I don't understand how we can have our kids looked after by barely above minimum wage personnel and believe that they're well cared for.

How delightful that a mod can post twice in here and ignore a blatant slur against a member.

We were just having a family discussion today. My daughters birthday is coming up and we can't decide between a trip to Disney World or a sub machine gun.

Ok I wasn't going to say anything but this is crazy. Betsy lives in KY. How is it even possible that she showed up at where the OP lives in IL? I think this is a case of the OP being paranoid. Being FB friends with someone doesn't mean they're messing around. I have FB friends who are guys that I went to school with who I do live nearby that I never see or even communicate with. Sorry but the OP sounds insane.

This is my first Ramadan with Younes. I will not be fasting since I just finished chemo and have major surgery coming up so I need to keep up my strength. But I am still excited to share this occasion with him.

no idea, but then i don't understand the big poufy dress thing at weddings, or stupid cakes and all that nonsense. weddings and people's preferences for certain things at weddings are nutty, imo.
you hit on a really important thing there, re. some women on this forum throwing out their religious preferences for that of their spouse's at weddings. some people are irreligious, but nominally christian, and don't care one way or another. but that many?
there's a trend on vj mena anyways, from my observation. as a muslim it's not like i'm advocating for muslims to get married to their christian spouses in churches, but i wonder why it's so often my way or the highway for how lots of mena guys want to get married.

Perhaps the issue is that the Justice of the Peace will probably not be Muslim? But the officiant at the Egyptian embassy is more likely to be? Who knows.

Move where? What countries are going to be faster/easier that guys in MENA can easily pick up and pack for? With equal employment opportunities/pay during the waiting period?

So only certain parts of the constitution matter to some. Second amendment etc. Pretty cool when folks can cherry pick that parts that further a cause they believe in (2nd amendment), yet when it comes to cruel and unusual punishment or imposing your religious beliefs on others, it's #### the constitution.

She said on the first page they had both agreed to not get married by their respective faiths' officiants. What's condescending is telling other people what issues they should or shouldn't have, religiously, because your family was cool with what you did. You are not her. your family is not hers. Another family's objections to that kind of a wedding ceremony does not inevitably mean they have issues with her marrying a Muslim in the first place either, it could be a myriad other issues or reasons!

There are plenty of Christian religious issues that can arise from a marriage taking place in a masjid, involving a Christian that have nothing to do with "issues of you marrying a Muslim". What squares away for you religiously might not for someone else. What you did is certainly not orthodox by any means, religiously. No one is hassling you about that, and they shouldn't, but it's weird the way you're dogging her here.

I do sympathize with you because long-distance is REALLY HARD, especially when you don't see an ending. Younes and I struggled in our relationship last fall - nothing to do with unfaithfulness but there were jealousy issues and we both wondered if we were making the right decision in being together, if our different backgrounds were just too much. As it turned out, my diagnosis centered us and made us realize that our relationship was worth sticking with and now we are married. It would've been nice to come to that conclusion in a less...potentially life-threatening way, though.
You are only human and your mistakes are understandable. It sounds you have found peace in the outcome, even though I'm sure it's very painful and I wish you nothing but the best for the future.

OMG, my kids and I love that ride. Is it ok for Muslims to admit that? Or am I committing a major faux pas, like when we had the horrible audacity to have Eid on 9/11 a few years back? Freaking eggshells I'm walking on here.

But really do you honestly think a CO is going to view all of this in softer, kinder, gentler light? Whether you like it or not, your absurd pat answers to some very huge life issues are not going to cut it at the Egyptian consulate. You may be a nice, intelligent human being, in all kinds of ways, but you have got to realize how you come across. Because ultimately when it's interview time and a CO wants to know why your fiancé is leaving his kids behind, non sequiturs about MENA male migration for employment that have nothing to do with him aren't going to cut it. Bumbling through Egypt with a "spiritual contract" you've inexplicably signed but cannot define isn't the hallmark of someone who's thought out much of anything here. They've seen you before, they'll see you again. He'll probably end up with a visa despite all this. Success!!
Looks like you've got this all covered.

What you have there is an orfi marriage, used to skirt the law to stay together overnight without being tossed in jail. It is not an Islamic marriage cert. by the way. The nikkah is different, and every marriage with an Egyptian and foreigner needs a trip to the courts there as well as your embassy and you don't mention anything about that..... I was married when I met my fiance however I proof I was legally apart from him in my pending divorce decree. Does he have any proof he was perhaps legally separated from his then wife? It would help your case rather than looking like he just dropped his family for you and a chance to immigrate.
I don't mean this to sound hurtful but a CO may look and think he would marry you, leave you after X years and bring the first family over when able.
I agree about men from upper Egypt not looking too kindly on this orfi idea. But you also didn't mention how long he had been living away from home. Other red flags.....do you guys have a big age gap? Does his family know about you, have they met you, do they accept the general idea of him marrying you?
We get that the men can have up to three wives but once you talk about immigration you switch over to American law where for a K1 you must be free to marry.

IMO a red flag here is you don't seem to know much about his culture.... and yes, he leaving kids, his wife, etc, will be red flags. Get a lot of evidence to overcome it.
