So does the receipt number means that no rejection will follow in the mail. Our card was charged and we received the text with the number but not the mail yet ?

For now it means they accepted the case, in the mail you’re gonna receive a NOA soon (I think we have similar timelines, check your mailbox it might be there already), after the NOA you’re going to receive either a RFE or a biometrics appointment date (in the next few weeks)

  2. An update

June 19: AoS package was sent through FedEx
June 22: AoS package arrived to lockbox

    July 6: checks were cashed

    July 7: received text messages

July 13: received NOA (I-797C) through mail

I’m from Reno and the App Support Center is going to open at the end of the month, hopefully I’ll get my biometrics appointment next month 🙏

Education Evaluation: I used SpanTran because they allow submitting scanned documents online. Paid extra for 5 days, took 3 weeks. They are hard to contact - but I got the evaluation finally. Please share if you know better service

I used IEE and I recommend it. It took 7 days between sending my scanned documents and them sending me the evaluation by email, and 2 days later I received a printed copy by mail. It was $148.50, and they evaluated my high school diploma+transcripts and my college diploma+transcripts.

    Good luck to you too!

  4. Hi everybody,

I'm applying for AoS (immediate relative) during the grace period of my J-1 Summer Work Travel visa and I need some help answering this questions.

    1. Form I-765, Part 2, 25. asks me ''Your current Immigration Status or Category (for example, B-2 visitor, F-1 student, parolee, deferred action, or no status or category)''. Should I write J-1 exchange visitor, J-1 Grace Period or no status or category?

    2. Form I-485, Part 1, 24. asks me "What is your current immigration status (if it has changed since your arrival)?". Should I write J-1 Grace Period, I-485 Pending or leave it blank? (my arrival status was J-1 exchange visitor)

Any advice would be super appreciated!

  5. Hi everybody,

I know this question has probably been answered before but I want to make sure I understand this properly.

I came to America as a J-1 last November and after 5 months here I married a US citizen. I started to assemble my AoS package but I wasn’t able to send it before my visa expired because of different situations related to COVID-19. My goal is to send it next week (3 weeks of overstaying).

    Questions:

    1. after I send my AoS how do I prove I’m allowed to stay in America?

    2. Could I receive an NTA after filing?

    3. What should I tell my sponsor that is waiting for me to go back home (they’re asking me why I’m overstaying)?

This forum has helped me a lot, I’m glad I found you and I didn’t have to pay 1000+ on lawyers. Thank you!

just try open an account with your spouse information they have more information for the Us spouse.. if you did joint tax return tell your spouse to do that 🤞🏻

Sadly it didn't work either. He doesn't have enough information to verify his identity. I don't know what to do

  7. Hi everybody,

I have a question, help. I tried to get Tax Return Transcript from the IRS online but I don't have enough information for them to verify my identity and the other way of getting them was by mail but in their website it says they "stopped processing transcript requests by mail until further notice". What should I do? I have copies of all the W-2's and the Tax Return files from Turbo Tax (we filed our taxes online). Should that be enough? I tried re reading the instructions but I'm a little worn out from all the paperwork 😕 This is an excerpt from the instructions. Thank you for your help!

''Item Numbers 23.a. - 25. Federal Income Tax Return Information. You must provide either an Internal Revenue Service (IRS) transcript or a photocopy from your own records of your Federal individual income tax return for the most recent tax year. If you believe additional returns may help you to establish your ability to maintain sufficient income, you may submit transcripts or photocopies of your Federal individual income tax returns for the three most recent years. You are not required to have the IRS certify the transcript or photocopy unless specifically instructed to do so by a Government official; a plain transcript or photocopy is acceptable. Do not submit copies of your state income tax returns. Do not submit any tax returns that you filed with any foreign government unless you claim that you were not required to file a Federal individual income tax return with the United States Government and you wish to rely on the foreign return solely to establish the amount of your income that is not subject to tax in the United States. If you provide a photocopy of your Federal individual income tax returns, you must include a copy of each and every Form W-2 and Form 1099 that relates to your returns. Do not include copies of these forms if you provide an IRS transcript of your Federal individual income tax returns rather than a photocopy unless you filed a joint income tax return with your spouse and are qualifying using only your income.''
