  1. Thank you everyone for the input at least maybe this can help having an updated VJ result for congressman inquiries. Some were old so I do appreciate everyone’s responses. Sorry @PWB you do not feel appreciation especially during May, National Military Appreciation Month. My father was also  a Vietnam Veteran but has received helped before his passing, benefits and certainly one of this favorite things were free movie tickets and lasik (so nice that was!) :) Sometimes its the little things that help us feel supported/comforted but do know that I do appreciate you.

I have read a Congressman do help though but in bigger cases, complicated DACA here in Southern California. In the case of K1, the majority says “No”. My lawyer also said same.
    Thanks all !

Hopefully something nice and easy that you can find and return. Definitely go with express/priority mail to cut down the wait by a few days. I wish you luck! You got this💪

Luckily the NVC process is only online on the petitioner’s end right?

Hi! NVC recieves an approved case and creates a file, performs background check on foregin fiance, does review and sends to embassy. Called today to confirm my case number and there is no action for me as a Petitioner at this time but to wait for letter when the case is sent to foreign fiances embassy.

I meant there were no immigration benefits for having served 20 years.  Take a look at my signature.  It was a great honor for me to have had the opportunity to serve.  I am extremely proud of my military career....and I reap intangible benefits from that service every single day.

Wonderful! :) Yay!  Thanks for your advice.

Being a vet is of no advantage.  My 20+ years gained me no benefits.  K-1s are already expedited through NVC when consulates can process them.  Congresspeople have no influence to speed up the process.  Being separated is the norm for immigration.  I don't mean to sound insensitive, but immigration is not fast, cheap, or easy.  This pandemic has made  the process even more difficult than it already was. Patience is the key.  There are thousands and thousands of people waiting in line. Good luck.  I hope your fiance joins you as soon as possible.

Thank you. I didn't expect me being a Veteran that it would expedite things, we are just in close communication constantly as I work on other areas and we just happen to be close professional contacts. I have a lot of benefits personally being a Veteran, which has been very good for me thus far from free medical care, constant education benefits, housing, etc - its allowed me to achieve so many of my goals and I'am forever grateful. I'm sorry you have had no benefits after 20 years ! I work in Veteran Advocacy groups and volunteer.. do you mean as far as immigration policy?

Thanks again. I didn't want to add them to the mix incase it would delay it. Some posts says its worked for them but they were varied scenarios. The NVC representative also said there is minimal processing with K1's and its only a matter of time and the response felt positive.

  5. Hola. So I've searched VJ and the results are a mixed bag and not so recent (if I missed it tag me, or I'll delete this etc). Some posts say yes, some posts say no or are not from embassies that are actually open.

Our case is at NVC, a representative has advised its been in the building but not yet action or done anything as of April 28th.

My Congressman and I talk, I'm a U.S Veteran and I'm involved in a variety of discussions and advocacies and we were in conversation and I have mentioned how difficult it has been since my father who I was very close to passed away a couple months ago and I live alone, would love my partner to join me and we haven't seen each other close to 500 days. Congressman has offered his help but not sure if this would delay the current process. I'm hoping that within a couple weeks NVC will update our case as recieved or we get that e-mail we all hope to get or if Congressman can actually help at this point or perhaps at the appointment level at open Sydney Embassy.

Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated before I send my Authorization Form.

  6. Hi! https://www.uscis.gov/i-134
I found this useful. For the affidavit support form, theres some information here on how to prove you can sponsor your fiancé.

It does say an income tax return is supplementary docs to the I 134 Affidavit.

Personally, what I’m providing is 3 years of my transcripts, pay stubs of a couple of months and a letter from my employer stating how long I’ve been working, my salary and include the official letterhead. I’m also adding additional income sources I receive from the Veteran Affairs. It seems like, looking in the form we have to justify ourselves. The more the better.

The Dept of State also says this “may be required” as in the I 134 as if it were optional.. that also trips me up in its ambiguity.

  7. I know you’re American, as am I. But when I’ve gone to Cabo, (and a few Californians do this..) enjoy Baja Cabo San Lucas and they have neighborhoods made for whatever lifestyle you choose. Luxury or farm. If you’re flexible for work, work and life there is like resort living and I’ve always kept it at the back of my mind for retirement 😂 For now, I just vacation often being 3 hr flight away and investment opportunities are also interesting to scope. I’m sorry to hear about the time you’re going through.

I found a site that has something I am not sure if it applies.  This is what it says:

The part about the Police certificates, I can't find it anywhere else.  Is this something that is required?

This is the website - https://www.immigrationhelp.org/learning-center/supporting-document-checklists-for-a-k-1-fiance-visa#toc-checklist-1-before-you-file

Thank you, but do you have to get a copy of police reports even if both of you have no records?  I am so confused on this.

Yes it is required. The Police Report will indicate that information.

  9. I can't say it is easy but we love each other very much. I work with a therapist who specializes in family and marriage and that has helped a lot. I haven't seen my Partner in over 400 days due to Australia being closed so we can't even meet up anywhere. Our K-1 took 7 months so we are relieved it'll be towards the end soon but it gets pretty dark some days. I take social media breaks, keep myself busy in both professional and educational avenues. I've focused on not only the relationship itself but I've also picked up different hobbies and self development sort of things (learning a new language, eating healther, losing weight, learning how to be a healthy spouse and a mature one at that etc). My hobbies have helped and having a full-time job does also. I can't envision my life without him. I can't say that "time flies" but time does keep going. It is what we do in that time that we hope to reflect on later and say "I'm glad i had a chance to achieve this before married life :) "

I'm going to Belize for my last luxury solo vacation for my birthday. So yeah...traveling to open areas and staying vibrant helps my attitude...that and shopping..

  10. I asked that same question on the phone with an agent and she said “Some cases get caught up and need more attention, which could be why other dates are being approved outside of yours”. She didn’t go into too much detail, but it makes sense with other members here advising the complexities of cases and variables.

I thought we would be  amongst the faster end of the timeline due to the country, that didn’t help us as much as we thought...

Congratulations!  It's so wonderful that your patience has at last been rewarded.  May the rest of your journey be swift and successful. 😊

Thank you my Australian friend! You as well!

I highly recommend calling... mine still says expedite denied but it’s really approved. She says it could take up to 4 days for any online update..
