  8. i never brought my GC ever. i know as an LPR u have to carry it all the time. but if i lost it? 2 years USCIS purgatory, no thanks. it stayed at home locked.
  9. not anymore. u should be able to obtain ADIT Stamp
  10. welcome to 'murica. is indeed super expensive. some people rather went back to home country to do various check up etc, but of course when emergency happens, we have to be prepare

  15. sorry it happened to you. i understand it can be frustating. but dealing with USCIS, consulate, embassy during immigration journey sometimes arent easy. i learned to just give what they want because we need the visa
  16. 1. That’s when u got ur GC, the rule of thumb for I-131 is for “emergency” travel. 2. Not renewed automatically. The moment u got approved u want to go back to US immediately there’s no such thing as I-131 automatically approved As LPR u need to be in US at least 183 days/year. If u wanna be citizen, u have to adere that rule. If u don’t want to be citizen, then u can stay longer outside US but no more than 1 year
  17. technically ur parents have to apply for themself. US consulate never really weighed "sponsor" or "invite" too much contrary to what people believed. they just need to show "strong ties" with their home country ( investments + properties)
  18. i helped 10 people filed i-485 no issue. they all got their GC.
  19. i choose the location where i actually work.
  20. i received my GC : 4/8/23. on the card it said resident since 3/31/23. my lawyer didnt apply for SSN because i already had SSN from my asylum case 5 years ago. so the box on -485 was marked NO went to SSA office today on 4/10/23 ( i did online apppointment the day before) to get unrestricted SSN card. before i went to the office i do research and it seems i can just go the moment i got the GC without waiting few days or weeks. also i know there's 2 people whose GC got approved on the same day, already got their unrestricted SSN card by mail a week ago. Bring tons of document but what he wanted to see : Driving license Foreign passport Green card the officer cant update my status. he asked to his colleague " when i input her hometown, it wont let me go through " and his colleague said " probably because her GC date is so recent like 10 days ago ". the officer talked to me and he said sometimes it took a while for USCIS to update the system. he can see my record on the computer, print it out and give it to me to check if any information correct. he then give me a letter with reference number that confirm i did come to the office today and it stated on the letter probably took 4 weeks for me to get the new card because they need to verify with other agency. i asked him if i need to go back, he said no. i'm on a fence to go to DMV tomorrow to update my driving license just in case i have similar issue. i already check on their website and to call my DMV that i dont need to bring my SS card as long as i have the number. does anyone have similar issue? and how long does it take for u to receive unrestricted SSN card after the issue got resolved
