  1. My fiance arrived friday, POE was JFK. His flight with Alitalia arrived 1 and half hour late. If his plane would have been on time, he had 6 hour and 45min, to catch his flight with jetblue, to Tampa. But since it was late he had 5 hours til his flight was going to leave. He said it took about an hour to get through customs. Then he had to find his luggage, and then find jetblue counter and check in his luggage. After doing everything he was supposed to, he called me to let me know everything was ok. His call to me came 3 hours after landing. He told me he was very stressed out, the main reason was he didn't know where to go, he said he was stranded. Not knowing to use the airtrain. He said he asked a couple people and one lady gave him a pamplet and told him to read it (it was all about how to use the airtrain). He said everyone was so much in a rush and were not helpful. Jetblue charged him 20 dollars for luggage being over weight. Though when he was leaving Ghana the weight of the luggage was fine. I thought all the airlines were 50 lbs. Who knows, thank God he had a little bit of money on him. Also, for the post a couple weeks ago, wanting to know about having a little traveling money, it's probably not a bad idea.

Oh yea to answer your post question about if 3 hours is enough time. I think not, because you never know what kind of delays you could run into. But if 3 hours is all you can get, just try it and see. I'm glad my fiance had extra time.

  2. My fiance and I refered to each other as husband and wife, in a lot of our emails. I picked through all of them and left out all that mentioned husband or wife. That left out almost 200 of them. I don't know how many I chose for him to bring to the interview. There were a lot, more then 100 and he was told at the interview, what he had was way too much. So, he just gave them a handful. If you can't find any with out saying husband or wife, I would mark it out as JJ said. Wish you the best.

  3. In Accra they let the USC come in the building at 8:30, I'm not sure if they want a reason as to why you want to talk to a consular. I told them I was going in to wait for someone and was let in. When I was sitting there waiting for my fiance to have his interview, there were multiple USC's that came in for some reason or another, there were a couple that had appts. that were for interviews to bring family members to the US. But other then that no one else had appts. I'm sure they'll let you in and hopefully you'll have success. If the guards give you any problems tell them you need to change your emergency contact information and you haven't had any luck doing it online. I saw a man come to do it while I was there.

  4. I'm also sorry to hear about this. I was not a victim of it, but have had things sent to my house address, someone using my first name but a different last name. I would open up the boxes and saw different peoples names on the billing slips. I called one person up and asked them if they were doing this and they said their credit card info had been stolen. I was getting boxes everyday, 2 or 3 of them!!! I called the company( it was finish line or something) and told them to stop this, well it took them a while and I had them pay for all these boxes to go back to them, via UPS. I did find out who it was sending them. Believe it or not was a nigerian guy I had chatted with online. Let me tell you how it happend, about 3 years ago, I was chatting with a guy from nigeria. He had asked me if he could send me something for christmas. I told him sure and I want some CD's. So of course I gave him my address. He sent me a picture of himself and about 5 of his cd's. A few months later was when the boxes of timberland boots were arriving. He did not admit at first. I guess he thought I was going to mail them to him. Needless to say I never spoke to him again. You never know who your going to meet online. Becareful.

I wanted to say something about the credit card info. for our SO's plane tickets. I am glad other people are saying they had to do the same thing. I thought the airlines my fiance will be flying on was just picking on us or something. They told me he has to have a copy of my credit card. I have been thinking of the best way to get it to him. So, is it safe to email it?? Glad to also know he will need a copy of my ID. Printing that at cyber cafe's is not good. When I was in Ghana, I was copying the pages of my passport at a cyber cafe, for my fiances interview, where the worker copied it for me, I was standing by. I saw him make 2 copies of the front page and he handed one back to me. I reached over him and grabed it from his machine and said, yes, you are going to give me this second copy you made. I asked you to make one copy. He said, I was going to destroy it. I said, yea sure you were.

    Always becareful!!!

  5. Speaking for K-1 visa. It was good for 90 days, through the embassy's eyes. Though, I heard the police will give you a hard time to issue a new one. From other post's I've read, tell the police you lost it, is the best way to get a new one. I would call the embassy, I also think my fiance said in one of his package's 3 or 4, it said how long it was good for. Maybe your husband can look over the papers again.

  6. thanks everyone, you too Jenn :) it makes me feel a lot better. I paid for the flight a little bit ago. Except for the lady over the phone asking me my credit card number 5 times and still have not got the email itinerary, she said she emailed me. Other then that I pray his flight and transfer in Milan is smooth. Thanks again

  7. If your SO came through JFK, how long did it take for them to clear customs. I'm trying to book a connecting flight for my fiance from JFK and need to know how much time he'll need in between before he catches his connecting flight.

    Thanks :help:

I was wondering the same thing today. Glad to know someone was reading my mind. I was thinking to give about an hour extra just in case the airlines he is flying on is late arriving. Which that could happen. Also to go through customs and to find bagage could take a couple hours or more. I have not been to JFK but I am thinking of when I come back from Ghana it takes me 2 hours after checking through customs and to find my bagage. The immigrants lines are always much longer then the USC. Then to find the next airlines counter he will be flying with, to get the tickets. I come up with 5 hours to be on the safe side. Does this seem like too long? Probably is, but I know people that have done this and miss their flight. I have not asked them how much time they gave themselves, but I might just do that.

  8. Thank you Nigerianlove and Ladylove for your input and advice. I really appreciate it. I wish you both the best for the interviews. I will continue to keep you two in prayer.

Would it be too early to get the medicals done? I don't want to have him get it done and then turn around having to get it redone again because it is not a recent one. Does it matter?

I'm not sure if Nigeria is the same as Ghana, as far as medical exams. But in GH, they are good for 12 months and it should still be good for 6 months upon applying for AOS. If not you have to get the medical done again. I'm sure it's ok to do it now.

  9. Woot!!! Congratulations!!!

Quick question...what documents did the embassy require for the I-134?

The only documents they wanted along with the I-134, was the tax returns!! I provided 04, 05 & 06. We brought to the embassy my paystubs, letter from employer and bank statements. They said all we need is tax returns. Same thing for my co-sponsor, they just wanted the I-134 and tax returns. My stepdad was the co-sponsor and he only gave me tax returns for 05 & 06. They didn't seem to mind about only giving 2 years. They also did not want his letter from employer or bank statements. Hope this helps
