  1. Sorry. I wasn't accusing you of anything. I was merely asking if my calculations were incorrect. Thanks for the advice. I will certainly include the i-751 copies (and the explanation you suggested) in the N-400 petition for my wife when the time comes.
  2. My wife applied for i-751 in December of 2024. Unfortunately, they were unable to remove conditions together because stepdaughter was a follow to join and she came approximately 1 year after her mother. See comments above. Wife and daughter did not remove conditions together. My wife's green card expired January of 2025. We have filed for i-751 for her in December 2024. According to my calculations, my wife can apply for naturalization in October of 2025 because it will 90 days prior to her 3 years being an LPR living with me for more than 3 years. How are my calculations incorrect?
  3. Hello, I have been reviewing some websites and I have a few questions: 1. It seems that once my LPR wife becomes a naturalized citizen, her LPR stepdaughter who lives with us and is under 18, will automatically become a U.S. Citizen as well. Can you please confirm that to be true? 2. My LPR stepdaughter's conditional green card expires May of next year. If her mother's naturalization doesn't happen by February, we will need to file for the ROC for her at that time. Is that also true? 3. When my wife becomes a naturalized citizen, what will happen to my daughter's ROC filing if there is overlap between the two processes? Does it just become disappear or do I have to alert USCIS? Thanks for your help. Scott
  4. Hi. If your wife has a written offer of employment, she can attempt to expedite the EAD (work permit). This was possible a couple of years ago with some success and some failure. I'm not sure if this possible any longer but it is worth looking into.
  5. My wife submitted her I-751 packet on 12/06/2024. We think she will become a citizen before the removal of conditions is processed. 🙂 Good luck everyone.
  6. I would have your son ask the questions on this site. He will be the one responsible for all immigration decisions made.
  7. Money Orders are also another payment method. I've used them in the past with good results.
  8. There is a link below the 31 months that states "When can I ask about my case?" When you enter your receipt date and click the Get Inquiry Date button, it will tell you when you are allowed to inquire about your case. Until that date is past, you are still within processing times. Sorry, the waiting really sucks. My wife is about to submit her i751 too. She's not looking forward to the wait.
  9. There is a question (Part 1, Question 11) on the i-485 asking if you have an online account number with USCIS. Did you fill that in with your account number? If not, that could be why you are being asked to create a new account. If yes, I think any pertinent documents would be uploaded to that pre-established account.
  10. We ran into similar road blocks in Indiana. Since the lack of current name on the SS card didn't cause us any hardships, we simply waited until she received her green card (never received an EAD card or AP document). We too, got her a SS card right after her arrival but before our marriage. I am a federal employee. We were able to 1. Enroll her in our FEHB health coverage without an SSN 2. Open a joint bank account at 5th 3rd without an SSN 3. Add her as my beneficiary for life insurance / TSP without an SSN 4. Obtain her a new PHP passport with her married name We were NOT able to 1. Get a state id / license without a green card or EAD because of the mismatched name on the SS card 2. Get her name changed at the SSA without a green card or EAD Once she received her green card 1. We were able to get her name changed on her SS card. 2. We were able to get her driver's permit, then license after in her married name I hope this helps.
  11. My wife's 2 children (k2, follow to join, with 1 rfe each) received their green cards on June 10, 2024. Almost exactly one year from application date.
  12. I agree with Crazy Cat. You are worrying about this too much. I remember looking over my original K1 petition and seeing a couple of errors related to birth places that I made in the petition. They were overlooked and never even mentioned to me as the petitioner or my fiance (now wife) during the interview.
  13. There is a guide here to help you
  14. Hello everyone, My wife's 2 children who came on a K2 visa were approved on May 24, 2024. We are waiting for the green cards now. Our receipt date was June 6, 2023. We had one RFE for immunization updates and an i864 problem.
  15. If you do take it seriously, then please stop minimizing your actions by saying that the crimes were not a big deal and were not serious. I think you have received excellent advice today and also a year ago. Apply and if it gets approved, seek an immigration attorney who specializes in arrests.
  16. You don't seem to take this very seriously. Your arrests are a very serious matter to immigration officers and they will take them into consideration regardless of how much you try to minimize your actions.
  17. Hi I'm sorry about your situation. Here is what I would do. Talk calmly to your family and see why they are against the relationship. Consider their thoughts and feelings. If they are being unrealistic and controlling, then I would make plans to move out. You could would work multiple jobs. This would allow you to be away from home more often and away from their controlling tendencies. Save, Save, Save money until you can afford to find a place (room or apt) to live on your own. Maybe you have to move away from your family to avoid the higher cost of living. Once you have living arrangement, you will be totally free from your family's controlling ways. Keep working hard until you have your basic necessities met. Then, you can save for some form of transportation (car/motorcycle/bike). I agree with @Daphne .comments. I would think of this as adventure with a great reward at the end. You get to be with your fiance/wife and you'll be so busy working, you won't notice the long wait. A lot of information is left out in your post. How old are you? What country you're from? Do you have public transportation? Feel free to share if you feel comfortable.
  18. Hello, My wife(fiance) emailed me her photo. After that, I called her in Hong Kong over Zoom . Then, I shared my screen with her and we filled out the form together online. She clicked Submit when I gave her control of the mouse. I hope that helps.
  19. There is also a handy guide here on this site for the k1 procedure. You may get better, more specific advice if you have specific questions.
  20. Hello everyone, I never received a response from my earlier question. Any one want to give it a shot? I will be submitting my RFE response soon and I want to make sure I get it right.
  21. Hello, I am the sponsor for my K2 follow to join step children (ages 10 and 16). We received the following RFE language (see below) for my AOS K2 follow to join packet(s): Based on the language of the RFE, I think the problem is that I didn't list my wife as the principal immigrant because she is already here in the USA. I listed my stepchildren as the principal immigrant because my wife is already here. So, to correct this, my plan is to resubmit the latest version of the I-864 form and do the following: 1. List my wife (K-1 recipient) as the principal immigrant 2. Check No on Question 1 of Part 3 (I am sponsoring the principal immigrant named in Part 2)(No - Applicable only if you are sponsoring family members in Part 3 as the second joint sponsor or if you are sponsoring family members who are immigrating more than six months after the principal immigrant) 3. List her children (my stepchildren) as the two family members in Part 3 Family Member section 4. Check the box on Question 3 of Part 3 (I am sponsoring the following family members who are immigrating more than six months after the principal immigrant) 5. Enter 2 in the box on Question 29 on Part 3 (Enter the total number of immigrants you are sponsoring on this affidavit which includes the principal immigrant listed in Part 2, any immigrants listed in Part 3, Item 1-28, and (if applicable), any immigrants listed for these questions in Part 11. Additional information. Do not count the principal immigrant if you are only sponsoring family members entering more than 6 months after principal immigrant.) 6. I verified that household size is correct at 4. a. Provide the number you entered in Part 3, Number 29 (2) b. Yourself (1) c. If you are currently married, enter "1" for your spouse (1) d. The rest are 0 I can't think of any thing else. I would love to get feedback from the forum on whether I interpreted the RFE correctly. Thanks in advance
  22. Hi, DS-160 - This was the first thing that we did when doing the K2-Follow to Join process. So, it would be okay to start this process now. Visa Payment - Once you complete the DS-160, you can do the payment process. There are several payment options to choose from. Choose your most convenient option. Keep your receipts Interview Scheduling - Once you pay, you should start attempting to schedule the interview. It's probably not a bad idea to start this process now since interview slots may be limited. Check early (Philippines time) and often Medical appointment - see details here (https://slec.ph/registration/us/visa-applicant.php). You will need to time it correctly and your timing in your post is good. You will need interview appointment printout, your DS-160 confirmation page, Special Power of Attorney document allowing someone (guardian) to travel with the child and grant permission for the medical exam, the guardian's ID (passport), a copy of your passport, vaccination record, etc. See the link above for more details because my document list is not complete. Other info - A nice hotel is helpful because your appointments will probably be early. The City Garden Suites Hotel was the one we chose. It is very close to the medical and relatively close to the Embassy. Interview - You will need similar documents for the interview plus a whole lot more. I hope this is helpful. If you need to reach out with more specific questions, feel free to respond to the post or contact me directly. Scott
  23. Spouses are not dependents. Please see this link from the IRS https://www.irs.gov/individuals/international-taxpayers/nonresident-spouse
  24. If you have the tax transcripts, those should suffice instead the actual 1040 which would also require all w2's and 1099s.
