  1. Dunno about the exemption, but you might contact a Federal judge to learn what the legal implications are. It would be interesting to hear them.
  2. Thus trashing the juries' decisions, the judges' sentences, and the families' closure.
  3. Thread is moved to the Removing Conditions forum.
  4. ABC To Put Running Ticker On All News Shows Saying 'FOR LEGAL PURPOSES DO NOT BELIEVE ANYTHING WE SAY' U.S. — In response to mounting lawsuits over journalistic malpractice, ABC has decided to add a ticker telling viewers that for legal purposes, no one should ever believe anything said on their news programs. The ticker will run on all ABC News broadcasts, any show where any network journalists open their mouths, and will always be running on the ABC News website. "Nothing we say should ever be taken as having the slightest hint of truth to it whatsoever," said ABC News executive Darryl Ross at a press conference announcing the change. 5. This has not been put forth nearly enough. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Trump's lawyers are the unsung heroes of his electoral victory I once had the honor to work as a principal at one of the most prestigious law firms in the world. Years before that, I worked on three presidential campaigns. As the 2024 presidential campaign played out between first former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden and then Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, I thought often about those two experiences, because of the unethical and un-American "lawfare" strategies rolled out continuously against Trump. Not only were these seemingly coordinated strategies unprecedented in presidential politics, but they were truly chilling. Almost everyone in the Democratic Party and on the left — be they politicians, the media, academia and certain judicial officials — seemed to be in on this grift to usurp the will of the American people via laughable legal challenges, charges and strategies that would have been universally condemned were they leveled at anyone other than Trump. As these multiple "lawfare" tactics played, my overriding thought was that Trump better have a first-rate legal team behind him. As it turns out, they were better than first rate. In many critically important ways, they saved the campaign — and the candidate. [...] https://thehill.com/opinion/judiciary/5051045-trumps-lawyers-are-the-unsung-heroes-of-his-electoral-victory/
  6. This is one of the best-written, most circumspect articles that I've seen on this topic. It blows the leftists' arguments out of the water. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Disregarding Military Necessity To Accuse Israel of War Crimes [...] While perhaps well versed in human-rights law, many – including the most vocal and influential – who are quick to condemn Israel's use of force as criminal tend to care much less about military necessity and know little about military history and strategy. In the extreme, they treat humanitarian responsibility as the sole consideration in determining the lawfulness of military action. Routinely, they issue judgments concerning Israel's armed conflicts that demonstrate unfamiliarity with basic matters – threats, battlefield configurations, combatants' rules of engagement, tactics, weapons, and logistics – on which turn a reasonable determination of military necessity. 7. Her employer absolutely blasted her! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Waiter fired after comments about refusing service to some Trump officials A Washington, D.C.-area restaurant server has been fired after she spoke out about possibly refusing service to incoming Trump administration officials. "I personally would refuse to serve any person in office who I know of as being a sex trafficker or trying to deport millions of people," Suzannah Van Rooy, a server at Beuchert's Saloon on Capitol Hill, told the Washingtonian this week. "It's not, 'Oh, we hate Republicans.' It's that this person has moral convictions that are strongly opposed to mine, and I don't feel comfortable serving them." Her remarks were part of a report about whether there would be local "resistance" to certain Trump figures when they were in public settings again after several high-profile incidents during his first term. 8. I predict that Bidementia will be committed to a memory-care facility within a year. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Biden cover-up is fast unraveling President Joe Biden's catch-and-release policies for illegal immigration that caused a historic invasion of the United States was the first scandal of his presidency, but it was his catastrophic withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan that destroyed his public standing and pushed him permanently into disapproval. These pages noted at the time that Biden's mental capacity was slipping and that his diminished ability to remember key facts may have cost the lives of many Afghan civilians and 13 American service members. At a White House press conference days before those 13 soldiers were killed, Biden falsely claimed that al-Qaida had been driven out of Afghanistan entirely, and the White House was forced to retract this nonsense just hours later. Biden also falsely claimed that there was "no indication" that Americans stuck in Kabul "haven't been able to get" to the airport, a vacuous statement rebutted by news outlets within minutes. The president was clearly losing his grip on reality. We are now learning that it was not just outside observers such as the Washington Examiner that were worried about Biden drifting off into la la land. The Wall Street Journal has revealed that as early as spring 2021, the start of his presidency, national security officials admitted to each other that Biden "has good days and bad days," often causing key national security meetings to be canceled. 18. Unconscionable! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ New Shocking Info About Biden's Incapacity and Insult to Families of Troops Killed in Afghan Withdrawal We reported earlier in the week about the Wall Street Journal report that had concerning new stories about how long they've been covering up Joe Biden's cognitive decline and how severe it had gotten even three years ago during the withdrawal from Afghanistan, when the chair of the House Armed Services Committee at the time wasn't even able to get through to him about potential problems that could occur with the withdrawal. The WSJ reported several instances where Biden struggled with day-to-day things including that he was so impaired he couldn't even repeat back lines they were giving him to prepare him for his interview with Special Counsel Robert Hur over the classified document scandal. It's an incredible scandal that reveals how much control unelected individuals shielding Biden had over decision-making. And it gets worse. 19. This is an amazing analysis by one who would know. Comments on it? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Why the Media Spin on the German Christmas Market Attack Can't Be Trusted What the establishment media wants us to believe about any given event is usually more indicative of the media's own worldview than it is of the actual facts on the ground, and the vehicular attack on a Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany on Friday is no exception. In fact, the media spin is even more pernicious than usual on this one. The claim that's going around is that the attacker, a Saudi doctor named Taleb al-Abdulmohsen who has lived in Germany for years, is an ex-Muslim who hated Islam and was enraged at German authorities for letting so many Muslims into the country. The Washington Post reported that Abdulmohsen "had expressed anti-Islam views and described himself as a Saudi dissident." The Wall Street Journal said that he was "a well-known anti-Islam activist who seems to have felt increasingly persecuted by Germany." The New York Post likewise called him an "anti-Islam activist." Others, however, presented numerous facts that don't fit the media spin. Maral Salmassi, who calls herself a "politically incorrect, Iranian/German entrepreneur and producer," wrote: [...] https://pjmedia.com/robert-spencer/2024/12/21/why-the-media-spin-on-the-german-christmas-market-attack-cant-be-trusted-n4935333
  20. Excellent piece that lends hope. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We may finally be recovering from the woke brain rot Across the non-left media world, it's now an article of faith that Trump's emphatic victory is a woke watershed. After asking petulantly for year upon year, 'Now have we hit peak woke?', like children in the backseat nagging daddy are we there yet, we learn repeatedly from the Spectator, the Daily Telegraph, and the Wall Street Journal that the progressive lunacy that's tormented us since about 2014 (if not since 1965) has been roundly defeated. A decisive death knell for identity politics dangles the blessed possibility of no longer squandering our brief duration on this Earth on stupid conversations. One of the grimmest victories of today's poor excuse for 'progress' has been to lure otherwise intelligent people into having debates over whether [...] https://www.spiked-online.com/2024/12/20/we-may-finally-be-recovering-from-the-woke-brain-rot/
  21. This is why I lean against upper-age limits for governmental service. Bidementia was senile when elected; Trump and Bernie Sanders are sharp as tacks; Kay Granger had to be institutionalized; there's early-onset dementia along with anything else that can happen at younger ages. Not sure that one answer fits all.
