Did anyone from June AOS date, get SSN card after getting Combo EAD card? Normally how long does it take get SSN after EAD card approval?

    Hi,

I received my SSN about 10 days after receiving combo card.

I selected "Yes" in the I-765 application to receiving a new SSN.

I had read here, in VJ, that the inter-agency processes (USCIS>SSA) don't always work.  So, just because we check that box in the I-765 doesn't mean a guaranteed SSN.

So, after reading that, after I received the combo card I rang SSA (see their contact us page for ph #) - just to check that they have received my details for a new SSN.

You might want to try the same to make sure your SSN is on its way.

So your status never got update to say if either your or congressman requests were approved or denied right?
Who is L1 officer? Same as T1?

Also, can you please let me know what evidence you provided to expedite AP. Thanks!

No, I don't know which avenue was the effective one.  I assume it was my fax, because it was only 2 business days between when the Congressman sent his request and the date of the decision.

(I doubt USCIS would act that fast for anyone.)

    Sorry I meant tier 1.

I didn't provide any further evidence (nor did USCIS ask for evidence for the AP)

In my cover letter I mentioned both EAD and AP. So, even though the email from USCIS requested evidence for EAD, in my letter I said I was requesting expediting of both.

  3. Hi All,

    Just wanted provide an update...

Nov 17    Biometrics taken and applied to I-485 & I-765
Nov 19    Applied for EAD expedite
    Nov 20    Expedite evidence requested
Nov 23    Applied for AP expedite (not sure if this was necessary - but didn't want to leave it to chance)
Nov 24    Expedite evidence faxed (cover letter mentioning both EAD & AP, employment offer)
Nov 30    Congressman sent expedite request on my behalf (with same letter and emp offer)
    Dec 03    EAD approved
Dec 11    Combo card received (via Priority Mail with tracking - Note: The letter did not appear on my Informed Delivery daily digest)

    Wishing every one speedy processing!

    Hello,

I just wanted to share my timeline in case it helps someone.

Sent the AOS application packet - 6/15/2020

    NOAs received - 6/26/2020

    Biometrics appointment - 8/28/2020

    Expedite request for EAD/AP - 9/14/2020

Email asking for proof of severe financial loss - 9/18/2020

Faxed my job offer letter + a proclamation signed by the President (related to my research) - 9/24/2020

    Expedite request approved - 9/25/2020

    EAD card mailed - 10/1/2020

    EAD card received - 10/3/2020

Case is ready to be scheduled an interview - 10/19/2020

    Interview is scheduled on 11/24/2020

New card is being produced - 11/24/2020

As for the EAD expedite request, I just put in a request over Emma based on severe financial loss. Most people with a pending job offer are approved for expedition of their EAD based on my experience. I hope this was helpful for some of you guys.

Did you get your SSN when you got the EAD?

I've read some ppl having delays getting the SSN.

  5. Hi All,

Just wanted to share my recent experiences... I received an email that my biometrics appointment letter was on its way.  The letter never came.  Since the letter doesn't have any tracking USPS weren't able to help find it.  When I called USCIS to request a new letter, the tier1 agent told it's unlikely that it will arrive in time for my appointment.  Also, since I had a pending service request (regarding something else), she could NOT request the letter to be resent anyway.  (I/She would have to wait till the 30 days had elapsed before raising the "mail not received" request!)

So with all avenues looking useless, I decided to go to the local USCIS Field Office in NYC Federal Plaza.  I explained my situation and the manager at the FO was kind enough to print out for me on the spot.

So, if anyone else has letters lost in the mail, maybe you can try going to your local FO as well.  (Sorry if you already knew all this - I didn't).

Also, in the Biometrics email (mentioned above), it said to go to my online account and there should be a "Documents" tab where I can get the letter and print it out for myself.  This tab doesn't exist for me.  (I've refreshed my cache, tried different browsers, etc.)

Today, I received an email response from USCIS re. this issue.  It stated that if the application has not been filed electronically, then the letter will not appear on the online portal.  The "Documents" tab only appears for those who filed electronically.  (mystery solved I guess... 😐)

I dont know if I can trust the information in the email or not - especially since each agent has given me different info.  So this could also be misinformation!

Hope the above helps someone out there.

Take care folks.  Wishing everyone the best and a fast process to EAD, SSN, AP, GC....

I just finished live chat with an agent. I can't believe that there are no updates either on the expedite request or the combo card itself. She even asked if I sent them a copy of the job offer for the expedite. I faxed a copy on 11/2 and mailed another copy with tracking which was received on 11/4. At least she scheduled a Tier 2 officer to call me in the next 7 days and issued a service number. Just as a reminder; I filed on 6/5 and biometrics was completed on 8/6. The stressful part is I need to accept the job offer by 12/11. I really need an update on approval so I can sign the offer and send back!

    Hi,

I just submitted a request to expedite as I have a job offer as well.  The live agent was asking if I had any other evidence (for "personal financial loss" category).  I only have my job offer letter.  The financial loss is that I haven't worked for 12 months!  (but there's no "evidence" as such)  And there is potential loss if I need to use health services in this country.  (but again, this is only a potential loss, and hence no evidence)

Do you know if the offer letter is enough?

The frustration continues... lost my job offer as well... now all I need is for Trump to win another 4 years and I'll be done for!  😂😭

The bio appointment has been scheduled!!  Yay!

This afternoon, I finally got call back from Tier 2, who told me that the bio appointment was scheduled today and to wait for the formal letter.

Of course, I couldn't wait!!  So I logged into myUSCIS but sadly couldn't find the letter there.

Does anyone know if it's still possible to go to ASC before the actual appointment date?

Secondly, is it possible to go without the letter in hand?  (I know have an email saying that I'll be receiving a letter in the mail).

I forgot to say good luck on your biometrics but please make sure you call.  They made me kiss my first biometrics appointment as they never updated the system and when I called they kept telling me about 90 days wait and all that and when I was finally able to speak with a tier 2 agent they told me my biometrics was from the 25th of August.  So I would suggest you keep calling and ask for a tier 2 rep

I have tried calling the last couple of days and looks like they've changed the IVR... So now I'm not able to get past the automated IVR to speak to a real person!

So did biometrics on 10/14 on 10/16 the both i765 snd i485 updated to all fingerprints received.  Then on 10/21 i485 updated to ready to.schedule interview.  But my i130 still saying processing.  A bit confused but happy to see progress being made after being stagnant for so long.

    Congrats!

    Curiously ... Are you doing concurrent (I-130 & I-485)?  Or did you mean I-131 (not "i130") ?

Any June filers from NYC who already went for their biometrics appointment? Just curious to know if NYC is moving at all.

I'm also June filer in NYC.  No biometrics here either.  :(   I believe NYC is moving - although incredibly slowly.

Like most of the ppl here, I raised a service request... now I will wait another 30 days!  lol

Happy/Sad thing is, I just got a job offer!  But, I cant expedite the EAD without the biometrics... so high chance of losing the job.

    Incredibly frustrating process.

Oh well... nothing to do but keep waiting, call USCIS everyday,  wait some more, call again, wait some more....  😵

Yes I called and requested a status update and then requested to speak with and officer.  When I spoke with that officer I requested to speak with a tier 2 officer.  they transferred me and then there I set it up to get a call back and when I got the call back that’s when I was informed I missed my appointment

Ok cool so it moved pretty quickly after that I’m glad to hear that thanks

I've called USCIS countless times and keep getting told the "90 day" story.

I've also asked to speak to a "tier 2 officer" - btw: I'm not sure if I'm using the right terminology or not - but the person on the other end of the line is always saying they can handle my query.  (and the way the handle it is by giving me the 90 days story!  LOL)

How did you get past this "gatekeeper"?  Is there something specific that I should ask or say?

    Thanks in advance!

Hi. I'm filing from NYC as well. Have you tried calling USCIS to check on your case? I filed mine in July but was was RFIE'd.

Yeah, in August I was calling them every week and kept getting same response "wait 90 days from ASC opening date".  Didn't give me any other info beyond what I can already see on the portal (which is "case received" for the last 3+ months).

Thank you for your kind words. And I checked my original post about the expedite experience I don't know why I typed "wedding" when I meant "funeral" (and VJ doesn't let me edit anymore), I guess it's because on marriage based AOS threads we talk about our SO and weddings all the time lol. So anyways if anyone read that and was wondering, here's the clarification.

Honestly I'm not sure which part of my effort worked, calling relentlessly for weeks, or contacting the congressman. I'm also fully aware that just because I got my biometrics appointment doesn't mean there's guarantee the USCIS will expedite my case. At this point I'm just glad it's moving forward.

Glad to hear that your persistence has paid off!

Moving forward, no matter how small, is definitely better than no movement at all.  :)

After requesting expedite, going for infopass appointment, AND contacting the local congressional office, I finally got my biometrics appointment. Hang in there, fellow June filers!

    Hi,

Were you able to expedite the biometrics by contacting the local congressional office?!  If you don't mind me asking, what reasons did you, or can you, give that result in expediting this?

    And what's an infopass appointment?

I'm waiting for my bio appt and USCIS just telling me to wait 90 days from ASC opening before I call again.  🤭

    Hey Ltsm,

Could you please share the link to that Reddit page?
