im gonna jump head-first into here...
Im a K1 (dont shoot me) and havent seen my fiance for over a year (sure its nowhere near as long its been for each of you).
We have had a total of 12 hours together over the past 2-years... but dang they were good hours.
    anyhow...
    In August MTL issued 32 IR1's and 8 CR1's and 6 K1's
    In September Montreal issued 85 IR1 and 16 CR1 visas and 9 K1's
    ...
    just food for thought.
    ...
but yea... regardless of what side you are on im fairly certain you will agree that MTL is being absolutely ridiculous.

Any tips as I have no experience in rioting and looting?

They don't "only wait one year." They end up in the United States and have a very long process to get their status adjusted. Meanwhile they can't work or do many other things normal people take for granted.

It is frustrating to see k1s get interviews and we aren't seeing anything. Its also frustrating that other consulates are down to 2 and a half month wait times. But im going to be frustrated at the consulate for their incredibly poor management and not at other people who just made different choices. I seriously considered K1 in 2019 but I went this route but, contrary to some peoples belief here, making the k1 choice wouldn't have made my relationship any less committed or valid.

So at the end of they day no one here has to be happy for them but the insinuation that they somehow don't deserve what they are getting is quite petty. Everyone deserves to be together and the frustration should be focused at the consulate who is failing to meet the standards others are setting rather than trying to imply that a piece of paper makes your relationship more valid than someone else's.

People on this forum are not unsympathetic.  Many have YEARS of experience navigating US immigration, and they want specific laws cited when blanket declarations are made.

And yes, there are people here who have been separated from their fiance/spouse for years.  You can't quantify suffering.

Thanks to everyone for being so patient and nice to me as I end my 26month consular journey and start my *&??? month AoS journey just as 70% USCIS staff furloughs are announced.   Fed up!!!!!  But...at least I am with my spouse, so I am very thankful.
    Good luck to all!

I imagine we are all living a very stressful situation here. It's very hard to live with no idea of when this whole mess will be over. This is making me sick, somehow.

I tried to call them, there's no phone I can reach them.
I tried to write them, I got a very impersonal email, an automatic message. Did I deserver it?
I tried to just be patient, and wait. But I can't. I can't just ignore this situation when my heart aches. I never thought the distance would be this hard to deal with.

    Let's be honest,
We just need some idea of when this waiting will be over.
We just need to be close to the person/people we love.
    We need shelter.

It hurts to see my loved one in the other side of a video call, crying. I feel hopeless, because I can't do anything about it. I wish I could.

These groups and forums help me, a little. I know that my pain is shared with other thousands of people, facing very identical situations. I find myself strong when I see that you guys are being strong.

I really hope this will be over for us soon. And we can actually be with our loved ones.
I really hope Montreal Consulate opens, and deals smartly with their backlogs.
I really hope that this situation make us stronger somehow.
I really hope there will be no scars at the end. At least not too many, because let's be honest, there's a lot of scars already.

I don't know if Montreal Consulate representatives actually check these forums, if they do:

I know there's a lot of pressure one you right now.
I know that the future is unpredictable at this point.
I also know that you can feel the pain these people (us) are feeling.

Be light in the middle of this darkness and bring happiness to these people. Help them as you were helping your own family.
You have this power, and you can use it to build great thing, and be of great help.

Beenwaitingforeva reacted to AD_1987 in Flying to the USA from Canada
I did this last year and though I was heavily questioned by the border agents at the airport, I was let through just fine. I had quit my job thinking I would get my K-1 within 6 months, so decided to just to go the US and be with my fiancé as a tourist (since as a Canadian I can stay up to 6 months). The border agent asked me so many questions: where will I stay (with my fiancé), how will I pay for myself (saving plus my fiancé could support me), do I have a job in Canada (no but I don't need one and have plenty of money to support myself), do I own a house in Canada (no as I was living with my parents at the time - I left my apartment after we got engaged because I knew I'd be moving to the States soon). I agree and understand that my case looked very suspicious to the CB agent but I answered all questions honestly. I even told him flat out "I know the rules for immigration and have applied for the K-1 to do everything legally. I eventually will be immigrating, but not now on this trip".

I think the key when visiting a fiancé in the US is to say VISITING. Many people say "going to live with"  and this signals intent to immigrate.

Also, you are automatically granted a 6 month visa when entering. It is up to you not to overstay your days within the year. If you booked a 2 week vacation now, but your plans happened to change, you are allowed to stay in the US up to (but not more than) 6 months minus one day... think about it
