  1. Can my spouse (citizen) sponsor for my parents visitor visa as I lost my job (PR)? My spouse is a US citizen and I am a PR. I recently lost my job and my parents have their interview scheduled next month. My spouse and I own a property and my spouse is currently employed. One of my parents is a retiree and the other was always stay at home, they have investments and own properties. But I am not sure if it is enough. They will be staying with us so I am estimating the daily expenses should be around $50 per person, tops. Am I missing something? Any help is appreciated!
  2. I do have an IR1 visa and will be getting I 551 stamp at POE soon. I also have SS # as I worked part time on F1 visa few years back. I will be residing in US and work remotely for a foreign company. (The parent company is headquartered in US, however my employment would be in the form of a contract with its subsidiary in Europe). I should have posted my question clearly, sorry about that!
  3. Work remotely while in the US. Sorry if I wasn't clear. I will be entering US soon on IR1 and I already have an SSN since I worked part time on F1 visa years back. Thanks for your response!
  4. Hello, fellow VisaJourney members, I have an offer to work remotely for a US-based parent company's foreign subsidiary company as a contractor. Will work for this foreign company cause any problems down the line? I have been going through this IRS article but am still confused as to whether I would be eligible to work.
  5. Hi, I got my IR1 visa. I already have an SSN with "Valid for work only with DHS authorization", so I checked no in the DS-260 form. I understand from some posts that I need to remove these conditions upon arrival. What is the procedure to remove these conditions? Do I apply for EAD? Or approach local SSA office who might have some relevant forms? How long does it typically take between entering US and starting work? I already have a couple of job opportunities lined up but they might wanna know if it's worth the wait. Thanks in advance for all the help!
  6. Thanks! I didn't know it was Harry Potter's as I didn't look 😅. I am glad OP was cautious anyway.
