When they asked for your birth certificates, did you give them copies or the originals, and did they keep them?

I feel like I have everything ready for my interview on Friday (May 7th), but the only thing I am missing is copies of our Birth Certificates.

They took our birth certificates and compared to what was filed and checked them off. We did not need to supply copies or the originals. They didn't keep anything that was original.

I took photocopies of everything as well though, so in the event they wanted to keep something (such as the deed to the new house) they could. I suggest you take photocopies just in case.

  2. As an update for everyone, I had my AOS interview at the Chicago field office. To summarize it:  nothing to worry about.

We showed up 20 minutes before but were only allowed in 15 minutes before so we waited a bit. Went up to floor 2, showed our interview notice and were seated. We waited about 30 minutes before being called. Once in the interviewers office  it was smooth sailing. He asked us for our marriage license, birth certificates, passports, drivers license and the deed to our new house for the change of address. The questions he asked were basic: Where did you meet? When did you get engaged? When did you first start dating?

He must have only asked us maybe 5-6 questions, felt more like a conversation than anything.

Interview took about 20 minutes and we were on our way. No approval on the spot however I am confident it will be approved.

  3. Hi all,

Our green card interview is scheduled for April 28. My wife and I recently purchased a home and today I submitted the change of address AR-11 form. My concern is that the change of address won't register before we are approved/ the card is produced and they mail the green card to the wrong address.

    Should I be concerned?

Is there any way to avoid this issue?

Can I tell the interviewing agent about the change of address to make sure it gets mailed to the proper one?

    Thank you.

  5. Got my NOAs today, 5 days after my checks were cashed. My priority date is September 25, 2020.

    1. 9/25/2020 - Application sent to USCIS Chicago lockbox

    2. 9/26/2020 - Delivered

    3. 10/26/2020 - Checks cashed

    4. 10/27/2020 - Received texts with receipts

    5. 10/30/2020 - Received 4 NOA's. Priority date is September 25, 2020.

One odd thing, when I go to check on my case status the receipt doesn't work and it says its invalid. I assume this is just the system not being updated? Anyone else have this issue?
