    "For purposes of requesting immigration benefits, a married person may use a legal married name (spouse’s surname), a legal pre-marriage name, or any form of either (for example, hyphenated name, pre-married name or spouse’s surname). Requestors must submit legal documentation, such as that listed below, to show that the name used is the requestor’s legal name:[2]

    • Civil marriage certificate;
    • Divorce decree;
    • Family registry;
    • Country identity document;
    • Foreign birth certificate;
    • Certificate of naming; or
    • Court order.

    Thank you for linking this. When I submit my correction error form 565 I think? I’ll quote this!

  2. I have two last names combined with a hyphen: Maiden-Married.

    The IO for my N-400 said I couldn’t have the hyphenated last name on my naturalization certificate.

    Anyone with a hyphenated last name- what’s on your certificate? Or anyone who knows more about this?

    If my certificate doesn’t have a hyphenated surname, can I still hyphenate for my passport? My DL and SS card are hyphenated.

  3. Hello - I am helping someone, please help!

    If there's no mention of taxes or tax transcript in the NOA letter for interview, does the person have to bring it anyway?

    Does anyone have a good resource for the most current or up-to-date possible list of civics questions that may be asked?

    Also, any insight on the speaking and writing test would be helpful. The person is 65, but does not qualify for the 15 years exception.

  4. Hello,

    For additional evidence for the N400 online application, what types of documents should be uploaded to help support the application? Any examples? Already uploading: current permanent resident card, marriage certificate, birth certificate for all children ... anything else?

    Thank you in advance for any help provided.

  5. Hello,

    If someone is able to apply for naturalization, but they're also sponsoring their adult child's green card application, will their naturalization process affect their child's green card application?

    Apologies ahead of time if this is confusing. Let me give names. Morticia is a current GR holder. Morticia is sponsoring her adult child, Fester, for an adjustment of status for his green card. Fester's AOS/GC is still processing. If Morticia were to begin the naturalization process (she's been a GC holder for over ten years), will this affect her son, Fester's, application?

    Thank you!

  7. Hello - my GC holder parents petitioned for my brother (who currently resides in the US as a visa holder) - his petition approval came in October 2013. According to Visa bulletin they're currently at January 2013 -- once the date is closer to the petition approval date, what will happen? He receives a letter to start the Petition for Alien relative I-130? Thank you for any information.

    Happily Ever After starts on Sunday. Couples are:

    Elizabeth and Andrei (have only seen bits and pieces of their story)

    Angela and Michael (started watching their "Journey" on Discovery +)

    Mike and Natalie (lol -- "happily ever after" indeed!)

    Kalani and Asuelu (watched some of their early episodes)

    Tiffany and Ronald (no idea)

    Yara and Jovi (they have an opportunity to redeem themselves after their victim-blaming of Amira)

    Julia and Brandon (Julia is currently dead to me, but could also redeem herself)

    Elizabeth and Andrei - They're alright. Andre is funny in the sense that he knows he's a shmuck and hams it for the camera. He understands what it takes to be on reality TV. Elizabeth gets it, too, but just ugh, I cannot with her sometimes.

    Angela and Michael - Why? Does Angela force Matt Sharp to cast her??

    Kalani and Asuelu- I am done with their story line

    Tiffany and Ronald- I'm already bored

    Yara and Jovi- I want to see the baby journey!!!

    Julia and Brandon- Also, no.
