  1. Thanks for organizing the thread, I apologize for not creating my own. Thanks @Crazy Cat for the link to the VJ guide. I was using a PDF guide I downloaded some time ago but this VJ guide looks better. Not sure how I missed it but I will be on the right track now.
  2. Thanks, I will do just that then. I know the I-485, I-765, and I-131 can all be filed together. It looks like based on my state all these forms will be going to the Phoenix lockbox, can I also file I-864 with the other 3? Thanks for the help.
  3. I am working on the I-485 right now, so I haven't filed it yet. The guide I was following said to file I-130, so that is why I did that first. I should have paid more attention so it's definitely my fault of course. So now I should file the I-485 with a copy of the I-130 receipt, and I should not try and withdraw the I-130 even though I don't need it? Thanks for your help as I attempt to navigate this maze.
  4. My fiance arrived here in November and we married right away. I thought I needed to file the I-130 so I did, but after reading this thread apparently I did not need to file it. Should I withdraw the I-130? I suppose there is no way to get a refund on the fee is there? I would really hate to lose out on the filing fee, but it's my own fault if I do.
  5. Thanks for your reply...it sounds like it will be a non-issue. Just want to ensure everything goes smoothly.
  6. Hello everyone, My fiancé in the Philippines lost her passport a little over a month ago and her passport was the only item I was waiting on to move forward with our case. She did the necessary paperwork to report it lost and apply for a new one. She later found her passport, and said since she never met with anyone about getting a new passport her current one should be valid. I filled out the required forms and we scheduled her medical and interview date. I insisted that she double check there just to be sure her passport wasn't actually listed as cancelled/lost, and when she went in person to the passport processing center in her area they told her that her passport was indeed cancelled. She was able to apply for a new one right then and there, and should have it in 2 weeks. My only question is how will the affect our case going forward? She was able to keep her old passport, but of course it's no longer valid. I searched and found a couple posts related to a similar situation and the posters said that a corrected DS-160 is all that is required, and to bring both passports to the interview. I did email the embassy to see if they could help me, but received a very generic response in return that did not address the issue (they are understandably busy). I wanted to check with the knowledgeable readers here to be sure as we are hoping that this doesn't delay anything. Thanks for reading.
  7. I carried the policy information in my luggage, but was never asked about it or had to show it to anyone. There was a lady next to me at immigration who said she had to buy a policy as she was unaware it was required so it does appear that some people are being asked for it.
  8. For what its worth, I never had to do any temperature checks to go into any businesses where I was. I didn't go to very many places, but I did visit grocery stores and a few big malls. Everyone had a mask on inside, but quite a few had them below their nose (including me) and was never hassled about it from what I could see. But everyone did have a mask and someone not wearing one would certainly stick out. I did not wear one outside however. I would personally recommend wearing one as much as it sucks, but just keep it pulled down a bit so you can at least breathe. Wearing a mask was the worst part of the entire trip for sure, aside from the heat/humidity as I much prefer cold weather.
