The way I see it is that at the very minimum it is good that Sydney is still processing K-1 even though there is a lockdown. Meaning that they are putting people on waitlists to get their interviews once they are open and ready to resume. Its better than the alternative which is other countries whose consulates are just flat out not processing at all. Our time will come, hopefully it will all get sorted by August.

We havent heard of a waitlist. We were told they will contact us when the restrictions lift.

Update: Sydney emailed me this morning to let me know they had received our petition, but due to the lock down they are delayed in processing. They said I should get a follow up me with as soon as they get through the back log. So that is promising.

Do I have to do the DS-160 before they will schedule my interview?

EDIT: My status of CEAC is still in transit so, I guess they do not update.

Yes, you have to do the DS160 before scheduling. You’ll need to bring the DS160 confirmation page to the interview.

Due to Sydney consulate being closed is the NVC still sending the petitions to Sydney as normal?

also why wouldn’t it go to ready status 😕 just trying to prep myself for when it’s our turn :)

I'm not sure. They emailed us and to confirm our appointment and advised it wont be reflective on our status. The NVC agent told me if the embassy is accepting K1 visas, the application will be sent.

Thank you! We initially received an email  saying there are no available appointments and that they put him on a wait list. Thankfully 2 weeks later we got a date for 29th.

Now wondering what questions they will ask in the interview.

Nice,. You should totally update your timeline and help other Australians with data. June or July? How are you guys doing with the states closing to Sydney right now?

Anyone know how to find out what the wait time of interviews is in Sydney Australia?

    Appreciate and advice. Thank you

Little over 2 months. I was good to go in May but we didn't get an appointment until July. A member in the Australia subforum recommended advising the embassy if youre open to cancellations and can traveil within x amount of time.

Hello lovely! I am currently trying to apply for my exemption to leave the Aus (Have been approved for my VISA and have it in hand) I have already been declined once and I am trying to add in as much information as possible for my second attempt. I did not see the option for immigrate anywhere, could you be more specific as to where that was located if possible please! Thank you in advance! :)

I found it under Australians and Permanent Residents. In the bullets you can see “For immigrate or moving abroad”.

I believe a Stat Dec is required as many websites mentioned that I’ve googled. I haven’t gotten to that part yet in my K1.

I'm in a same-sex relationship with very conservative Senators and Representatives, and they helped our case (NOA1 in June 2020 and NOA2 in April 2021). It may be worth giving it a try, honestly. Their offices were very kind throughout the process.

I asked this in one of my posts Congressman and it was such a mixed bag of "yes they can help" and "don't waste your time".

Good to know your local Representatives were able to help you!
