  1. Hi everyone, We applied family based green card for my parents, and post bio-metrics in Feb 2023, nothing for a long time, and suddenly in Dec 7th 2023 we got a letter titled "I-693 Deficiency Notice", where it stated we will either receive an interview notice or RFE. More than a month past, so far (1/17/24 today) nothing yet. My questions are below: Why do we got this i-693 deficiency notice at the first place? We mailed the sealed medical examination letter with the application package, and I'm certain about it. Of course we are happy to work with the doctor and re-prepare the letter... Is it common that no follow up at all for more than a month? I'm getting worried Thank you in advance.
  2. Hi everyone, I'm filing responses to RFE for my parents to AOS. On i-485 part 5 item 1, it asks "Have you EVER previously filed a petition for this beneficiary or any other alien?". Since it is an RFE, I indeed filed originally last year, so does that mean I should answer YES? I'm confused because below this question it asks for Result, and the examples are: approved, denied, withdrawn -- all look like final decisions than RFE. Should I say YES and enter pending? Thanks a lot.
  3. Hi everyone, For the newest i-485 form > Part 8 #61: Are you subject to the public charge ground of inadmissibility under INA section 212(a)(4)? ---would like to learn your thoughts. I am helping my parents with this form. They have never and will not need the public welfare benefits, my income meet the finance requirements. However, I believe they by definition are also not exempted from the public charge ground? Should I answer YES? I also see some other posts in this forum to suggest answering NO because the guideline only requires our best understanding. Really not sure what to do here. Thoughts? Thank you.
  4. Hi @Rocio0010 thank you for your reply. I am planning to just send in the asked docs. However my husband gave USCIS hotline a call and the rep there told us we should re-send in photos and copies of birth certificates too...
  5. Hi @OldUser You are bringing really good points, but yeah I checked these are all good... the only suspicion I had was that I had to hand fill some contents due to Adobe not working right, and hand filling not changing barcode...

  7. The RFE I got is generic on form version and finance. While I resubmit all the required materials, should I also re-attach my newest photos, given it has been 6 months since submission? On a similar note, should I re-submit birth certificate etc that goes with the form requirements? Thank you very much.
  8. Hi everyone, For 58.a. Part 4 Information About Beneficiary on Form I-130, it asks for Street Number and Name, for which I would fill in the contents on computer, but upon printing, one Chinese character is always missing. I tried different browser/computer/Adobe Reader app, but no luck. Would it be okay for me to hand write just this single line, while the rest of the form is still filed digitally? Thank you very much.
  9. If my day to day work provides enough $ for sponsoring i-485 application via W2, do I need to checkbox Part 6, #4 "Self Employed as a/an (Occupation)" and fill it, for the sake of completeness? I have minor concerns if I were to fill it, because in last 1-2 years our LLC is not making profit at all due to COVID. And of note - although it deducts our income on our tax transcripts, the adjusted total is still thankfully enough for sponsorship. I am slightly worried that if I include this information, it would: Make USCIS ask the question: will you lose more money in 2022? (The answer is no as far as I can tell for now, but it would be a difficult case to argue, until we are in Dec.) Add piles of additional documents to the whole application, but only to support few thousand dollars of loss Please let me know what you think. Thanks very much!
  10. Sorry posted the previous reply too early by accident. Thank you again. And my parents are in reasonably good health to work, but for now we don’t have energy to think about that yet. May have to see how things go first.
  11. Chinese government does not even allow going abroad with valid visa unless it is for work or school nowadays. Earlier this year in mainland my parents could only renew their passport after I provided a pile of doctor notes (this passport restriction has been partially lifted lately I heard). So yes to an extent, what you said is correct too.
  12. Thank you @Lil ! Appreciate that you reply to provide the clarification. Yeah we will look into that for curiosity, not for my parents
  13. Apparently not done enough research, and thank you for the information you provided. Long story short my parents came over in a rush due to my health issues. Unfortunately, unlike years ago, going back and forth nowadays between US and China mainland frequently is no longer practical, due to Chinese government's restricted lock down policies That is why we ended up pursuing this route.
