Last weekend, my fiancee, traveled from Minsk, Belarus to Istanbul, Turkey, from Istanbul to Doha, Qatar on Qatar Airlines, and from Doha to Dallas on Qatar Airlines, arriving on 21 June.  She passed through customs easily and without issue on her K-1 visa.  We chose Qatar as they have not been cancelling any flights from Doha to America, and because she would not have to transit any Schengen or banned countries.

    Hello all,

There is a lot of mixed answers. The EO does not mention that K1 is affected however nor does it mention it is exempt as the only exemptions to this are spouses and children. Some lawyers are saying the K visas are not affected and some are saying it is; Just like some embassies.

The most simple solution is to gather information from the government themselves, mind you, we might still get mixed answers. If all the US Citizens take some time to write an email to either their house representative or their state senate regarding where the K visas stand, we can get a more clear answer than the speculations going around and everyone's take on the EO.

We are all in the same boat and we are all in this together. Lets be positive and lets make some noise. Instead of having each consulate have their own interpretation, as some already are doing so. For Ex. the London embassy saying that the K1 is affected as stated in their appt cancellation email. If we make noise regarding the K visas within the Gov we might get a clear answer and they might include us in the EO.

    Please no negative replies.

    Hi Fellow K1s,

The number one thing we can do right now to ensure that we get reunited with our loved ones, is to contact your US elected officials. Let them know that you are a constituent of their district or state, that you are in the K1 process, and that you are concerned that K1s are not being addressed adequately during the pandemic. Include a few sentences of your personal story so they remember you. Urge them to speak to their contacts at the State Department and ask the State Department to:

    1) Clarify the position of K1s in regards to the EOs on immigration (we believe they should not be affected as they are non-immigrant visas which are not specifically denied)

    2) Deem K1 visas mission critical visas during the pandemic and provide travel exemptions as such

    3) Make a public statement regarding their intended plans for K1 processing so that we all can be informed

I contacted my representative last week and was surprised with how quickly they responded and how seriously they took my concerns. The more noise we make the better! The squeaky wheel always gets the grease!

Contact your representatives and post below with confirmation so we can shower you with applause and likes! I’m going to contact my senators (North Carolina) tonight.

    Per USCIS -
    https://www.uscis.gov/family/family-us-citizens/visas-fiancees-us-citizens
Visas for Fiancé(e)s of U.S. Citizens If you are a U.S. citizen who wants to bring your foreign fiancé(e) to the United States in order to get married, you will need to file a Form I-129F, Petition For Alien Fiancé(e).
This is the first step to obtaining a K-1 nonimmigrant visa for your fiancé(e).
The K-1 nonimmigrant visa is also known as a fiancé(e) visa...

    ---------------------------------------------

According to USCIS, K-1 is a NON-IMMIGRANT VISA, seems to me.

The matter of WHO interviews you (the immigrant section or the non-immigrant section) is one thing...as a matter of processing.  That procedure could be changed, if they want, without having to change the nature of what you receive from them.
What you end up getting as a result of the process is what matters. And that is A NON-IMMIGRANT VISA.

So, here is how I currently view it -
"When you step across the line at the POE - and into America - are you an immigrant on that very step?"
The answer to that is - No. You INTEND on becoming one, but you aren't one YET!

Are you given immigrant status at POE as you step into America? No.
You still have to do specific things timely and sufficiently correctly TO BECOME an immigrant.
Well, if you have to so something to BECOME one, then you aren't one yet.

So, you get a non-immigrant visa, with the understanding and agreement that you are allowed to petition to change status to becoming an immigrant (AOS) down the road.
So, a non-immigrant visa, with immigrant intent approved and accepted by the US Government.

That's how I view it, at this point.

    Hi there!
Since the situation seems to be getting a bit out of hand in the US, I was hoping to find some information on Visa Journey, concerning the possibility of an extension for visas (K1). I posted in this forum a few weeks ago.
i have texted the consulate in Germany again, and called the USCIS travel docs number. The consulate replied that I should get back to them once my visa has expired. The USCIS travel docs people told me to contact Homeland security.
So I send another email to Homeland security, to inquire if 1. It is possible to enter the US on a K1 visa right now, 2. if it is possible to extent the visa, if I cannot travel within the next months. Since the situation is really out of my (anyone’s) control at this point, and it will cause financial hardship on me, if I cannot travel to the US to live with my fiancé in the near future.

I would really appreciate it a LOT, if people on here that have received some kind of feedback from any embassy or official could give me some advise or to exchange information. I was supposed to leave on the 1st of May, and I am pretty sure that’s not going to happen.
I was able to extend my lease until the end of May, but I won’t have a job (currently in talks to get my job back, but my boss doesn’t know if he can hire someone right now). So, once my visa expires (1st of July), I will probably look at months of waiting to get a new medical and interview date.
As of right now, this situation is very exhausting to say the least, and I am in touch with other K1 s with the same problem.

I would really appreciate to hear back from others and keep the information on here going.

Thanks! And best wishes to everyone on here!

The US govt really needs to think carefully about this, and make some provision.
Everyone is innocent here. Nobody wanted this or willfully caused this.
There has to be a reasonable relief and consideration offered here.
    Just saying.
