I’m sorry for what you are going through. It seems ridiculous that they did not accept it when it’s specifically indicated on the document checklist that you can provide it if the transcript is not available.

I wanted to update everyone about my wife’s interview experience today for her CR-1 Visa. I was worried when I read here about the transcript as I just filed my paper return on October 13th so surely it will be many months until the transcript is available. She had a 7:30am appointment and arrived about 6:15am. She was all finished by 7:50am! There weren’t many people there and it went smoothly. She wasn’t asked too many questions (they were all easy). For 2019 all they asked for was our 2019 tax return and W-2’s. As I’m a partner in a partnership I have a K-1 instead of a W-2 and they accepted that. They did not even ask for the transcript which shocked me. Happy to answer any questions anyone might have but super happy this long journey is coming to an end.

Hi @J&J 2020 I read your concern & situation, and also confused why they didn't just approve yours or maybe we just got lucky.

We brought all the updated 2019 AOS,Transcripts,w2s,Tax returns just in case, but they didn't asked for it. Maybe because they understood that there is a pandemic?
The only difference in our situation is that on the CEAC we uploaded a W2.

I would go with what your planning and submit what you have and include a copy of the page that states : The appropriate Form I-864 Affidavit of Support for each financial sponsor along with a photocopy of the sponsor’s most recent IRS transcript, or most recent tax return and any relevant W-2s, if the transcript is unavailable

You can contact Yumburger. It looks like they got by without the latest tax transcript.

I know what you are saying,  I was simply repeating what I have seen around here on VJ or people that are contacting me by PM or email.

The embassy 5 STEPS has zero info regarding financial support documentation, been that way for years now.   The info on the DOS site is all there is to go by, but every embassy goes down a slightly different path from there even.    The hard and fast rule is:  He who has the gold (visa in this case) makes the rules.   Give 'em what they ask for as you won't get far otherwise.

Hopefully the letter from the IRS will sway the embassy in their decision.

Has anyone's spousal visa been approved in 2020 by US Embassy Manila without bringing a 2019 IRS Tax Return Transcript to the interview?  If so, what documents did they accept? Would a 2019 IRS W-2 Transcript alone be acceptable?

My wife recently received a 221g because they want my 2019 IRS Tax Transcript.  At the interview, my wife brought my 2019 tax return (including Form 1040), 2019 W-2 (issued by employer), and a recent 2020 Pay Stub... but were asked to follow up and provide the 2019 IRS Tax Transcript and 2019 W-2 (confusing because we provided the W-2 to them at the interview).  I filed my taxes back in June (before the July 15 deadline) but the IRS is taking up to 8 months to process paper returns and thereby generate a transcript. And so my IRS Transcript is still not available, 4 months after filing my taxes. (We had to file paper because e-filing doesn't work if your spouse lacks a social security number.)  I recently spoke to the IRS and they said they cannot locate my taxes (even though delivery confirmation proves they received it, and they cashed the check I wrote them in June!) and that I should resubmit my taxes, which I did.

We are disappointed and confused because US Embassy Manila specifically said to bring: The appropriate Form I-864 Affidavit of Support for each financial sponsor along with a photocopy of the sponsor’s most recent IRS transcript, or most recent tax return and any relevant W-2s, if the transcript is unavailable.

My IRS Transcript would appear to be many months away and this delay may cause my wife's medical to expire too - not to mention more months of painful separation.  We are wondering if we should respond to the 221g by submitting only the 2019 IRS W-2 Transcript (since the 2019 IRS Tax Return Transcript won't be available for months). Are there any other actions we can take to resolve this?

    That is fine.

Just depends if the person has to travel by bus or plane to Manila or if they live close.

And now of days with the COVID going on, it seems as if a few people are getting Medical done in one day.

It seems as if the lion share of people always try to do medical on Monday, and I suspect that will be the busiest day of the week for medical.   I always suggested doing it on a Wednesday and not going at the crack of dawn and falling in lines for hours waiting for them to let people in.

Very good.  My expedite approval was from NVCExpedite as well, 10 days ago. But when I called the US Embassy today (using the US line: 730-520-2235), the attendant said there were no interview slots open at all and asked about the reason for my expedite, even though my expedite had already been approved. She said that since I had not received an email from the Embassy yet, that meant they did not have our file (even though CEAC shows it is located at "Manila" and the status is "Ready").  So it is a bit confusing. My wife doesn't want to travel to Manila if an interview isn't possible.

In our case, I called SLEC and I advised them that I don't have an appointment date/interview letter, but our request for expedited processing was already approved. They allowed me to schedule and proceed with my medical examination , and in place of the interview letter, I was asked to present the email from the NVC regarding the approval of the expedite request.
