Oh boy.   Not sure anyone here can actually help you.   You’re one of the few who would benefit from paid help- the VJ ‘partners’ (links at the top), or an immigration attorney.

;D it is okay it's been kind of helpful but seems like there haven't been anyone in this conversation in the same situation I'm dealing with what can you do

You don't need that evidence for AOS, its not listed anywhere and it makes no sense.  But you do need this evidence 2 years later when applying to remove conditional status of your greencard. But that is something else.

You should go get a lawyer

I seeee okay we were unable to get me a joint bank account nor add me to the house title without ssn , just some to use as evidence of the relationship

Did you flee from your fiance or flee after getting married? Did you even get married on the K-1? Something is really suspicious here.

Yes I got married still hereeee

That is not true at all.   You can still file joint taxes without an SSN.  You just need to file it with a request for an ITIN in lieu of a SSN  All the tax SW programs like Turbotax walk you through this.

Then you can use the ITIN number instead of the SSN to open up bank accounts.

Then whenever you get your AOS or EAD, you can get your SSN, you must use it instead of the ITIN.

How do I file taxes if I don't work

So you haven't applied for AOS yet? That's why then. If you've ticked the box (question 16) on your I-485 form then it'll be sent automatically.

Do get your AOS application in asap as you're out of status. Good luck.

Yeah of course ,so right now there's no way to get ssn nor would I even need it since the application will be sent already, that's the whole point I would have used the ssn for bank account for evidence that's it

Any legit job that pays enough to raise a family will ask for your SSN. And you use the SSN to properly report your income to the IRS. If neither of those things interests you, all I can say is good luck, girlll ;)

Thanks but again I'm not the one working and apparently I'll receive the ssn after aos application is sent . Too bad I wasn't able to use ssn for the evidence that's it . Would've definitely applied after entering states why not but there's not much you can do if you don't apply immediately.

I've been a stay at home mother and wife, as well as a board-certified oncology RN with 25 years of experience, so:  I can confidently say that being a non-working spouse/mom is absolutely no easier.  Nor does it have lower responsibility.  Running a household and keeping children alive and happy is harder work, with higher stakes. Don't underestimate your worth, or your obligations.

Personal choices yes we have to make them when creating our unique lives . Not sure how this answers my question

I just found out after 1,5 years of staying in the US that I was suppose get the social security figured out or that there was an opportunity to get one once entering the US ha wow . Just wondering who is responsible for informong aliens about this . So unacceptable I thought the only way to get it was through green card and now I'm struggling with the evidence since I'm not able to even get a joint bank account here . Wow just wow can't believe it

Lot of you guys were helpful Thank you ! Others not so much made me think that I should have known better But like I said never did anyone mention ssn , never got welcome package from embassy , couldn't file taxes jointly and of course didn't search for a work authorization when I'm not going to work (!!!) ;D

Apparently my situation is normal after talking with different people on rapidvisa. Yes with SSN you'll have stronger evidence however it's not necessarily when you can write a letter explaining your situation . If this is normal then yes there's lack of informing people on this subject but oh well it is what it is .

When you were filling out your AOS forms, there was a box on it that asked if you wanted them to apply for your SSN for you.

I take it you did not follow VJ's guides and found some other site to follow.

Here is the link check to the guides

    Thanks!

Unfortunately, US government does not have resources to allocate advisors to each immigrant.

You can use VisaJourney to learn more about immigration process. Just read K-1 forums, guides, ask any questions, community is happy to help. Ask husband, his relatives, your friends (especially if they're immigrants). With latest technology, you can ask Chat GPT and similar. If none of this helps, you can also get a free or paid consult with immigration lawyers where you can ask as many questions as you like.

    Thanks !

Stand alone Employment Authorization  EAD.  and travel Authorization. AP. Optional but recommended to file at the same time as the AOS.. no fee when co filed.. they are processed much faster than AOS and allow you to work and leave the country and report if needed before the AOS is completed

    Thanks !

Part of being a responsible mother/housewife is having backup plans in case your spouse becomes unable to work (has an accident, loses his job, or many other common life events that can happen to anyone at any time).

Anyway, what's done is done. The VisaJourney forums are full of info from people at every stage of the process. You have the opportunity to research, plan ahead and learn from others' experiences. Good luck with the rest of your journey.

Girlll getting a job here is not very difficult this country is largely built by the work of people that have no papers whatsoever ,there's plenty of options and making a back up plan isn't on my mind at all

“Who is responsible for informing aliens….”?

YOU are 100% responsible for informing yourself.   It’s part of adulting.

Yes probably but I be the people that are planning on being mother/ housewives like myself they might be lost on this one

I'm not planning on working that's why wasn't looking for ead just trying to get the green card so I can stay long term here

So weird it's not like I wasn't doing my research on the whole process... since everything is so complicated it's really difficult to know how much you have to go out of your way to look for stuff and not do things as they come,  in  certain order.  THere's no way I'm the only person whos in this situation nor they mention this on most k1 visa advice articles

    Check the box where ??

Do you have your EAD or GC now?

Sadly it was your job to know what to file and apply for, you could have checked the box when you filled out your AOS forms. Sorry but this one falls on you and your spouse.

  17. Hi there,  soo was just wondering if anyone had issues scheduling the k1 visa interview after paying the last 265$ fee . I thought I'd be able to do it after taking care of it apparently not.. still can't do it because 'there are no appointments available'  so maybe it's just the site but still

Nothing can go smoothly in this process

I'll call the embassy next Monday but c'mon it's pretty damn ridiculous 😑

Unfortunately not, as long as the travel ban is in place. I got the info from the app “Case tracker” (which tracks your visa request status and contains all news related to visas). Here’s the extract of the article and the link to it.

”While routine visa processes are resuming (dependent upon local pandemic conditions) in most locations for US embassies and consulates, there are exceptions to what will and will not be processed. This is with reference to the executive order and entry bans instituted by the US government against certain categories of immigrant and non-immigrant visas.”

But nothing says that k1 visas won't processed for example for the rest of the year though ... I guess I'll get my few months vacation in Mexico then and get married there 🙃
